State of connection system tray icon incorrect or choosing bad network connection when it is connected to the internet with Windows 7.

Hello people,

My Network icon always shows that I'm connected wireless.

If I disable my wireless, it becomes the symbol of ethernet.

As soon as I turn on my wireless, the wireless icon appears once again!

I am running Windows 7.

My reports of cable 1 GB/s network

My reports 65 MB/s wireless network

Windows 7 allows you to select the slower wireless network that should not be the case.

Under network connections, select advanced and advanced settings

and change in order to make sure that the connection to the local network was the first.

I've updated my card driver to the latest version of the software. I also uninstalled and reinstalled all network cards with all necessary reboots of the PC.

Under properties of the connection to the network Local and the properties of the wireless connection

I chose properties IPV4 & IPV6, advanced and set the ethernet connection for the metric of the interface of 10 and the wireless to a metric of the interface of 25.

I did too...

In the device-> network-> adapter Manager Intel Wireless-> properties-> tab power management-> uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Windows always selects the slower network ignoring the manual settings...

He has never done this since yesterday. Please help me.

In short, when the wired connection is used, the ETHERNET ICON must be on the system tray, and not on the Wireless ICON even if both are activated. This was the case for me two days ago.

I don't know what to tell you. In my (wide as technician) experience, when there are two a Wi - Fi and connection the icon always shows the bars wireless.  Your computer seems to be an exception that I can't explain.

  • computer not automatically standby (formerly titled "impossible computer automatically sleep when it is connected to the internet with modem cable")

Hi, I noticed recently that my computer (Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005) is unable to sleep automatically when it is connected to the internet with a cable modem. Change the settings for my current power mode and try a different feeding regime (diagrams of Windows XP default power and power management, I created) only solves the problem for 2 days at most. I also tried to change the settings for the other power plans mentioned, and yet once again, the problem was only set for two days at the most. I also tried turning off my computer, restarting my computer, recording Powercfg /Restore Default policies in Run, saving sfc/scannow in Run, and again, I got the same result. Reset and power cycling the modem cable is not helped either. To help you better understand the problem, for example, if I had the date set for the screensaver set to 1 minute, the time for the monitor to turn off set to 2 minutes and time for your computer set to 3 minutes, the screen saver activate after 1 minute, the monitor turns off after 2 minutes, but the computer would not sleep mode after 3 minutes , even after an hour or more. I tried to check the Task Manager, and I have not noticed any process that would be interrupting the day before. However, I noticed that when I turned on the monitor by moving the mouse, even when the computer was unable to sleep and unplugged the ethernet cable from the cable modem and waited, the computer has entered standby as it should have.  I tried to find a solution for more than a week, contributions for this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. (Update: it seems that the problem is something else then my cable modem.)

    Hello

    Thank you for the update.

This behavior can occur because of possible conflicts of third-party software, which includes the third-party security software.

You can also temporarily disable third-party security software and firewalls installed on the system and check the issue.

If disabling the antivirus software solves the problem, you may need to configure the settings of the antivirus as a result program. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

Note: be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking the issue.

Note: When you perform a clean boot, you can activate services for the modem, network card and disable third-party services to check the issue.

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

  • Unable to connect to the internet with the new installation of XP Service Pack 2

Hello.  I have an old laptop (Dell Latitude D630) that I recently reinstalled Windows XP, service pack 2.  I logged directly into my Fios modem because I can not find how to connect wireless.  When I open Internet Explorer it says that cannot display the page.

I went to tools, Internet Options, connections and Lan settings.  There automatically detect the settings checked and that's it.  When I try to tools, Internet Options, connections and the installation program, it seems to want to set up a dial-up access.  When I go to control panel and click on network connections, it shows a 1394 connection that is connected and a firewall.  By clicking on status shows connected to 400 Mbps.  I tried to repair the connection, just in case, and it is said that he could not finish because he could not question the connection TCP/IP settings.

Did anyone know what I can do to connect to the internet, so I can run Windows Update?

    Thank you.

In addition to advice Xircal you need sp3, the first thing you need to do is to install the drivers for your hardware.  If what you see in network connections is an icon for an IEEE 1394 (FireWare) connection, you must at least install drivers for your Ethernet network cards and wifi.

With the help of a computer that can connect to the Internet (for example, the one you use to post here), go to http://www.dell.com/support/my-support/us/en/555?c=us&s=biz&cs=70&l=en and enter the serial number for the laptop.   Download drivers for your Dell D630, copy to a USB flash drive (or burn to a CD) and install as shown here--> http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=268873

  • Unable to connect to the internet on Windows 7

    * Original title: network problems

So basically, my pc does not connect to the Internet. I connect using LAN and the Ethernet cable works very well I used it on another pc and it works also, it worked fine before. I doubt that it is a problem of port because I have not moved or changed my Pc.

I'm running on Windows 7 Professional N with a 64-bit operating system.  Also here is the output when I type: ipconfig/all

    Windows IP configuration

    Host name: Andrew Pc

    Primary DNS suffix:

    Node type: hybrid

    Active IP routing: no

    WINS proxy enabled: no

The system of quarantine status: not limited

    Network connection local ethenet adapter:

    The connection-specific DNS suffix:

Description: realtek PCIe GBE family controller

    Physical address: 74-D4-35-A4-66-E6

    DHCP enabled: Yes

    Autoconfiguration enabled: Yes

    Link-local IPV6 address: fe80::e9d7:bf9f:35ef:ca70% 20

    Gateway of local liaison:

    Fec0:0:0:ffff:1 1% DNS servers

    FEC0:0:0:FFFF:2 1%

    FEC0:0:0:FFFF:3 1%

    NET BIOS on theme: enabled

    C:\Windows\System32 >

I can't restore to a point before the issue that no point is available, it is also a custom PC so there is no default factory setting.

Normal network drivers are up to date, however the hidden WAN mini port drivers have an error "the system cannot find the file specified."

Are you sure that a wireless installation is actually installed?  You will discover by control panel, network and Internet, network and sharing Center Center, change the settings for the adapter.  If it is listed, it is enabled?

In a case with or without wire, you can buy add-ins that are not expensive if MB facilities do not work.

  • Unable to connect to the router with windows 7?

I have just bought an Acer Revo R3700 and installed Windows 7 above, but I can't connect to my router.

My router is heaven and successfully has 4 laptops (both under Vista, two 7 running), an Xbox and a Wii and two smartphones connected to him. Yet I just can't do this system to connect to him.

I'm at my wits end... I've tried absolutely everything. I searched the Microsoft answers site found several similar problems and tried a lot of solutions, including adding files in the registry and update drivers.

At first I could connect to the internet every now and then, but it was biblically slow (I tried to download Google Chrome and got him to 0.2 Kbps) and soon disconnected. Now I can't connect at all.

I just downloaded a the Ethernet controller driver and updated a driver WLAN as they apparently do not come with Windows, but it still doesn't work. Although the message has now changed to "Unable to connect" to "Limited connectivity" (even though I think it's more coincidence than anything else)

It should not be a question of signal strength, like the Xbox and laptop computers work fine when placed next to her.

Really needed a solution to what running an ethernet cable is not really an option :(

Thanks in advance guys. I'll be happy to provide any additional details if you need it :-)

EDIT: / / I would add that I seem to be able to connect fine with a phone as a hotspot? It is very very weird.

EDIT: / / I just managed to connect, but its very slow and not changed anything for the last 100 times? Everything seems to be completely random when it let me? : S

  • Windows Update breaks the connection to the Internet screen Windows 8 start

At the start of a newly refreshed State, if I install an update from Windows Update or driver, my screen Windows 8 start apps can connect is the Internet. My desktop connection continues to connect to the Internet just fine.

I have goes back to the fact that my active network is deleted. The newly refreshed State presents a public network in the network and sharing Center under "view your active networks. I can then change for private and create a homegroup, if I want to. After an update has a happy ending, this active network gets blown away and he said: "You are currently not connected to all the networks."

How to fix this State without update Windows and how can I keep Windows Update to do this in the future?

OK guys, I also had the same problem. I messed around with my PC for about 3 weeks and I found the solution for me.

Is the internet connection marked as connection from home or at work. I changed mine public (charm > setting > connection > right click on the active connection > turn sharing or disable > No, (for the network in public place.)
