Sudden appearance of error STOP C000021A after automatic update of Windows

Everyone knows a sudden STOP errors after that update Microsoft has done for his actions in the background? I'm setting up a SL500 for a client who has crashed all of a sudden with a STOP C000021A error. This error number (and the minidump file) point about csrss.exe crashing. The machine is no longer usable in 'normal' mode but it does not start in "safe" mode A review of the microsoft update log file reports the accident happening right after that the update ran. Before I nuke XP and opt for a restore to factory (as well as reinstall/configuration) I would like to know if others have seen this happen recently.

In response to my own question here: I managed to do that work again. It turns out that the automatic update is more or less malware Microsoft's "Office Genuine Advantage". Remember, once again, why people accept this type of behavior of a business entity... No, not only to accept but reward in continuing to do business with them. Something in the water maybe?

Solving audio problems do not detect a problem.

When I go to the control panel > hardware & sound > playback, right-click on the device, I get this message:

"This device is used by another application. Please close all devices... "

However, I restarted the laptop with no other applications running and I still get the above message.

It must be linked to the recent update of W8 for 2 days ago that my audio has always worked fine until here. Without having to reinstall all the software, what I can do, as I have not changed anything other than subscribe to automatic update of Windows? RightClick > uninstall the "update for Microsoft Windows (KB2962407)" (let others, simply uninstall it) it invite you to reboot, and you should have sound after reboot. "

  • Pavilion 15-243cl after automatic update of windows 8.1 I get a black screen after the home page.

recently installed an automatic update of windows 8.1. Now, I get a black screen after the home page. I can load the Task Manager and access the internet. tried to go to the SafeMode to start with f8, but several attempts failed. I updated my graphics driver from AMD today and same black screen. I've also restored sytem to an earlier date using the HP utility with results screen - black even after the home page.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Boot the computer normally and log.

Black screen, old the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.

    Select Task Manager.

Click on file and select the new task.

Type rstrui - also enter a tick in the box for "create this task with administrative privileges" - and click on Ok.

When the system restore interface is loaded, choose a restore point at least 48 hours before the opening of session question (IE before the last batch of Windows updates have been applied) occurred initially and then proceed to the system restore.

original title: can't find the wireless device

    Hello again, Kathy,

More specific instruction, I can give to check settings in the BIOS of your system is to search for a list of devices that installed your laptop. There are only two options for each device, activate them and deactivate them.
Look for something listed as network radio or wireless card and make sure that it is set to enable.
The option that you network adapter found can also control the wireless adapter, but it can control only the plug adapter (Ethernet) network.
A simpler solution, if you have not already tried it it is the system restore in Windows as mentioned by Kiran in a previous answer:
WARNING: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. • After going into sleep mode after automatic update of Windows 7, Pavilion p6210y PC won't sleep

In two weeks, after an update of HP launched automatically, my monitor is not recognized - I tried to restart my PC via the power button, but the action brought everything back without interruption to the place.  Finally I made the necessary update HP closed down and all was back to normal.  Last night I made a full stop and a Windows 7 launched updates (do not turn off your computer, etc..).  This morning when I powered back upward, I got messages on the windows during Setup, etc, then everything returned normally.  I worked for a few hours and left the machine - it entered into mode 'sleep' and now I can't get out of fashion "Eve".  If I power cycle the monitor, I can messages same "cannot detect.  If I try to shut down the PC via the power button, the light is orange/sleep, I hear a humming, then seeing if off, then back to orange/snoring, reverse, etc..  Keeps the bike like this.  I'm afraid that question a couple of weeks may have been a sign of early warning of a problem of h/w, but am not sure.  Can anyone help?  I am not very savvy h/w... and hope that it is something more simple than that.  The PC is 2.5 years.

  • Vista Home Premium Reboot Loop after automatic update of Windows

I have a Compaq Presario F700.  We have recently installed Norton, set, and automatic updates Windows automatic backup options.  I have the system restore points all.  When you try to start the system goes to the Windows Error Recovery window.  If I choose Safe mode or safe mode with networking, the system reboots automatically.  When this happens, it load all the way to my connection profile.  There are two profiles (protected by password) on the computer, but both are administrator accounts.  When I connect each profile, the computer stops and automatically restarts (constantly).  I tried to do a restore of the system from the command prompt and of the recovery tool.  I tried repairing the windows system as well.  I went into the advanced boot options and tried several of them.  Any suggestions?  What is a virus or a windows update problem?

  • USB ports does not work after automatic update in Windows 8.

    Hello

There was an automatic update that occurred a few nights ago on my computer that I never knew until after that I turned on my computer back the next day. The computer starts up, then stopped and restarted about twice more - a total of three reboots in all.
It is really annoying, because my Bluetooth has also stopped working a few days before. So I'm completely paralyzed - I've been using USB keyboard and mouse since the Bluetooth went bankrupt. I can not connect.
The computer starts as usual. The 'numlock' keyboard lights, like the optical light under the mouse; This happens just before the Windows loading screen. However once windows loading screen comes and the "pearls" downstairs begin circulating, the mouse and the keyboard go quiet. I am sure that there is no hardware problems, and the keyboard and mouse work on my Mac very well.
I tried system restore and PC options refresh on the Startup Options page, but unfortunately, my hard drive is unlocked, and system restore won't work; It says that I need to specify which Windows Installation to restore. I also tried my options with the Windows CD.
Do a complete restore of the system is not really something I want or feel that I can do. Being the sidenote, I have school work on this machine in question, and it was already over. Otherwise, I would have not had any problems.
    Anyone had this problem before?

Hi, I just have this problem, but I have noticed that the driver has been disabled, when I activated, it works fine now.

  • Dell Vostro 1510 Audio has stopped working after the update of Windows Vista.

    Nice day!

My computer (vostro 1510) began to revolt recently and I wonder if you could help me with this.

Basically, last week I was talking to my friend on Skype when suddenly my computer restarted due to the update of Windows (I have Windows Vista Business 32-bit). After he turned his back, I realized that there is no audio from the speakers. I tried using headphones but still - no sound.

Immediately, I went to the 'Sounds' menu and checked if my speakers were still 'active '. They have been.
Next thing I decided to do was to reinstall the Realtek audio driver, however, did not help or the other. Since then, I tried to reinstall several times but, unfortunately, everything remained the same.

Then, I thought that maybe something was wrong with my hardware, however, audio spent ALL Dell diagnostics audio tests (so my hardware is very good, yes?). I also tried "System Restore" option and returned to the point before the update... Nothing has changed!

In addition, as far as I know, all the audio settings in Windows (checked in Registry Editor) are OK.

What should I do now? My last hope is to completely reinstall the system, however, I decided to contact you first.

    Thanks in advance!

Solved the problem by reinstalling the operating system.

    Thank you!

  • How stop my computer automatically update to Windows 8. 1

    Original title: update stop

    Separated from this thread.

I do not agree.  last year when I've upgraded free to 8.1 he ruined my laptop.  Fortunately I have 1 week left on my warranty and HP fixed it.  I still have problems with it.  8.1 is trying to download itself, without my permission.  Give me 1 to 4 hour options but not disengage.  I'm trying to figure out how to turn off this option.  All of the suggestions.  HP says they can't rebuild my computer again.

Sorry to hear you have a problem with the software in conflict with your update.  I would recommend when even updated. Windows 8.0 is three years old and has hundreds of known issues.  In addition, the support to the it will soon be the end and your warranty will be voided if you do not update.  You will also lose possibility to have security updates and you will be subject to vulnerabilities, risk for safety, and your information and your privacy will be at risk.  With the help of an archaic system intentionally is very ill-advised.

If you want to continue to avoid the update, I can't in good conscience recommend it.

  • Cursor jumps after automatic update of Windows

I had work Dell for several hours trying to solve my cursor jumping while typing on my less than 1 year Inspiron.  Before everyone wasting my time, my palms are far from my touchpad.

I looked for a long time and it seems to be the result of an auto-update Vista and it the effects of the PC for many suppliers.

My Dell is now unusable.  I can work is no longer home to use it and I need to fix.

Is there a resolution of Microsoft for this bug?  I had to modify this message 4 times during typing because the cursor jumped.

    Hello

Looks like there could be some problems with the drivers.

First of all I suggest you to reduce hardware acceleration and check if the problem occurs.

To reduce the hardware acceleration follow the steps below:
    1. right click on desktop
    2. choose Customize
    3. Select display settings
    4. click on advanced settings
    5. Select the torubleshoot tab, then click on change settings
    6. in the window, you'll have a slider to reduce the cursor and check

Also you can try to uninstall and reinstall the driver of the computer display

You can also try to restore the computer to the previous working state by restoring the system
Steps to complete the restore of the system:
    1. close and save documents that you have open.
    2. click on the Start button to open your Start Menu. The Start button looks like this:
    3. when the Start Menu open click the menu option all programs.
    4. click the Start Menu Accessories group once.
    5. click the System Tools Start Menu Group once.
    6. click once on the icon of the system restore. After you click the icon, if a user account control window opens, click on the button continue.
You will now be on the System Restore screen. From this screen, you can specify the restore point that you want to restore.

    It may be useful

    Hello.

It is possible that it was by force the windows closed so your firefox which makes you forget... Have you tried to crash your Firefox to see if the session is not restored?

To plant your Firefox, simply there open, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC and then, on the process tab in the window that appears, complete the process firefox.exe. That will force Firefox to close at this moment. Do start again. If it works, ok, so it may have been a case isolate. My recommendation is to configure your windows does not install updates without your intervention. Choose something like 'ask me what to do' or something like that.
