Suggestions of Spotlight/Safari limited region?

Hello

I am based in Prague, Czech Republic, and recently I was in Australia, where I got a notification on my Macbook Pro and an iPhone 5 that Safari and Spotlight now support quick suggestions and etc (in iOS new updates, locations nearest you, navigation etc.; in Safari Web sites (, the auto-suggéré and etc..).

It worked perfectly, but now I have come back to the Czech Republic and characteristics disappeared again. Safari suggests no more these convenient Web site suggestions, iOS spotlight doesn't show any information outside the proposed applications. Nothing at all.

I have trouble believing this would be due to restrictions in the region - example website suggestions? What's wrong in having them available everywhere?

Anyone could shed some light on this?

Thank you.

Hi Ollie, there.

Welcome to Apple Support communities.

From what I understand, you recently visited the Australia and noticed that some features on your devices are not available more since his return to the Czech Republic. Apparently not that Spotlight Suggestion functions you describe are not available in Czech Republic. You can find more information on the availability of features in iOS and OS X here:

Take care.

  • 10.0 Safari cannot connect to most of the servers

With the help of El Capitan 10.11.6 on a MacBook Pro 2011 which has worked fine until... I did the update of Safari 10 today (with iTunes and Camera RAW updates, iTunes is very well and I do not use RAW images). Now Safari does not load most of the sites. For example: Google and work, but apple.com and ask.com discussions.apple.com do not work. "Safari can't connect to the server. Don't use not VPN or OpenDNS, no change in Network preferences.

    Have you tried:

    Restarted Safari

Connected to the Admin ACCT. (Safari works fine it; loading all pages, so this problem is specific to my normal user account)

Caches allowed via the menu Developer

    Deleted cookies

    Restarted Mac.

Turned off WiFi and reset modem and router

Added the new network location & remove the old (by suggestion of Apple forum)

Turn off all extensions of Safari (Pinboard, LastPass, JSblocker)

Ran Malwarebytes using current data files (found nothing)

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

Safari - no support for third-party modules can cause Safari to suddenly quit, or have performance problems

Safari does not load a page or webpage elements are missing

Safari / other browsers - Web site does not

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • How to use the functionality of search in Spotlight

I was check preferences, Spotlight and noted down at the bottom of the window there is a box marked 'allow Spotlight Suggestions in Spotlight and look it up".

I was curious about the 'Look up' and how it worked but after Googling it I couldn't find any reference to it or how to use it.

I wonder if someone could enlighten me on what it does and how I use it.

    Thank you

'Search' is not a feature turned on. If you have this box checked, then it is already working.

The difference between the projectors now and Spotlight before "Look up", it's that Spotlight will now search the Internet for items that you put in the Spotlight. Previously, Spotlight search only files of your computer. Now (with the upward gaze) research in Spotlight is similar to an iOS devices. If she can not find what you are looking for on your computer, it will search the internet. For example, if I type in warriors, it returns this information:

    Hope that makes sense

EDIT: Note that research first of all my events (since I'm a Kings fan, it shows their game against the warriors), and he then proceeds to the internet looking for other options, as well as iTunes for the film the warriors.

  • Safari crashes when entering the URL

    Ouch... I can't use safari.

When I press the "search" bar to search or enter the URL, the application crashes and takes back me to the home screen.

I've done several hard reboots, I went to settings > Safari and deleted all the data from my iPhone iCloud.

When I click on links, safari is open and working fine, but to actually enter a URL that I use Chrome (ouch).

How can I resolve this short of restoring the iPhone everything from a backup?

    Thank you

  • Safari now closes when you click on the address bar

Hey all, recently I went to a Web site with a pop - up I accidentally clicked while trying to scroll down around him. After clicking on the pop-up a new tab tried opening that I immediately closed, as well as the 1st original tab open. I have then double click the home button on the iPhone and crept up to close the application currently open safari. But then when I restarted safari, whenever I click on the URL address bar to type something, it immediately closes on my safari. Now, I'm not completely clueless when it comes to try to empty the pop ups, I have delt with the "FBI warning all ' on my and several other phones... so I tried the history of obvious and this compensation that not, but still my safari stops if I touch the address at the top of the page bar.

    So far I have tried:

    1. Double-click on the House, by sweeping up app close
    2. "Restart iPhone' holding the home button and top 10 seconds
    3. ' 'Parameters '; Safari. " 'Clear the history data and the Web site '.
    4. DIssbling JavaScript in 'advanced configuration' for safari
    5. Entered into airplane mode / click on the address bar - still farm safari down
    6. Loading of several empty tabs and clicking on their URL

And just to be more specific, if I copy and paste a link I am able to visit a Web site... but again if I go to a website and immediately click on the address bar it will close and restart safari.

OR if I load up Safari in 'Private' I'm finally able to click on the address bar and type websites like Google.com and it works perfectly fine, but if I get out of private and try to type in Google.com, it closes...

    Any ideas?

Go to settings - Safari - clear the history and data from the Web site.

If that doesn't work, reset your device. This will not erase your data stored on the phone.

    • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
    • Press and hold the Home button
    • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings
