stopping applications of print spooler

Hi gurus.

I stuck a strange print spooler problem that I would like advice on. I read the solutions presented, but I'm not sure of the relevance that they are.  I'm still collecting information but need a referral on exactly what would be useful.

We have 5 computers of different types with windows 7 (home premium) or windows 10, all with the same symptoms. About 3 weeks ago all suddenly started having problems with the print spooler.  If the computers are restarted, they will work for a while, then office (word, excel, access and outlook) .exc excel, excel, access and outlook applications) stops responding. Will not charge or will stop when you select the print function. Stop the spooler of pint immediately solves the problem.  But once it is restarted the problem reoccur later.

There are several different printers, including a couple of connected network and also a USB printer. 3 different printrr models.

I am told that there has been no new application or software loaded nor were updates applied at the time the problem occurred first, although Microsoft patches are applied automatically so that they can not have noticed a.

Does anyone have ideas on where to start on this one?

Thank you

I'm not Bruce (although I can see why you might have thought if :-)).

You haven't seen a 'Version 3' as in this picture (or, as Bruce page, may be Version 2 or both):

It can be a bit difficult to find the utility appropriate among everything in the Resource Kit.  Try to download just cleanspl.exe there--> http://honestpchelp.com/2011/cleanspl-exe-print-spooler-cleaner/ (which is not my site, but I downloaded the file in the past and it seems to be both authentic and malware-free).

  • print spooler stopped

Shutdown abnormally and now take print spooler stop.  I restart the spooler, but it stops again.  How can I fix it?  I should point out that I tried to uninstalled/reinstalled the HP printer, what has not worked.  I also tried to use Microsoft FIX it, that does not work either (it took me to a place that wanted to redo the records of money.

I also tried to use Microsoft FIX it, that does not work either (it took me to a place that wanted to redo the records of money.

I would be very interested in what site you were directed and whether there was a link to this site as part of the FixIt.

Often, but not always, the symptoms you describe are caused by a corrupt print job stuck in the queue or a damaged printer driver.  However before you clean things up, on general principles, that you can download, install, update and run full scans with each of these two free programs:

    AntiMailware MalwareBytes
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not operate the two scans simultaneously.  Each will take a long time, so start it and then go do something else for a while.

    Cleaning of printers

NOTE: If after completing step has the print spooler is not always running after you launched the command "net start spooler", you will not be able to follow all the steps in "First Article".  Instead, go to the other link and download and get and use the utility 'cleanspl' such as described here.

NOTE 2: Please identify your printer.  HP printer designations have more than a number.  They could be DeskJets, LaserJet, OfficeJets, or something else.

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

    B. clean the old printer drivers and install the latest drivers by using the directions in One Article.  If you have (or had) a Lexmark printer, follow the instructions on the following site before installing the new drivers, as explained in its first Article: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

  • How to start the print spooler service because it stopped

local print spooler service stopped working on vista how to restart

Double-click the print spooler service to view its page properties...
go to the TAB more far away on the right, should be "dependencies".
It should display a list of components or services that must be running in order for the spooler service is running.
The bottom in the properties page window shows the services that must run so that the components to run...
in essence, you would have a trail leading you exactly what service it is not working, which prevents the spooler service to run.
