Sudden drop in the battery life

Hello, I am a new owner of a Macbook Air.

For the last couple months everything works fine and the battery on my laptop lasted for at least 10 hours, but last week, I noticed that the battery life is not as long. Now when the battery is fully charged, I have only 4 hours of power.

I don't know why the change suddenly, since I did anything differently. Maybe I am doing something wrong without realizing. In any case, I would like to ask for some tips or ideas to help me solve this problem (if it can be resolved).

I really appreciate your help!

  • sudden loss of the battery?

I'm a X201T, two year old battery 8 cells. I had certainly noticed a deterioration of the battery life, up to about 2.5 hours of active work. But suddenly the battery won't charge at all and I am informed the State of the battery is low, time to replace. Interestingly, this occurred after that the machine has passed a couple of weeks off, not used at all.

Should it? I had assumed a gradual decline to zero, not a sudden death of the absolute. Would it be a problem in the Power Manager software, or something like?

Thanks for any help you can give me. Greg.

It is not unusual for one or more cells in a Li-ion battery to fail after a couple of years. The result is that the battery is completely dead or suddenly drops a large amount of reported load, for example going from 80% to 40% in a few seconds. This can happen if you leave the battery at 0% for an extended period of time.

One thing to try: go in Power Manager battery information tab and click on "Battery maintenance" to try to "Recondition" the battery. If this does not work the first time you can try once or twice more. No guarantee that it will work.

  • The battery life with watchOS3

I've updated to watchOS3 yesterday. Tonight, my watch came into low power and then mode on the way, after my usual 15 hours a day.  Watch BONES 1 & 2, I've always had throughout the day.  Something must be disabled. But what.  No apps, etc. have been changed by my point of view.

    Hello 2008Convert,

I understand that after updated your Apple Watch watch OS 3 the battery life seems to have dropped considerably. Fortunately, we have a page that details a number of useful tips such as settings that can affect the life of the battery and battery usage information.

  • BlackBerry Q10 Q10 - the battery life low, overheating, restarting the device.

    Hello

My camera has been upgraded to 10.3 towards the end of February, I think.  Battery life was low at first, but eventually improved to an acceptable level.  (Acceptable = able to make it through the day without charge.)

In recent days, the battery life was horrible.  At 01:00 this morning, it was fully charged and from 05:00, it's about 40%, without any use at all.  All idling with the screen off.

I read some suggestions in the forums.  I deleted all my email accounts, restarted the unit, then added them.  I also confirmed that there are no other applications running that might be draining the battery.

I bought the unit directly from BlackBerry back to November, so I have no support available carrier.

So sometimes after typing a message, I hung up and he begins to restart.  I'm quite sure physical were issued with the phone - it is never dropped or roughed up somehow.

When I look at my use of the battery, I see the remaining 38%.  System of 26%, and PIM services is 8.6%.

Someone more detailed suggestions on how to fix this?

    Bryan.

Hello and welcome to the BlackBerry support fourms!

Try to veiw of the last 12 hours of the CPU usage. The heat is probably high CPU load.

I also recommend that you recharge the device through BlackBerry link software. Good luck and keep me posted.

  • Sudden drop in the speed of the CPU

I have a 3 years old Dell Precision M6600 with Windows 7. In recent months I have suffered sudden drops in the speed of the CPU. I executes calculations, which do not have any IO or graphics, simple calculations on large amounts of data (say, 8 GB), who are all and always in RAM, no paging is never involved.

I'm timing operations. Normally, an operation will take about 5 seconds. After a few hours, I noticed that the same operation on takes it even data 25 s check Task Manager shows whenever there is no other processes taking CPU, and this process takes 100% of CPU, occupying all of the 8 wires completely. I suspect overheating somewhere, so I bought a carpet of ventilation, and the computer is sitting on it during execution. Does not help. If I turn off the laptop for a few minutes, everything returns to normal - for a while.

I'm not running on battery, still on the charger.

Could you recommend a utility that can show a detailed diagnosis of the computer while it is running, including the temperature of components, etc.

    Thank you.

CPUid utility will give you the temperature at various locations inside:

  • The battery life on a stack of old vs new

Hi I just bought the HP Pavilion g4 (1100au) and run the battery check utility.

I noticed that the battery is already 6 months old. How is this affecting the life and capacity of the battery? And the warranty will cover the fact that the battery is already "old" purchase? (For example if it is less than expected performance for a 1 years exactly one year after the purchase, the warranty replaces the battery?)

Although there is no mention on the website of HP, some online stores, sales of HP Pavilion claim a battery life of just over 4 hours (not using the dvd player or playing graphic intensive games). Is this correct? What should I expect in a year, 2 years and 3 years?

    Thank you very much

Any site on the battery life and usage will tell you that it depends on the number of charge cycles and the level of support that keep you the battery in.

If you keep a battery to 100% it will dramatically decrease the life.  That's why a new battery will be delivered with a load of say 50% or 40%.

Get 1000 cycles or even 500 cycles a Li-ion battery is overly optimistic at best.  Old batteries would degrade over time so that the AMM would go to 0. They would be too hot for the charge cycles and have minor shorts that would be ignored by the jury of the battery.  A short circuit in a battery is a major problem.

Today, the batteries are chips in them, a diode to control temp, a lot of security.  If the smart chip detects the slightest defect in a battery, it will just stop it.  That's why you see seemingly good batteries just suddenly stop working.  Once the Mah side gets down to 50%, a battery could just stop at any time.

Spare batteries are not these safety devices integrated into them.  Most of them don't even have a diode temp. They show only a static temp all the time.  Then, they could short-circuit and ignite a fire, they could overheat and get out your laptop system load or worse.  I've seen worse, it isn't pretty.

I do not do anything to increase the life expectancy of my batteries, I just keep 100% of the fees and use them.  I'm lucky if I get two years for use on a battery.  I usually get a year and a half out of them. After that about 100 charge cycles, they start to degrade the mAh rating.  If they go to 50% without stopping, I just replace them.

Batteries are not yet considered to be a component, they are considered a disposable commodity.

  • Satellite C650D-006 - how to maximize the battery life?

I have just bought a laptop C650D/006 and I was wondering what is the best way to maximize the battery life. In other words, if I use it with the power cable plugged AC will be keeping the battery installed the result of all the time a decrease in the battery or it does not make a difference?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

You can maximize the life of the dough if you always remove the battery if you n t necessary e.g. in the House where you can work with AC/DC adapter.
In addition, the battery must always be fully charged and be invoiced if it s empty.

Moreover, I found a very interesting article for you in the section fair questions:

  • Satellite Pro C650 - maximize the battery life

    Hello

I want to maximize the battery from Toshiba. I read the user manual. Following the instructions of the PC hybernates when the battery is still 3%. I tried to change the critical-battery level, but it does not allow below 3%.

What should I do to completely discharge the battery?

    Thanks in advance.

    m.

    Hey,.

Why you want to change the level of less than 3% battery? I think that s useless because need new lithium ion battery doesn t 0% of discharge in order to maximize the battery life.

Just read this interesting article on the useful battery tips:

  • What is the battery life of a Satellite L30-113?

    Hello
I think to buy this laptop for £299.99 from Play.com
However there is no mention of the battery life, and I really need to know what it is if I buy this laptop.

I'll use for net surfing, msn and DVD :-)
    Thank you.

    Hello

I know the machine, but main autonomy depends on the battery capacity. As I know come in two sizes: 2000 mAh and 4000 mAh.

If you use it just for surfing and etc, you will have a battery life of 2 hours with the 4000 mAh.
But be careful: If you have several applications that run in the background or opened, your battery life might be shorter. (more charges system means shorter battery life)

And finally and especially your battery life also depends on your powersaver settings, so you will need to find the configuration that fits for you (performance and battery life)

    Hope I could help you

    Welcome them

  • The battery life on Satellite P100

I have a Satellite P100-160. The battery life is only 2 hours. I thought it would be more. Any other s battery to give them the same life, or more?

Sorry, but I don't really understand you. 2 hours for this great book for me is fantastic battery life. As you know battery life depends on notebook use.

If you wish to have more long battery life reduce power consumption in standby power management (display brightness, CPU activity) or simply use already created profiles of power.

What is the battery life expected to a new stack in a Mac Book Pro?  I am running OS X El Capitan10.11.3

I just had my battery replaced, and today, I looked at that and I got 7 1/2 hours on a charge.  This doesn't seem much.

Apple announced 8-9 hours on the 15 "MacBook Pro 2010. This is an extremely optimistic number in light, ideal operating conditions.

    Your 7.5 hours is fine.

  • Battery charging - effect on the battery life

So, the battery life is not initially as low as feared but rarely fits a model of exactly 24/48 hours, so I often need to recharge the battery.

Formerly, it was bad for the batteries, but my question is - are there - there no damage to the battery caused by the overflow of the load for 30-60 minutes when it's convenient?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dave

The battery won't suffer regular refills made wrong, regardless of the level of load when the load begins. Apple Watch uses Lithium-ion batteries, which can be charged whenever you want. There is no need to let the battery discharge completely before recharging.

You can find more convenient to charge your watch from one day to the next. In normal operation, Apple Watch cannot be overloaded, and the battery won't suffer harm of regular refills done every day. Load stops automatically when the watch is fully charged (and again as / when required due to the use of the current battery). Follow Apple's safety and handling instructions, and note also that:

-It is not possible to turn the watch off the coast while it is on the charger and connected to the power supply - what is normal.

-It is also normal to watch, adapter sector and charger become hot when it is connected to the power.

  • The battery life of the IPad Pro

I've had my IPad Pro nearly a month now, I am very disappointed with the battery life.  Can I get a battery completely charged at 10:00 and 15:00

She is drained down to 19%.  I only surf the web and play some games. I disabled all the elements that would drain the battery, even possibility dimmed the screen.

is this normal, it is far from the 10 hours, I also cam fill a small external change to the rear of the unit. What should I do? I had apple do a diagnostic check and they said there was no problem detected.

Hard to say... I had the iPad over the years and the Pro is the best yet.  I use mine extensively, mostly to surf the Internet and check news sites, not be interested in the games. I also use it for photo editing. A typical use days could be between 4 to 6 hours and when not in use, it is in standby.  I never feed power off.

I also have mine recharge every night, regardless of the status of the battery.  After a full days use, the status of the battery down from 100 percent to about 45 percent.  When the rear of the load box gets hot, when you use it, it's cool.

It was an Apple store or a retailer that took place the diagnostic practice?

I would say that your battery life isn't typical.
