Stop firefox update

So more updates stop functionality of addons, I NEED every DAY! I would rather ONLY UPDATE AFTER MY NECESSARY ADDONS ARE COMPATIBLE. Except that IE is as functional as Firefox. Without functioning addons Firefox is useless. Please allow us (the user) can wait until the addons are compatible before us (user) choose to update.

In Linux, there are two versions of Firefox - the provided distro version you have, and the 'official' version that comes directly from Mozilla. Provided distribution versions have their own update system that is controlled from outside Firefox. Disabling of updates is done in the operating system, not in the individual program.

Regarding the modules and updated Firefox goes from Firefox 10 any extension that has been properly updated for Firefox 4.0 and later versions must continue to work and be disabled, with the exception of extensions that contain binary files - affecting users of Linux.

Specifically, what modules were disabled after a Firefox 10 + update?

When FF starts, I get a popup permissions administrator asking me to run Firefox Software Updater - every time. This, despite the fact that I have all the updates turned off under Tools > Options > advanced > update. Execution of Win8 FF28 with no. • How can I stop firefox update pages permanently? I have to click 'back' to dozens of times if I'm on a page for more than 15 seconds.

each page in each open tab refreshes all the 30 seconds and each time it is saved in my cache. If I want to go back to the previous page, I have to click on to return once the 30 seconds, I was on the current page. Very annoying! He just started this recently, and I don't know why. I have reset the subject: config to '0', but that has not helped.

Charging each does not appear in the details of the system more attached to your first posting here, you have something else there.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see how it works there.

A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.

The problems of Firefox using Firefox SafeMode

    When in Safe Mode...

    • The State of plugins is not affected.
    • Custom preferences are not affected.
    • All extensions are disabled.
    • The default theme is used, without a character.
    • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored.
    • The layout of the default toolbar is used.
    • The JIT Javascript compiler is disabled.
    • Hardware acceleration is disabled.
    • You can open the mode without failure of Firefox 15.0 + by pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.

If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

Or it could be caused by hardware acceleration.

When find you what is causing that, please let us know. It might help others who have this problem.

  • Can not stop auto update latest firefox version

    Hello

I googled a lot of answers about stopping the automatic update of firefox. But unable to do it and not be able to use the functionality offered in the context of the browser. I have to do this deliberately to have my selenium framework support the static browser version like every last updated maybe not having a ready selenium supported server.

I did what follows, but not luck.

    (1) tools-> Options-> advanced-> update-> Set to "never check...". ». After reboot, the option is set to "automatically install...". ».
    (2) in the about: config-> set the following as below:

    ----- app.update.url = null
    ----- app.update.url.details = null
    ----- app.update.url.manual = null
    ----- app.update.mode = 0
    ----- app.update.silent = false

But still when I go to-> Firefox; Updates automatically start the download.

Is there a solution to stop the auto-update feature and I would like to download/upgrade to update firefox by me manually. Why build it in function does not work?

Am on company Win7 64-bit Service Pack 1.

"But still when I go to-> Firefox; Updates automatically start the download. "

This isn't the automatic update, causing the update - it triggers a manual update when you open Firefox. At least until this was changed in Firefox 37.0

IMO, when using selenium, you would be better served by using the version of ESR (Extended Support Release) of Firefox. He receives an update of major version of each 8 quick release version updates. You receive security updates without the major version change, and without receiving all of the new features like the release of versions have. ESR is intended 'institutional', but there is no ban on regular users by using ESR.

  • Firefox continues to try to update each time I open the browser, and it then puts a message saying update failed. It does this on both of my computers. The most recent version, the other does not. How can I stop Firefox to do this?

Firefox continues to try to update each time I open the browser, and it then puts a message saying update failed. It does this on both of my computers. We already have the latest version, the other does not. How can I stop Firefox to do this?

If there are problems with the implementation at day then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to remove all remaining files.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current version of Firefox, if possible.

    • Do NOT remove the data of a personal nature when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data, because all profile files will be deleted.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

After 24 of Firefox update, Windows 7 breaks after the reboot. The network in the taskbar icon is not ready (blue circle on the wireless network icon). But I can't do much. I can't open the network and sharing Center (never opened). Even the Task Manager hangs when I click to show processes from all users. I have to do a system restore for a network working again. I never even launched Firefox.

  • after firefox updated the last time, adobe as well updated, now when some loading sites, I have a program needs you permission to continue which is Adobe DLM. What's up with that and how do I stop?

The problem started when firefox updated at startup. This screen is what vista puts whenever you are about to load something again. I have already installed the adobe update twice and it continues.

The Adobe DLM is not required for Adobe products to work. You can uninstall it open the control panel and select Add / Remove programs. In the list of programs, select Adobe DLM (may be listed as Adobe Download Manager) and click on delete.

  • disable the firefox updates

It becomes quite annoying that Firefox should update and change the layout of the browser so frequently. I like that Firefox is the addition of new features, but not if big I have to keep relearning to use the same program. Because there is no option to keep my browser looking for the same thing, I would like to know how to disable the updates.
As much as I fear, Firefox is not actually address any major security concern (sorry, ' different security patches is not quite cut it for me, Firefox still does not support sandbox like Chrome or IE 9), so there is really no necessary for me to learn how to use my new browser every two weeks.

If there is no way to stop the updates or keep my browser looking for the same thing, I'm going to switch to Chrome. I thought I'd ask first however.

There was a previous way by going through the Options menu, but after this, when you go to help > on Firefox, it would update regardless of this setting.

You can set these prefs in about:config to turn off the automatic update:

    App.Update.auto - false

    App.Update.Enabled - false

    App.Update.Silent - false

  • After update will not completely re-checkin for update and then reloading the firefox update page. (all deleted and the problem persists).

Firefox updated as I wanted. Now, each I reopen the application is going through the screen of loading/updating before the opening of Firefox. When she opens the Firefox update page loads. I emptied everything (cache, connections, history, etc.). It will not stop. I hesitated uninstalling and reinstalling because it isn't always re - import settings, bookmarks, etc.. Love this browser and all software you provide.

    Hello Paul,

You should look at this article on this specific issue and Preferences not savedarticle. It could be a problem of pref.js. It should give you all the information you need!

    If this does not work:

    1. Enter about: config in the address bar
    2. Click I'll be careful, I promise you if prompted
    3. In the filter field, type Startup
    4. Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    5. Delete the text string, and then click OK
    6. Close Firefox and reopen the window to check that it worked.

    Hope this helps!
