  I have a 50 pages of 10 MB pdf magazine produced from InDesign (CS4) that contains many hyperlinks. Pdf optimization using brings below 5MB it kills all hyperlinks.   For those of you who are interested, after extensive experimentation, I discovered it's the transparency checkbox in the optimizer that kills links to domestic destinations. It should be disabled to preserve the links. I don't know why this should be the case (that have to do with transparency, hyperlinks?) and it took me an age to discover this. Thank you for the other suggestions.

  Change the properties of the button or click box. Look to the right where you typed the file name or URL. You should see a button with an arrow pointing downwards. Click on the button and choose new. I'm guessing that part has already been done, because you declare continues merrily on film and you don't want it.

  Click that same key a second time and you should notice there is an option, you must click to turn off. It's called "continue playing project." Clear the check box and the movie should finally stay put until your username is ready.

  Files should always be downloaded if you want to open.
  
  Some are saved in the cache disk (Flash for example) and others in the temp folder (those passed to other external programs and plugins).

  Personally, I would contact support for your software scanning or their OCR software. Looks like the player does everything it is supposed to do.

  In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not to open PDF files with the internal PDF reader to Firefox), do the following:

  1. Go to Tools > Options (or Firefox > Options).
  2. In the Options window, select the Applications tab.
  3. In the Search box, type PDF. You should find Portable Document Format (PDF).
  4. On the right referring, you should find a column of Action . To select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDFs in Firefox, choose Preview in Firefox.

  Please try following steps to stop opening PDF result after printing:

  Click Start-> device and printers-> right click on 'Adobe PDF' printer-> printing preferences-> uncheck the option "view Adobe PDF results".

  There is nothing you can do to prevent a viewer to navigate on their own through a PDF file. One method would be to open the PDF file in mode full screen, this hides the navigation tab. But a viewer can use arrows to go from page to page, ignoring the links in the PDF file. And the viewer can hit the ESC key to return to the normal display. Another option would be to use a swf export, pdf indstead, but seriously depends on how you plan to distribute this portfolio.
