Strong wireless connection but no internet access

I am able to connect to the internet via a cable modem, but when I try to use my wireless router I don't get access to the internet none despite the excellent signal strength. My information on the two devices match. I can pick up other signals fine just not my router wireless.

What do you mean by "information"?

What do you mean by "just not my router? Do you mean that you do not have
see same SSID of your own router (network name) in the list of available
wireless networks? If so, connect to your router with an Ethernet cable,
Enter the router configuration utility and make sure that the SSID
broadcast is set to 'enable '. If your router is already configured to
broadcast its SSID, and you don't see it well be able to see the other
near wireless networks, the portion of your router wireless is
cut or broken.

Generally, symptoms such as you describe are caused by a defect of
to authenticate to the router, usually due to a mismatched
password encryption.

  • Wireless connected but no Internet access

I have a new (5 months) Acer Aspire 5732Z which works in Windows 7. Wireless connection shows that it is connected (full bars) but I have no internet access (there is a signal of yellow exclamation over bars error). I have another laptop running Windows XP which connects well to the same wireless router and wireless for Acer worked very well so far. I was on the phone with my ISP and they said, because it shows that the computer is connected to the wireless, they cannot help me. Anyone has any ideas that can help me?

Thank you. I decided to call my Internet provider again and this rep was able to solve the problem without delay. From what I learned, if you get a representative who was not helpful, call again...

  • My wireless connection says "no internet access.

    Original title: Network question

    Hello
I noticed a change in my system. My wireless connection says "no internet access. The other connection, presumably one wired, is OK.
I have no problem on internet and computer my son who is temporarily connected to the same router is also online.
But I wonder what can happen to change that, and what I can do about it. I noticed this when a little yellow exclamation point appears on the network icon in the systray /taskbar.

I spent a lot of time with the guidance of the internet, Cisco install CD, ipconfig and its switches, update drivers for the network adapters, uninstall the card network wireless and relocation, etc.. But the situation remains the same.

I will link to some images what I mean (hope it works).

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    Hi,

You did changes to the computer, before the show?

    Method 1:

Run the network troubleshooter, and check.

Using the troubleshooter from network in Windows 7

  • Network problem - wireless OK but no Internet access

    Hi people,

I'm new here, so apologies if this is the right place! (or someone has already replied to the same question, but I find similar items and couldn't find an answer)

I have a Samsung R590 laptop running Windows 7, which has been brilliant during the last 6 months, and I use BT to my ISP with a Home Hub 2.0 which has again been brilliant since its installation in November.

My wife and my children, each have their own computer laptop, all equipped with Windows Vista and not have no problem connecting to the internet at all.

Last Friday, I turned on my laptop and it quite happily connected to the network via a wireless connection, but could not connect to the internet - I can connect to other laptops in the House (and data transfer to and from them) and to the network printer (and print to it) but I can't get a wireless internet connection.

If I plug in a network cable, evereything works very well.

I tried all the usual methods to restore the connection, restart the router, update device drivers on the laptop, the removal of the card laptop wireless and re - install. I know that there is nothing wrong with the internet connection of like portable Vista all work fine.

I searched the internet and found a lot of people with similar problems, but nobody seems to be able to come to a solution (or if they have I have not seen)

In case it helps to... The R590 uses a Broadcom Wireless Card, and the diagnostic test result is the following:

"The router/AP wireless for your network works, but your computer is not able to use an IP address to connect to the Internet. You will not be able to connect to the Internet, although you might be able to connect to your local network. Contact your network administrator or the installer of the router/wireless access point. »

It's not like if I don't have a clue what I'm doing as I worked in ICT as a project leader for years, and now I teach ICT in a high school, so I'm used to working with computers, but this broke me (for now at least!) so any suggestions would be welcome!

    Hello MrC_TheTeacher,

Check that the 'Default gateway' parameter (which is the IP number of your router) is set correctly on your machine.

If you have been using a wired connection, but you can connect wireless remove the cable (ethernet cable) and restart the computer before attempting to use the wireless connection.

Verify that the wireless on your computer security key is the same as that currently set on your router.

Check that the wireless security that is on your router is compatible with your computer. The routers are now generally defined on 'WPA2 '.

Have you tried another web browser?

    I hope this will help.

    Kind regards

    Ray333

  • Ethernet or wireless is connected but no Internet access

My laptop OS is Win 7 64 bit. My laptop able to connect to the internet, but it suddenly can't connect to the internet via the Ethernet or wireless. I tried to system restore and it worked fine, but after I stopped, the problem was took place again. I don't know if because of the McAfee antivirus or window updates because it has some errors (to McAfee) and Skype has been updated before I had this problem (no internet access).

McAfee has been updated at the same time as the last batch of updates from Windows 7 and this is the cause of problems of internet connection for most, if not all, users of McAfee.

See the communication from this "criticism" - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

You should make the fix McAfee, if necessary. There are corresponding communications for their enterprise products.

    Hello

Please check in the WLan settings if the TCP/IP protocol settings are set to automatic.

Usually, the WLan router supports a range of IP addresses and assigns an IP address to the laptop of the range of IP addresses.

You can find this setting here:
    ->-Connection network WLan-> properties > network connections (TCP/IP) Internet Protocol-> properties

Also, check if your WLan encryption settings are right!

  • Connected but no internet access (E1200 with laptop Acer Win 7 x 64)

Whenever I come back from a stay in a motel, there are problems to be connected again to the House.  This time, I show that connected to the network wireless 2, but no. Internet access connection.  Yesterday, I figured it out and got things, but today it happened again and I don't get it.  See network properties properly, including appropriate security key.  When I ran Win 7 Network Diagnostics, he returned that I didn't have a valid IP address.  I have reset the router and even unplugged for a minute.  All this time, the ' currently logged on: "network in the sys bar icon showed the Summit he was trying to connect my network name to the internet (downstairs, the network showed as connected, probably by a router).  Another thing I did was to support IP services and disable and stop, then after restart it a few minutes.  Nothing.

But wait!  As I finished typing the last sentence, about an hour after I started the laptop, the first time, I opened center network & sharing once more and suddenly between the name of my computer and the Internet has shown the name of the network, instead of "no internet access."

So, what could be going on here?  (1) why should he take 50 minutes to make the connection?  (2) why do I have problems every time after the use of wireless network from a motel?  Thank you

Update: resolved for now.  I started using the safe mode with networking, which required the implementation of msconfig as F8 does not work.  Which required a repair of the system, and then restore it, and finally I was able to follow the instructions at http://forums.techguy.org/networking/950031-cant-get-valid-ip-address.html.  Solved.
