Strange keyboard on Satellite M211 problem

Hello!

I'm Belgian and my English is not perfect, then, first of all I would like to apologize for this.

I have a Satellite M211 of China (QWERTY keyboard) and I don't know what happened, but yesterday when I'm on to use it, I discovered that the keyboard has completely changed (when I type '9' are '39' coming, when I hit 8 here "87" to come,...), all the keys have changed and it is impossible for me to use the keyboard.

I noticed that there was a light under the 'F10', and it was new, as when the keyboard is normal this light won t.
So I want to know how can I solve this problem of keyboard and turn off the light (I already try to 'Fn' 'F10', this does not work).

Thank you

I don't know how it works on the Chinese notebook models but you try using FN + F10 or maybe FN + F11. It is important to disable this LED and a built-in keyboard.

When activated, the keys with the grey wire marking on their lower edge are either pad keys (FN + F11) or the keys (FN + F10) slider control.

My Toshiba M40 has been giving me problems keyboard quite frequently. I funny characters like NB¬A
When I press the left SHIFT key and then the keyboard starts abnormal behavior:

    1. He moved to uppercase mode - to type letters more low, I actually have to use the caps lock.
    2. I can't use the SHIFT key to type the special characters figures.
    3. by clicking on the menu bar gives me a different effect, as if the SHIFT key is down already as it is not.
    4. press the button right shift takes me to the "Save" option

And then let fall, shut down the computer (it does not restart at this time)
After a while, the computer starts normally, but I'm never sure when it will start to behave badly again.
Read about the update of the bios, so I got mine upgraded to version 1.7 of the toshiba Web site (this is the most recent they had for machines with ATI graphics card).
Sometimes, I use an external keyboard when the problem occurs repeatedly.

would appreciate advice on how to overcome this software / hardware problem.

    Hey Ashok,

It is not easy to say what is causing this strange behavior, especially since it also occurs with an external keyboard. One clue is that the laptop does not restart once you stop it unless leave you for a short period. This suggests that the unit is overheating and that it may well have an impact on the unit that is causing your problems.

I suggest that you try to give the laptop a clean to remove any accumulation of dust and debris from radiator CPU.

  • A key on keyboard on Satellite L100 problem

Bought my L100 Satellite in July last year. Problem is that I need a lot more pressure to press the key 'a' all the others. How can I fix?

Can I get the keyboard to check why it is almost blocked? I had no problem when I bought this laptop.

If you remove all of the keyboard you will lose the warranty and I would not risk the guarantee because of the unique keyboard key.

But you can remove the unique key of the keyboard Plug and check if there is dirt or something else with a bad influence for the key mechanism.

For a replacement keyboard, you will need to contact the service partner in your country? ¦

  • Keyboard on Satellite A200 problem

Hi, while hoping a bit of insight into what the problem may be with my Satellite A200.

It started with one single key works does not, then one other has stopped working. Then I would press a key, but it would come with a different letter on the screen. Then it got really bad, I couldn't use the keyboard at all because of the random letters would seem I typed, eventually escalating to the point where letters would appear constantly on the screen when the keyboard has not been affected.

Tried to uninstall and reinstall driver, did not help. Tried a usb keyboard which was great until tonight. Usb keyboard or the laptop keyboard are working when tapped, yet sometimes random letters appear on the screen.

I was ready to replace the keyboard if it was just a problem of keyboard, but now I'm wondering if it might be the motherboard. Everyone knows the same or similar problem?

Nothing has been spilled on the keyboard.

    Thanks for your help.

It's very confusing when the keyboard USB doesn t work too. At first, I thought faulty keyboard, it must be, but I'm afraid there is a serious hardware problem and I don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help.

I noticed that my language settings have changed since the English Australia (US) on the United States in English (US)... would this be causing the problem.

By the way, have replaced the keyboard... ran scans as its no fun and updated all the drivers... This laptop is clean as a whistle, so to speak...

Thanks for any help you can provide...

    > I noticed that my language settings have changed since the English Australia (US) on the United States in English (US)... would this be causing the problem.

I don t think that this could provoke the question because the keyboard language settings would only change the keyboard layout.
However, if you want to you can go back to the previous language.

Microsoft has released beautiful instruction how to change these settings:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/258824/en-us

But as I said above, it doesn't look like the problem was related to this setting.
There is probably a hardware keyboard problem and you need to replace the keyboard in order to get the buttons working properly.

Hmmm. have you activated the keyboard FN + F11 or FN + F10 options?

Notwithstanding these option may be enabled everything looks like a malfunction of the keyboard. In the worst cases, the keyboard needs to be replaced!

  • Strange screen on Satellite L300 problem

I have a laptop Satellite L300. Lower third of the screen is gray and the right side of the bottom has third vertical lines of color similar to a bar code on a supermarket product.

If possible, connect your laptop to external monitor or a television to see if the same appears here.

If so, this is caused by a faulty graphics card. If not that cell phone s display defective and must be replaced.

  • Satellite L750D - issue strange keyboard/touchpad

Hi guys, I'm new here and I hope you can help me.

    I have a Satellite L750D here who has a strange keyboard/touchpad issue.

Recently, my screen was replaced and I toke the possibility of replacing the DD by a SDS.

I used the OS restore cd that I created from the partition recovery and completely reinstalled Windows 7 64 - Bit ones.

Everything seemed to work well after the last restart.

Then my after reboot, the keyboard was not working and or the touchpad.
I tried to restart / stop and start again, no change.

I plugged a USB keyboard and mouse, both work perfectly.

I reinstalled the drivers of touchpad on Toshiba site, still no change.

Then, I closed the lid and leave Notepad go into sleepmode/setting standby extended and found that when I opened the lid/screen, the keyboard was working again, but not the touchpad.

Fn + F9 made no difference.

I then pressed the button above the touchpad, but the touchpad remained dead. But after pressing this button, the keyboard went dead too!
The key for the touchpad power made no difference, the keyboard or the touchpad remained dead.

Given zero made no difference either.

Throw the drivers in safe mode led the pilots to be reinstalled, but both keyboard and the touchpad remained dead.

The only thing to bring back the keyboard is the cover and goes sleepmode/setting to Hibernate and wake up to the laptop.

But press the button above the keyboard and the touchpad is dead again.

Started from a Windows 7-LIVE CD, both keyboard and the touchpad remained dead.
Started from a live CD of Ubuntu Linux, keyboard works, no mather, you press the button for the touchpad, but the touchpad
    died.

Is there anything else I can try, or what I have to assume there's something defect requiring hardware repair/replacement?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Kind regards
    Jan

I plugged a USB keyboard and mouse, both work perfectly.

It's really strange... from my point of view of the rare, the mouse and external keyboard works properly, then the controller should be OK, and this means that the anomaly must be linked to the defective keyboard / touchpad.

But on the other hand, you said that the keyboard works correctly starting Linux Live CD.
For me, it makes no sense and I'm confused...

Anyway, given that the laptop has been disassembled to replace the screen and other parties, I think that something went wrong during this process and probably a part has been affected...

In my opinion, it is advisable to replace the keyboard and to check if it will fix the problem.

  • Satellite M40-223: behavior strange keyboard

Hi, I have a problem with my laptop M40-223. Sometimes it happens that the keyboard goes completely crazy, you can't write anything, or just a few letters and all the system becomes unstable and I have to reset (sometimes several times). I don't really know what to do, the system is clean of spyware/malaware, suggestions?

    Thank you in advance,

    L.

Are you sure it s only a problem of keyboard and not a corrupted Windows OS?
The hardware malfunction keyboard is possible that something similar happened on my laptop s a friend. The whole notebook was not accessible because the mouse cursor has jumped on the screen and it was possible to do something
Finally, EPA has replaced the entire keyboard and solved this problem

I m not 100% sure if your keyboard is faulty. I think that the new installation of operating system recovery CD is necessary to ensure that it is a hardware or software problem.

If the same will appear after using the recovery CD then it s definitely a hardware problem and the part must be replaced!

  • Replacement keyboard on Satellite L350

A clumsy friend spilled a glass of red wine on my L350 weekend which resulted in my keyboard malfunctioned.
No problem, I don't think should be easy to get a replacement and mount it.

However, as I took the original keyboard of the laptop I am concerned that I have damaged the connection and my replacement does not work when it arrives.

Basically, the black part of the connector has broken - does anyone know if this is considered part of the laptop or that it will be shipped with a replacement keyboard?

Any idea where I can get a replacement for the part black, if necessary.

    Any advice would be fantastic.

    Thank you.

    > Basically, the black part of the connector broke - does anyone know if this is considered part of the laptop or that it will be shipped with a replacement keyboard?

I m not very well what part you mean.
Usually, the keyboard is connected to the connector s motherboard with a flat cable.
    Do you mean the cable?

If so, then the cable is part of the keyboard and the new cable should arrive with the new keyboard. But the connector on the motherboard is not removable, and if you damage this part, you will need to replace the mobo ;(

I have a PC laptop toshiba Satellite A500-025 and I had a bit of water splashed on keyboard and some keys are no longer works. I was going to replace the keyboard. Mine was purchased in the Canada and has a bilingual English/french keyboard.

I was wondering if I can order a keyboard only English bilinguals are harder to find.
Also if anyone can suggest a site to the order of which is reasonably priced.
    Thank you.

Less expensive keyboard, you can find it on eBay. I ordered two English keyboards for Satellite P300 and L300.
I paid 15 euros for a keyboard. It is not expensive.

  • Re: Satellite A300D - strange keyboard problem

    Hello!

    I have a problem with my Satellite A300D: when I press on 'y' or '5', I get a "y5" and when I press "n" or "b", I get a "nb".
If I hold down y or 5, it seems y5yyy... and with n and b I get nbnnn...

What you think could be the problem? Keyboard? Or some other hardware controller?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

It is difficult to say why this happens, but in your case I would like to connect an external keyboard and check this. You may notice the same behavior?

If not, I think the case is clear: your keyboard internal doesn t work properly and you need a new. Therefore, you can contact a service provider authorized in your country.

By the way: have you checked the keyboard input language?
