  • Whenever I try to change the settings for startup from the Control Panel, a pop up tells me that I need to activate Windows Defender and open

I installed Microsoft Security Essentials today and I'm trying to edit startup programs. Whenever I try to change the settings for startup from the Control Panel, a pop up tells me that I need to activate Windows Defender and open.  However, most of the security will not allow Windows Defender be turned on and I want to change the startup parameters.  How can I accomplish this?

    Hello

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

And now edit startup in Vista without using Defender programs, use one of the following methods:

Or the program Autoruns for FREE:

  • DeskJet 3720: Driver Installation fails

Call to DriverPackageInstall returned error-536870329 for package ' < C:\Program HP HP DeskJet 3700 series\DriverStore\YetiV4\hpygid20_v4.inf

Thanks PCalaminci. I got exactly the same error and same configuration (Win10 x 64 with bitlocker active). The solution is as PCalaminci suggests: temporarily disable the driver signature digital verfifaction (looks like HP delivered a driver with a valid Publisher unknown/no signature that is the cause of the installation of the bomb).

Note: To temporarily disable checking of driver (on Windows 10) signing it is easier...

    1. In Windows, go to PC settings (you can search for it in the start menu).
    2. Click on 'update & recovery' on the left side.
    3. Click on "Recovery" on the left side.
    4. Click "Restart now" button under Advanced Boot.
    5. Select Troubleshooting-> advanced-> startup parameters and press Restart
    6. Press the number corresponding to the entry 7 "disable driver signature enforcement".
    7. Install the drivers. After your system restarts again once you won't able to install any unsigned drivers until you repeat steps 1-6.

Above works even if you have your hard drive encrypted with bitlocker (you need not type in your recovery key).

  • How to access the start menu? F10 is ignored. ESC is ignored.

I have a HPE175z running a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium.  I want to change the startup parameters.  When the system boots, the screen tells me that < F10 > give me access to the configuration.  F10 is completely ignored.  A message tells me later < ESC > will give me access to the Start Menu. < ESC > is also ignored.  Similarly, I have try all the keys are ignored - nothing interrupts the boot sequence.  How can I access the start menu?

The problem is that no key during the boot stopped the boot process and allowing me to enter the installation or startup configuration.  I swapped keyboards and the problem disappeared.  Apparently, the keyboard did not have during the boot sequence.

  • Pavilion a1250n: cannot use 4 GB of memory on 64-bit operating system

I resurrected this PC to give to my grandson, so I added 2 GB more memory.

But when he starts, he sees only 3 GB.

The configuration of the BIOS shows all 4 sticks of 1 GB.

I ran the test memory Windows startup, and it shows all 4 GB and it extracted all OK.

But, the properties of PC watch 4GB installed, 2.75 GB usable.

I confirmed that Max Memory has been disabled in the MSCONFIG startup parameters.

Googling has provided advice to set up activate Memory Remap in BIOS - but there is no such setting, in fact, there are NO parameters associated with the memory in the BIOS.

I am running the latest version of the BIOS - there is no update.

I use an add-in video card GeForce and hoped there will be a setting in the BIOS to avoid system memory allocated to the integrated video chipset, but only focus on the video entry is to choose what video is the main, and I already defined on PCI - E.

I am at one loss as to what else to do...

    Hello:

What you see is probably normal for a PC with an AMD chipset this old.

I know for a fact that on a desktop computer Intel, you must run with a chipset 965 or newer which takes in charge of 8 GB of memory or more, so that Windows to "see and use" 4 GB of physical memory.

These PC that can support 4 GB memory shows the same amount of memory usable net as a 32-bit operating system.

There is nothing you can do about it.

I guess the same goes for AMD platforms... you probably have a PC with a chipset that can take over 8 GB or more memory on order for Windows to "see and use" all of the 4 GB of physical memory.

Last week, I received my Toshiba Satellite A300-14R it al seems to work, but by installing or using a heavy application, the frozed just for laptop and I had to reset the computer. • Very unusual behavior of Satellite L750D-14R

One of my kids has a portable Satellite L750D-14R and a couple of weeks complained that the laptop was slow. It * was * slow - it took 10 to 15 actual minutes just to load of minecraft, and then the game was unplayable because it was so slow. He already had 6 GB of RAM. To try to fix it, I reinstalled Windows 8 (when we bought, it came with windows 7 and I upgraded to 8.1 Windows), all system updates and the windows update 8.1.

He seemed to be okay, at this point, faster. But he began to blue screen regularly, as every time it has been used. I tried to reinstall another, this time by installing Windows 8.1 directly. I made all the system updates etc and he began to blue screen. At that time, I had already spent a lot of time trying to fix it. This time, I went for the nuclear option full-on and completely formatted the disk including the removal of all partitions. There are 3 partitions, a very small recovery partition and the system partition and data. I thought I wouldn't need recovery - if there were any problems I could format and reinstall again. So I amazed all the scores and grouped into a single partition on the disk.

The laptop is now completely unusable. With the HDD Toshiba original (freshly formatted) installed the laptop starts just directly to a blue screen that says:

"Recovery, your PC needs to be repaired. The application or the operating system could not be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. File: \WINDOWS\System32\winload.exe
    Error code: 0xc000000f

You will need to use the tools of recovery on your installation media. If you do not have the installation media contact your system administrator to the manufacturer.

    Press ENTER to try again
    Press F8 for startup parameters.

Pressing enter or F8 is simply the screen flashes for less than a second, then it goes back to the same message again. It tries to start, it shows not the BIOS or normal startup messages, or the Toshiba logo or anything like that.

With a drive HARD new, freshly formatted, the laptop does nothing when I turn it on - entirely black screen with a cursor flashing at the top left of the screen. It does not boot to the BIOS, there is no system messages or logos, I can't type in the location of the cursor, it is just flashing indefinitely.

It's as if there was something on the "valorisation" partition which stops users to upgrade the HARD drive or something - any player who does not have this 'special' recovery partition do not work, thus ensuring that consumers buy a new laptop when it grinds to stop instead of the upgrade. This may sound cynical, but I saw anti-mise at material level similar solutions in the past - Compaq PC used to have special notches plastic cast on optical drives, so that readers could be used in the frame of Compaq.

Just to put things in context, I'm not a computer expert, qualified or not, or whatever it is, * but * I was an engineer office support for a very large company for a long time, a few years ago. I have built, repaired and updated hundreds of computers over a period of about 20 years, and in all this time, I've never seen a problem like this. What I mean is, I'm not a total computer novice! Usually a full format and reinstall everything except material patches broke, and it does not feel like a broken hardware problem.

The laptop is 1 to 2 years. I'm sure laptops should last longer than that. I really don't want it's bin again. Is there something I can do? I can recreate this special anti-mise to partition somehow level?

With a drive HARD new, freshly formatted, the laptop does nothing when I turn it on - entirely black screen with a cursor flashing at the top left of the screen

The cursor blinking in the upper left corner is a typical sign of HARD drive / partition problems or memory problem.
But HARD DISK must be check at the first stage.

According to your message, you could reinstall Win 8 on this HARD drive...

I recommend you install Windows system once more after the HARD drive has been formatted.
The best choice would be the use of the support of recovery Toshiba (disk) which allows you to reset the phone to factory settings, but I guess that you have not created this record in the past. Right?

Well, if you need this disk, you can always order the middle of Toshiba Arvato serice.
More I would recommend checking the HARD drive using some 3rd party software such as
Drive Fitness Test (google for free download)

As mentioned, next to the potential problem of HARD drive, the RAM might be the troublemaker...
Then you should also consider the RAM check or replacement of RAM...

  • Access to the Safe Mode on Windows 8

    Hello

I understand sometimes through troubleshooting or for other reasons, there is a need to access safe mode when using windows 8. What many people do not know is Windows 8 does not use F8 at startup to access the secure mode. It needs to be done inside of Windows 8, himself. The screenshots below will show you how to access safe mode when you use Windows 8.

On the startup screen, click settings:

Then click on change settings for PC:

Click gernal on the left side of the page:

On the right side scroll advanced boot:

The computer then stops, and you want to click on troubleshoot:

    Click on advanced options:

    Click startup parameters:

You will then see a page that lists information, click Restart on the right:

You will then choose which environment you want to connect to:

  • Error initializing C470 1962

    Hello

has obtained a C470 with a strange boot problem.

whenever the machine is running, you receive the following error message:

1962 error: no operating system found. Boot sequence automatically repeated

Sometimes Windows 7 starts just, sometimes it starts after a few repetitions. This is a random behavior, and it does not change a thing if it's a cold start or just reboot.

So that's what I've tried so far:

    1. update of the bios

    2. adjustment of the installation by default, configured and tried different startup parameters

    3. re-installed the bootloader

    4. has conducted an audit of health SSD, everything is OK

    5. replace SSD by one of a different brand

After the first step, I was able to start for over 20 times without any problem. After that, the problem came back :-o

The system worked for more than a year without any problems. There is also another machine with exactly the same configuration that always works.

All the other things I could try?

    Thanks for any help

I solved the problem by replacing the properitary S - ATA standard S - ATA cable cable. I had to weld another connector of power for the existing S - ATA power cable.
