Stop repeat the Windows updates

I receive repeat orders to install Windows updates even if I installed it. It is underway for more than a week now. I tried the Fix It tool, but it didn't work. How to stop Windows sending me the same updates to install?

I have Vista, 32 bit, Service Pack 2 installed.

I am running Windows XP with Service pack 3. Microsoft Security essentials is the security system. When trying to run Windows Update using Internet Explorer 8, at the point of the page is to check that if my system is the correct update software, the page fails, finally displaying the message "Internet Explorer has stopped to try to restore this Web site. It seems that the Web site continues to be a problem. "This is repeated each time I have repeat the initial attempt, or click 'Back to the microsoft.com site' on the error page. Is the problem with the Microsoft web page (the address is www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx ) or on my computer?

When I try to run Windows Update... to the point that the page is to check If my system is correct, update software the page can't...  Is the problem with the web page of Microsoft ( www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx ) or on my computer?

You are correct George: whenever you access the site Windows or Microsoft Update, Windows Update will take care of updating itself. that is, it looks for updates available from the Windows Update Agent or the customer allows you to update your system.

    Since June 21, 2012 a WUA new version 7. 6. 7600. 256 aired by WU to automatically update itself its version now aged 7. 4. 7600. 226 .

The problem you see may occur when there is a version mismatch of the file with the Windows Update Agent files, which is a mixture of old files with the new files. This is due to an installation "or damaged."

You can take a look at your windowsupdate.log file located in your WINDOWS directory, to check the error codes - missing files or failling updated files (especially c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll, wups2.dll, c:\windows\system32\wups.dll or wuweb.dll).

Newly installed OS - everything seems to work fine, except for the shot without end to WIndows update... Verification of updates. Apparently, this affects the update of Windows 10 as well. Someone at - it ideas? I tried all the options via the site help MS. Merci.

    Greetings,

    Please read this.

You can wait patiently (updates will appear later) or there is a problem in the article.

You need to reinstall Windows for the fix. Your PC must be isolated from the network when reinstalling windows. You need to download both updates and install before connecting your PC to the network.

I used the fix of Ed Bott and it works. But I reinstalled Win 7 again. I wasn't going to wait for hours and hours to get the security updates.

You can try to install these updates on the problematic installation of Win 7:

    1. apply the Microsoft patch found here. Disconnect from the network.

    2. install the two updates in offline mode and cross your fingers.

    3. repeat on Windows Update.

Suddenly, about a week after that, I got a pop up Antivirus Soft that wouldn't let me do anything.  I knew what IT was.  Has jumped on another computer and discovered how what file to look in the registry to hack.  Started in safe mode and remove outside.  Update my Lavasoft Ad-Aware free edition and scanned.  Nothing detected.  Maintained have BSOD a few days later.

It depends on the timeline.  If the scanning and cleaning of malware that you listed was made after February 12, then you can still be infected due to the restoration of the system.
Therefore, I would say that you are running an analysis of potential threats, before installing the updates.   Also, take a look at this sticky post:

  • I can't get updates since SP2 installation and update of the Windows Update Agent.

I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  I have done 3 installs clean for several days and each time I install SP2 and update the Windows Update Agent I can't get updates.  When I click search for updates, it just keeps looking for hours and hours and never stops looking.  I tried several solutions on the internet, including those found here.  Of course, the first thing I did was run the Fixit of Windows Update tool.  He could not solve any problems found.  He gave the error code 0 x 80070005.  I installed the SubInAcl.exe and run several different command text and a text of the batch.  The batch text did nothing.  The texts of order had errors of syntax and a file, he could not access.  I ran the System File Checker, and it finds errors, it could not fix.  I just did a clean install on this machine 6 or 8 months ago because I was going to get rid of the computer, so when I put in place I used the username user.  I came across no problem at all when I installed the operating system and update everything.  Since then, I decided to keep the computer, so I wanted to have it in my name.  As I said, this is my 3rd try.  I am willing to give.  Maybe someone here can help.

I tried two clean installs and I get the same thing.  Once I have installed SP2 and the new Agent update, I can't get more updates.  It keeps only the search for hours without results or error messages.  I tried all of the suggestions I found on the internet, but nothing works.  I get always the same error code 0x80070005, when I run the Fixit of Windows Update tool.  There must be a way to solve this problem.  Why I was able to do a clean install of 6 or 8 months without any problems, but now I can't.  It makes no sense at all.  I really hope someone who knows the answer reads this.

    Ralph C.

I finally got it!  I tried two other proposed solutions, then I ran the System File Checker, which is no problem, then I ran Check Disk.  Check disk found and repaired files in the file system of BITS among others.  After that, I'm now completely up to date with Windows Update.  I was ready to give up.  I'm glad I did not.  For anyone else having similar problems, don't give up, the answer is there.

    Ralph C.

You receive errors related to updates?

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.
    2. In the left pane, click view update history. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/see-which-Windows-updates-are-installed
    3. Find an update for Windows that has failed to install, and then double-click the update to view more information. Updates that have failed to install will display failed under status, next to the name of update.
    4. In the Windows Update dialog box, next to the details of the error, review the error code for the update has failed.
    5. Follow the links in the Windows Update dialog box under more information or help and Support to resolve the problem, then try to reinstall updates by using Windows Update in Control Panel or by mail with the error code and maybe someone may be able to help others.
