Stop clearing no user/system cache Firefox.

I use FF 8.0 with Windows.

The total cache under options-> advanced-> network fluctuates, goes up and down without my having unblocked. The result is slower loading of the page, because, it seems, some sites or data have been removed from the cache.

How can I stop this, then it clears only when I delete it manually? Thank you.

I think I have fixed the compensation without problem of entry cache.

1. go to Options-> advanced-> network. Check the automatic management of the cache of substitution.
2. all: put config, highlight "browser. cache. check_doc_frequency.' Right-click, and then click on edit. Enter the value '0' or ' 2'.

The cache will build until manually.

  • Warm-up system Cache of files for performance of BDB

    Hello

We use the BDB LPD - package I for our application.

With our current configuration of the machine, we have

    (1) 64 GB OF RAM
    (2) 40-50 GB - size data Berkeley DB

To warm the Cache of the file system, we cat files .jdb to/dev/null (to minimize disk access)

    for example

Read all the files in the directory jdb
    p = Runtime.getRuntime () .exec ("cat" + authority + "*.jdb > / dev/null 2 > & 1");

Our application checks if new data are available every 15 minutes, if new data is available, then we delete any old reference and new charges given with Cat *.jdb >/dev/null

I would like to know that if something like this can be done to improve the playback performance of BDB, if not is there a better way to Warm Up Cache system?

    Thank you

We did a lot of testing with how to best use the memory to maximize performance of the BDB performance.

You will get better and more predictable performance to have everything in the DB cache. If the size on the 40-50 GB drive you mention includes the use of 50% by default, then it should be able to adapt. I probably wouldn't use a JVM greater than 56 GB and a greater than 80% percentage of database cache. But this depends a lot on the size of the keys and values in the database. More keys and values, the closer the DB cache size will be the size of the drive on. The option preloads Charles points out what can pull in cache to reach peak performance as soon as possible, but depending on your disk subsystem that can still take more than 30 minutes.

If everything does not fit in the DB cache, so your best bet is to devote as much memory as possible to the file system cache. You will always need a sufficient database cache to store the internal btree database nodes. For our application and a set of data of this size, that would mean a FMV of approximately 5 GB and a percentage of cache of database of around 50%.

I would also experiment with the help of CacheMode.EVICT_LN or even CacheMode.EVICT_BIN to reduce the pressure on the garbage collector. If you have something in the file system cache, you will have fast enough access to it (maybe 25-50% faster if it is in the database cache, while pulling the disc is 1-5% faster), unless you have a very high locality between requests, you are unable to put it into the database cache. What we found was that data was drawn from the disc, put it in the DB cache, there remained long enough to be promoted during the GC to the older generation, and then she was expelled from the DB cache. This trash from long lifespan put a lot of pressure on the garbage collector and led to very large stopover of the world GC times. If your application does not have the requirements of latency, it might not matter as much to you. By setting the cache mode for a database on CacheMode.EVICT_LN, actually say you BDB to not get the value or (LN = leaf) in the cache.

Relying on the file system cache is more unpredictable, unless you control everything that happens on the system, since it is easy for the BDB database parts to get expelled. To prevent that from happening, I recommend you to read files more frequently than every 15 minutes. If the files are in the file system cache, then cat'ing them should be quick. (During a test, we ran, "cat *.jdb >/dev/null" took 1 minute when the files are on the disc, but only 8 seconds, while they were in the cache file system.) And if the files are not all in the file system cache, then you want to get them rather sooner than later. In addition, if you use Linux, you can use "echo 1 >/proc/sys/vm/drop_caches" to clear the file system cache. This could be useful during testing. Something else to watch out for with ZFS on Solaris is that sequentially read a large file can not pull in the file system cache. To prevent the cache to be polluted, it assumes that sequentially reading a large file does not mean you can do a lot of random reads in this file later, so "cat *.jdb > / dev/null" couldn't pull the files in the ZFS cache.

That sums up our experience with the help of the cache for the data of the BDB file system, but I don't know how much of it will result in your application.

Photosmart B110 stopped printing (mac users)

My printer, which worked very well last week suddenly stopped working. It is not configured for the wireless, but is connected by cable to my Mac (OS 10.6.8). The printer is turned on, the computer attempts to send that message printer is put on the queue. Then it disconnects. But befoee does, it does not print the last piece (5 lines), text file, then a line of gibberishg.

I went through the page, deleted in case of problem, printer drivers according to the instructions but then realized I couldn't add them back again. The Mac can't "see" the printer with the USB cable. And there seems to be no way to add them to the "add a printer". It is empty.

So now, I can't even all print.

Would appreaciate any help I can get. Thank you.

    Hello

Try to restart the Mac and printer and check any change.

So make sure that the most recent driver is installed by clickign the icon Apple, then software update.

If this does not help solve the problem try to reset the system as follows:

    * Be aware that reset the printer system will eliminate any existing queue and reset all custom settings driver.

Click on the Apple menu and then click on System Preferences.
    Select print & fax.
Right click (or Ctrl + click) your product with the Printers list in the left panel and then click on reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user name and password.
Click OK. The printing system resets.

Now go to Applications > Hewlett-Packard > utility device, follow the HP installation wizard and try to print again.

  • Stop, or manage the system, daily update volume information

My Vista computer starts his incessant drive fly at 17:45 every day and continues for about 20 minutes.  Indexing is disabled, the defragmentation is disabled, no program updates are running, and nothing is "intended" to run at this time, as shown in my task scheduler.  Process Explorer displays the culprit (unlikely) the System Volume Information update of crud that take place.

My question: is it possible to stop this activity on-site, or forever, without disabling the system restore works?  Note: I got my restoration of the system to be updated automatically once a month, and yet this crud Sys information theft goes on daily.  Help!

    Hello

By default, the system restore takes up to 15% of the total capacity of your hard drive under Vista. It is not possible to stop the update of system volume information.

System Volume Information is a hidden folder protected operating system on each disk partition, which stores information for the system restore function.

However, the cliché reserves a portion of each volume containing Previous Versions enabled in order to store the shadow copies. By default, the space reserved for shadow copies is 15% of the size of the volume. You can use the command-line tool Vssadmin.exe to change the size of this reserved space.

To reclaim space by deleting all but the last restore point follow the steps mentioned below.

    a. Click Start, and then select all programs.

    b. click on Accessories

    c. click System Tools

    d. click on Disk Cleanup

    e. If it makes the files to clean up, select files from all users on your computer.

    f. If it invites the reader to clean, select (c :))

    g. click on More Options

    h. click on clean under System Restore and shadow copies

    i. click on Remove

    j. click OK

    k. click on delete files

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

Apple devices like iPads don't leave caches in the system? Yes or no.  If yes how system caches can be deleted?

    Yes.

IOS or system caches are called "Documents & Data" or D & D for short and 'others '. They can be seen by plugging your iOS device on iTunes - on the Summary tab down there will be bar display accurately. They cannot be deleted. The only way to reset is to do a system restore. A restore will reduce the size of D & D and others, but they will start to grow again. However, applications have caches that can be deleted. Safari for example > you can delete all Cookies and data. For other applications, it depends on the application.

The system restore. First save your device via iTunes. Also import your photos on your computer and copy all the data if possible. Reconstruction of the support first test and test. If this does not help, you may need to restore as a new and reconfigure from scratch as the backup may be damaged. It is important to have your photos and your saved data separately from the backup. • Windows 7 Administration group names of users or all delete them (users, SYSTEM, ect, batch)

Hey all who read this, first time I've used this site before, please excuse any errors or all what I do = S

Right, that's my problem, I'm pretty good with computers, my knowledge is limited, however, I recently had a laptop to use at the University, this computer laptop is a HP g6000 and has windows 7 loaded on board but did not have Vista originally.

I started the machine and the former owner somehow deleted all Windows 7 Administration group or usernames (user, SYSTEM, ect, lot) and to this effect, I can't do anything! Access is denied on the C drive, any changes to files, restore, even delete a word document do appear a mistake, ive tried safe mode, activating the hidden via Cmd prompt administrator and create a new user with administration, still does not work, seems to me that Windows 7 is not even who is allowed to do what more and won't let me do anything , I really would appreciate any help I really need it to do my studies in College, I have not had any dics or anything with the laptop computer, and just to make things a lot bigger, the Cd drive only opens when you first start when windows is loaded its does not appear under "My computer" and ceases to exist...

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much

Just to add, when I go to computer > C drive > properties > security, it displays a message saying that I'm not allowed to see/touch anything, person = P, if that's any help.

Yes, sorry, I had to do was...

My computer > right click on the C drive > properties > Security tab > click on Advanced > go to the tab "Owner" > click Edit > tick the box at the bottom that says "Replace the owner of subcontainers and objects" > highlight your current user account in the "change Onwer to: ' box > then click on apply!

This will grant the selected user full access and control of the administrator, may take several minutes to change.

  • Word document and clearing the Blackberry browser cache automatically

I hope that is clear enough, let me give you general information.

I developed an application of launchpad for launching the BB browser and it points to a Web site on the intranet that allows end-users to access a word document.

The end users have access to this document periodically throughout the day to see it has updated content.

The content of this document is updated regularly throughout the day, a problem arises, however, as the browser cache a copy of this document once it is loaded at the start and can be only manually clear the cache of the browser via the OPTIONS > DELETE the BROWSING DATA > now CLEAR will allow the end user see the updated document to update. This aspect should be done whenever the user wants to see the document, which is unacceptable.

I realize account by using a word document is not an optimal solution, but under certain constraints, it was the only option available at the moment, which brings me to my question.

Y at - it no practical way, whether programmatically, through BES settings or programmatically so that the browser delete it has cached content automatically?

All of these options are excluded, are there no known method to simulate clicks, or control on a BB, be internally via the BB API or even 3 options part where this might be film script in the app to ban? (think windows GUI automation similar to AutoIt or something in that sense).

Basically, I need a solution where the end user will not need to go into the options and delete the data itself, I realize this is the simple answer to this problem, but there are reasons why this isn't an option.

I searched the forums here, but also google extensively and found previously that similar surveys were not happy with the results, I hope the further development or even 3rd party solutions may have been raised for this problem.

Any input would be much appreciated.

    Hi @GSPSDev,

On the first issue, caching is done based on the URL instead of emptying the cache, all you have to do is add a timestamp to the URL query string and the browser does not load the document from the cache. For example: If your original URL is: http://foo.bar/a.doc, then each time your shipment a request, send it to: http://foo.bar/a.doc?t=%timestamp% (timestamp is simply the value of System.currentTimeInMillis ()).

On the second issue, the BB API allows you to simulate clicks of the user using the EventInjector:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/developers/docs/5.0.0api/NET/rim/device/API/system/EventInjector.html

    Hope that helps,

    E.
