Sudden drastic reduction of DISK space free?

Two days ago, I had 21 GB of free space on my drive system hard. Then I subscribed and installed Office 365 Premium (subscription online service). I noticed that I had lost almost 2 GB of space, give me about 19 GB of free space.

So today, I suddenly just 16 GB free.  Later in the day it fell to 13 GB and now I have only 11 GB of free space.

WTF is that all?  It's as if my laptop has suddenly decided start the download of the entire Internet!

I tried all the obvious things, check Temp files for large files, running speaker, no significant improvement.

Any ideas before I stop my Office trial and return to a system image of the beginning of the week.

Thank you

Office of ~ 700 MB, its page file ~ 700 MB (or more)
Perhaps a backup or restore point when you installed office, and perhaps another for a new installation.

You can use pro (free trial) of the Jam software Treesize to see whats hogging space, but these figures are relatively normal, unless you have a very small HD >

  • A question about the use of disk space free on a RAID 10 for ASM?

Is it possible to install/configure 11gDB under the CARS using left over 300 GB of disk space.

I have all my drives configured in RAID 10 and I have 11g THAT RAC installed. I uninstalled RAC and database and then added the required RPM (ASM library and drivers).

Successfully installed the RAC and then proceeds to installation and configuration of 11gDB for ASM using the available disk space.

  • Free disk space minimum on LUN

I would like to know what is the best practice for disk space free minimum to recommend on a LUN connected to an ESX host?

    Your response will be appreciated.

So, there are a few things to take into consideration.  If you have the VM vswap file stored with the virtual machines, you need to allocate for those.  He vswap is created when a virtual machine is running and the size of the memory of the virtual machine is created.  So if you have 16 vm on a data store and an average of 2 GB of memory per virtual machine, which is 32 GB, you need to take account of.  You should after that accounting for the additional 20% allocated vswap for snapshots and growth vmdk.

Here are some suggestions I made on another thread:

I always recommend not more than 16 VMs per LUN that is a safe number and seems to be lots of land to whatever your storage configuration. Try and keep it small your LUN approximately 500GB so you're not tempted to go beyond the limit of 16 vm. You can go with greater LUN if you have virtual machine need more than just vmdk to pay attention.

Another thing you can do is to store files of vswap on one data store other than your actual vm data. It take the vm memory on the equations of storage on your partitions of data and make it easier to manage the space. You can assign a unit logic by server, LUNS per cluster, number or use internal storage by the server for files of vswap. Keep in mind that this affects the performance of vmotion and can cause vmotion migrations to take only a few seconds more or more depending on the amount of memory assigned to a virtual machine.

If you use a dedicated LUN/s to the vSwap make the LUN 25% greater than the amount of memory to account during the subscription for the memory.

  • Hard disk space is down on its own without adding files or programs.

original title: reduction of disk space

My hard disk space is down without my add files or programs. I deleted the files, and after a while, I get the message that I'm out of space disk yet. I ran the windows disk cleaner, but the question is not what I need more disk space - is my drive space decreases continuously. For example, yesterday I got 4.89 GB free, today, I 4.80 - without adding anything to my computer. Any suggestion for what can happen and how to fix this?

Another minor issue I have is that sometimes windows does not start correctly and I can't open any programs after implementation - in this case, I just restart and it works usually then. Don't know which is related to the question of good memory, but maybe it is?

I am running Windows Vista Business SP2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X 61.

    Thank you!

Sounds like you have * something * create journals. Try a number of things, first off this program to see if you can find out where your space is being taken.

Once you find out where to try and understand what is the cause. You can consider that you have some kind of virus/malware on your computer. Try to run Malwarebytes in safe mode and see what he says.

  • Upgrade to 10.5 fails - not enough disk space in common Partition - db_hist using more space

    Hi all

Tried upgrading our 9.0 (2) UCCX SU1 HA deployment 10.5 (1) last night and it failed with the following message.

There is not enough disk space in the common partition to perform the upgrade. Please use the platform command line Interface or the tracking tool in time real (RTMT) of free space on the common partition.

RTMT reported common disk space used as 94%. RTMT using we put the LogPartitionHighWaterMarkExceeded at 55% and waited for the disk space free. No luck.

A bit more investigation and it turns out there is a database called db_hist_dbs in the common partition which is 33 GB in size. This is the command and returned the output that we used to find this point.

    See the common diskusage

    8.0 K/common/Ministry of health

    33G/common/var-uccx/CBD/db_hist_dbs

    1.6 G/common/var-uccx/CBD/temp_uccx_dbs

    37G/common/var-uccx

    /Common/ontape_backup.gz 16 M

    8.0 K/common/cancel_upgrade

Using this command - show uccx dbserver disc - we can see that the db_hist database file is actually 80% free! Output of the command here-

SNO. TOTAL SIZE (MB) OF NAME OF DATABASE SIZE (MB) USED THE FREE SIZE (MB) TO ONE HUNDRED FREE

    ---- ------------------ --------------- -------------- -------------- ------------

    4 db_hist 34508,6 6836.9 27671,7 80%

Anyone have any ideas on how to reduce the file size of the database in question? Is it still possible? Or what are our options to work around this problem and perform the upgrade.

    Thanks in advance

    Jeff

  • All of a sudden lots of disk space! Is this a virus?

I was using my computer today and all of a sudden a pop up came in the system tray informing of my hard drive is full! I was told one after the other, starting with my first then my other two additional discs.

I have 3 hard drives installed in my computer - A, B and C (primary) readers, I know a disc becomes full and I had to replace wit ha big disk, but B and C should have plenty of space on the computer's display, they don't seem to be complete, but the calculation of the consumed real space, a player is 880 GB of 931 , Player B is C 633 Go to drive and 1.37 TB of 1.81 to 1.31.  Windows claims all drives are full, even brought it to the top of the disk cleanup window. There are more than a terabyte of lack of free space!
While I checked around that Windows, I noticed several times the amount of free space in readers at the lowest of the changes still about 100 GB over the use of the real disk and at the top I claimed that it is full!
I have Norton Internet Security 2013 and I ran a full scan of the system, he pointed out that no security problems have been found.
Can someone help me with this please?
I am running windows Vista Edition Home Premium x 64

    Hello

This free program allows you to see what is taking place.

    http://www.Jam-software.com/treesize_free/

By default system restore also includes 15% of the capacity of your hard drive.

You can change the size of it:

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html

You can clean your hard drive using these two methods.

    "Delete files using Disk Cleanup"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

    Using the free CCleaner program:

    http://www.Piriform.com/CCleaner

In NO case use the registry cleaning Option in CCleaner

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

And Norton Backup can do strange things with filling of hard drive space.

    See you soon.

  • 16 GB of free disk space required to upgrade?

I have a 80 GB drive partitioned and C: has 3 GB of spare, I would like to upgrade to windows 7, but it says I need 16 GB of free disk, Vista is already using 22 gb - if I upgrade to I win 6 GB or is windows really 38 GB because none of my partitions are that big. (E: a 22 GB of spare I put windows on both Partitions?).

I tried to resize the two partitions by using disk management C: offers the possibility of reduction of the score but the expand option is grayed out.

Windows 7 32-bit requires 16 GB of free disk space
Windows 7 64-bit requires 20 GB of free space on the disk

In fact, Windows 7 does not use that amount of space, but for the actual installation, Windows 7 will store some files temporarily to help with the installation. Disk space actually used by Windows varies from 6 to 10 GB, depending on the edition you are installing.

You can try to free disk space by running disk clean up and remove old system restore points. You can also try clearing your temporary files directory:

    Click Start, type: folder
Press ENTER, delete the contents of this folder.

Additional details and instructions for the release of disk space:
How to speed up your Windows 7 system:
    http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog/CNS! E8E5CC039D51E3DB! 40406.entry

You should try to uninstall applications you do not use and move files you use for example videos, photos on an external hard drive, you could do temporarily, then restore them after the installation of Windows 7.

Hi Kirin, for more information on the other category in the view of storage , see this support article.

There seems to be a bug in the about this Mac Look storage tab > system report > storage. It's probably different.

Omni DiskSweeper can show you the exact size and location of all your files. It will be the inventory of your disc from files that occupy more space. It can also give you a fairer read disk space than the Finder or storage tab of the about this Mac. If you want you can even delete files from OmniDisk Sweeper. But beware, some items may be important for your system.

Reading your question a little more in detail, I doubt if you are using the Win32 GetDiskFreeSpace API function (including my previous post is the solution) of the function GetDiskSpace from the Toolbox of the programmer.

With respect to the other, it works even with capacity greater than 2 GB disks, but you must use the appropriate formatting code to display the returned value. I updated my example to display the total of free space in the debug output window and added a comparison with the value of 3 GB using UInt64TypeCompareUInt box to tools programming interface.

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
.NET framework is a software framework that is necessary for the proper functioning of the computer. Many programs rely, to not uninstall them.
About Adobe Acrobat Reader, it is a type of file opening/handling application portable document format (PDF). If you feel you don't need a reader/visualization of PDF software, you can uninstall it.
On the subject of HP Customer Participation Program 9.0, you can contact HP support for help.
In addition, you can try the following to free disk space:
Go to computer-> select C:\ drive-> click on-> click Properties. On the general tab, click Disk Cleanup. Open Disk Cleanup dialog box, click Ok. This will delete all the unwanted files. Do this for each hard drive partition. In addition, click Windows key + r Run dialog opens. type %temp% , and then press Ok. In the folder of files temporary opening, select all items, click shift + delete. Click Ok to confirm. Let exceptions, i.e. files/folders will be not erasable.
