Static in speakers when using Skype

I have a PC laptop HP Envy Touchsmart IS-j052nr, running Windows 8.1.  When I use Skype, either through headphones or the speakers, I have problems from parasites.  It sounds clear when I speak and when the person at the other end is speaking, but if the person on the other end does not speak for several minutes, then the static method noise becomes stronger and stronger (like a huge storm of rain falling at the hearing) until the other person makes a new sound.  The other person can also hear static.

Is there a new driver, I can download to fix this problem?  When I scanned my computer on the support site there is no audio driver I was missing.

Thank you!

Hello SCLC.

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand when you use Skype on your HP Envy Touchsmart j052nr IS running Windows 8.1 you hear static, whether you use headphones or speakers. Now you don't hear static noises when using Skype, or when using headphones or require sound from speakers?

After some research on the Skype Support Forums, I've seen a few recommendations that I would like you to try to see if that reduces / removes this annoying static noise. Please follow the steps listed below:

1 sign in to Skype

2. go in Tooks > Options > General > Audio settings

3 uncheck automatically adjust to the title of chapters of Microphone and speakers

4. adjust the volume to your liking

5 save and restart Skype

If you are still having static noise, I wish that you continue here: Skype Audio issues troubleshooting

Please reply back with the information requested, if the static noises are still there and it is only when you are using Skype, I recommend to go to the Page of Support of Skype as they would be able to help you.

I'll watch for your reply.

I have Windows Vista 64-bit operating system.  The following situation began around mid-April.  Although all the sound settings are correct and healthy records on his Equalizer lit bar, there is no sound coming through the speakers.  With some parameters, the sound test are almost like a gentle whisper.  I bought a Skype number.  I need to be able to hear the ring come through the speaker when a call comes in.

My headphones (with microphone) works very well.  However, I can't wear my helmet all day just in case someone decides to call me.  HELP PLEASE!

  • Why can I never get a good picture on my imac when using Skype?

Why can I never get a good picture on my imac when using Skype?

I use the free Skype to talk to my friend in China every week. They always see me on their computer or phone clearly, but I can never get a good video of them, clues why? I see a good image of myself, but never of them. I can't adjust the settings of the built-in camera because they are fixed. Is this my router modem, which is 8 years old now. What is causing this problem. If you look on YouTube there are hundreds and thousands of good quality webcam videos then why am I having this eternal problem year after year? I've got El Capitan OSX

If they can see you clearly, the problem is not on your side - at least not in your Mac. Could be the router or you internet connection. Otherwise: https://support.skype.com/en/skype/mac/

  • Laptop G60-549DX (with OS Windows7-problem with the microphone when using Skype)

Just bought a laptop G-60-549DX. His mic is BAD. Voice of cuts to when using Skype. Help!

I was able to solve the problem with the microphone on the G60-549DX when using Skype.  I spend up to 6-8 hours, talk with convenience stores of HP.  They were very friendly and helpful.  The same help a friend.  My friend downloaded updated bios and micro drivers.  HP technician asked me to turn off the laptop, then remove the battery, unplug the power cord. With battery removed and stop, I pressed the market / off power button for a good minute evacuate remaining power into the computer. When I restarted the laptop I micro worked. I did a little more fine-tuning of the installation of the microphone.  Now, it works well on Skype and sound recorder. I won't take this back within the 14 days return policy.  It's a good computer I can say.  The technicians were all very friendly and helpful.  They called me several times to check to see if it still works OK! They are HUGE!  They want to help with any other question, I have perhaps with the computer.  Thank you very much for the help. Everyone was SO helpful.

  • Satellite A660 - Webcam does not work when using Skype

    I recently bought a Satellite A660-15J. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

I have the latest version of Skype (5.3.0.111).

The integrated Webcam does not work when you run Skype. If I run the Toshiba Web Camera Application the webcam works fine. However, when I test it in Skype, I get a message saying "cannot start video. Try quitting other programs that use the webcam '.

However, as far as I can tell there no other programs available. I have tried Skype with the Web Camera Application clised & open. I also confirmed that I do run the latest version of the program.

One of the main reasons we have this laptop is to use Skype video... Help, please.

Disable webcam application start-up and exit this application before you start Skype.

I used Skype many different models of laptops, including friends A660 and it worked correctly.

When you open Skype video settings is listed as default camera USB webcam?

  • Micro works not when using Skype. Problem is not with the microphone, but with Skype. Ive tried

When you use Skype, my internal microphone does not work - friend says that he can not hear the voice, but he can hear other sounds - music on youtube for example. Ive tested the microphone on Skype Echo - it wasn't working at all. I tested it on a voice recorder - MIC was working properly. Also when I just started to use this laptop (3 days ago), I spoke with a friend through Skype for about 3 hours, and then he couldn't hear me suddenly annymore. If something is wrong with Skype. Computer consultant suggested me to contact Skype support technicians.

In Skype, open Tools-> Options-> Audio settings. There is more than one option available in the selection box for Microphone?

  • Whine of high ground by speakers when using the logic or Garage Band

Yesterday, I downloaded and installed Logic Pro. During the last part of the installation process my speakers started to whine. It is not very strong, but quite noticeable and irritating. I use these speakers (Alesis M1 Active 520) for years and have never had this problem.

When I restart, before launching logic, the speakers are silent - which means that there is no groan even when the speakers are turned at full volume. Logic Pro is launched as soon as the whining begins.

When I go in the preferences in the logic and change the parameters of the device, for example I pass the entrance 'none', the whine disappear momentarily while the changes are applied, then it returns a few seconds later. The only way I can get the groan to stop is to choose one output other than "USB Audio Codec" - which then of course I hear nothing of logic, except through the Mac Mini, built in speaker, other sounds play through speakers normally without any annoying groan.

Logic Pro to quit smoking will also stop the whine.

Reminder, my speakers will only commit the groan Logic Pro is running. The moan is noticeable when the speaker (speaker button) is set to a level higher than 30%. I normally set it to about 50-60%.

I just opened Garage Band and it has the same problem. Final Cut Pro X (and any other programs that I use) but do not.

Looks like you have found your comments from your Audio input... maybe the built in Mic?

That switch off in the preferences Audio Logic... by choosing a different input audio and see if that fixes it.

  • voice bouncy when using Skype

My voice is bouncy and missed on the receiver side, when we are on Skype. I speak directly to the laptop, no microphone.

    Hello

-What operating system is installed on your computer?

I recommend you to check if the mix parameters for the applications you use are activated.

    a. launch the Skype video chat.
    b. click on the volume icon in the taskbar.
    c. click mixer.
    d. under Applications, select that is to reactivate the sound for all running applications.
    e. check if the problem persists.

If the problem persists, post your question on Skype: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showforum=5

  • computor becomes himself again and when using Skype or google + when video

have dissconnected Skype and still have problem on google +.

I don't think that any of these ideas some will be your problem and would do everything below until you first check to see if your video drivers are current.  How people can offer suggestions when we don't know anything about your system?

Since the MS Answers forum does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

What Internet browser do you use when you encounter these problems?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

    Now make some clarifications:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here.

For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

If your system is crashing and restarting, you say XP does not automatically restart when there is a problem.  Then you will be able to see the error message the next time it happens.

    Here's how:

XP restarts on system failure, so automatically configure your system so it does not, then you can see the error message.

Configure your system does not automatically restart on system failure and to create a crash dump file when it crash.

Right click my computer, properties, advanced, startup and recovery settings.

    In the system failure section:

Put a check mark in the box "write an event to the system log.
Put a check mark in the box "send an administrative alert.
    Uncheck 'automatically restart '.

In the Write debugging information section select:

    Partial dump (64 KB)

    Set the directory small dumpster:

    %SystemRoot%\Minidump

Click OK, OK to save the settings.

Restart your computer and wait for the next reboot/crash.

If you can only start in Mode safe and see a BSOD, in the menu options of Safe Mode.
Choose the option that says XP do not automatically restart on system failure:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Then you can see the BSOD when it happens again.

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:

    http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg

Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).

Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.

Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

If there is a name of the file listed in the STOP message, don't forget to include that too.

    1. What is the exact error you get when you try to install Skype on Direct X?

  • Login/password screen empty when using Skype

    Hello

I have a problem I guess that many of us, Skype users. Updated Skype automatically the latest version and now won't show the screen of login/pswd. Has obtained the 11 most recent IE and all my notes from Windows Update are updated. Seems that my Internet Explorer browser does not correctly work tho, he guard 'think' trying to find/connection on something. I use Win 7 64 bit and have not had any problems until this mid-December.

My desktop computer works very well with all the updates, but my laptop keeps bugging me.

Thanks in advance and hope someone can help me.

It seems that you have installed McAfee and Avast. Two different antivirus running applications can cause conflicts. Make sure that McAfee is completely uninstalled.

  • Blackscreen when using Skype

So I never had this problem with the earlier version of Skype but there has been a recent update 6.18. Whenever I receive or try to call someone or watch my webcam settings in the settings of my screen goes black and does not display the message "no signal". I uninstalled Skype and all struck from the register and tried to go down but not had any luck (Skype took retire all previous versions? if yes why because it sucks) anyway, I will include a series of DxDiag.

Also my webcam works fine on other programs.

Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the version of Skype 6.14.0.104.

You can make use of this download link:

Also, be sure to turn off the automatic updates.
