  Hello! I recently installed at El Capitan (10.11.2) and appeared the Mavericks and iPhoto updates in the App Store. I managed to solve the problem in iPhoto by removing the application from the computer, but the Mavericks update is always present and will not let you do anything.   The version of FaceTime on your computer is correct for your operating system. The version available on the App Store is for earlier operating systems.

  The problem is most likely an attempt to update a system malfunction prior it is probably a problem with your computer, not the El Capitan.

  Start by:

  Reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

  MacIntel: Reset of the controller (SMC) system management

  Start in Safe Mode , and then re - start normally. It's slower that a normal start, so be patient.

  If you are unable to start;

  Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

  Please make sure that you back up.

  3. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) entry of the volume in the list aside.

  Have you tried clicking on the icon in the Mac App Store to see what is happening? In the past, the Mac App Store will say that version will not run on your operating system & offer to download the latest compatible version. I don't think this has changed, but I don't have a Mac in El Capitan to try.
