Super slow computer after uninstalling programs...

I recently had strange problems with my system. They include:

Before, when I left my computer for a bit, it goes into sleep mode and displays my screensaver. Now, instead of showing my screensaver, it only shows my wallpaper. Nothing else. No internet browsing software, no icons. My paper just painted. There are a few times when my screensaver appears but only about 1 in 5 times.
I put my computer to ask me a password when I wake. But the password dialog box is not displayed when I move the mouse. I have to enter Ctrl + Alt + Del to force the dialog box to appear. I'm positive, I put my computer so that I don't have to use Ctrl + Alt + Delete, but it does not work. And sometimes the command does not work yet. I can stay there and keep only typing for an hour and nothing would happen.
Programs to take a long time to start. Microsoft Word used to load in 1 or 2 minutes, but now I have to wait 5-10 minutes.
Web pages take a long time to load. It should take only a few seconds at most, but now it takes a few minutes for a page to load. I don't have the best Internet service but I am sure that shouldn't be that slow. 3 weeks, everything worked fine. Last week, all these problems began to occur. I changed my ISP 5 months ago and the Internet was going well so far. I tried to clear my cache, delete my history and cookies, but nothing works.
I use Google Chrome as my browser, and when I try to search something in the Omnibox (aka the address bar), it takes forever to load. I have to go to www.google.com and type my search in there. My default search provider is Google, but I don't understand why the site works very well but is not the address bar.
On Facebook, I can't comment on, such as updates, see all the comments on a post, or see my notifications. When I click the button I like or click on "View all comments" on a post, it does nothing. I click a few times more, but it does nothing. The same thing happens when I click on my Notifications at the top. Nothing happens. And when I click on the chat on the bottom bar to see who is online. No effect. Is this something to do with Java? I have the latest version of Java, Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Flash.

These problems started occurring just after that I uninstalled a few programs on my computer. They were in a few games and The Weather Channel Desktop App. If anything, uninstall programs should make my computer faster; no more slow. I have AVG antivirus installed and I've scanned my computer already and I have not all infections.

I use Windows XP and have the latest Service Pack installed (it was 4 SP...?). My computer is somewhat old (I got it in 2005). I have a HDD AMD with maximum capacity of 40 GB. 1.70 GHz Intel Celron processor and about 220 MB of RAM then that I write this. It is quite old compared to new laptops nowadays (they have 400 GB Intel hard drives with 4 GB of RAM).

You can always reinstall AVG later if yo have to do (I don't would be not so constrained).

If you are worried about an infection, disconnect the Internet after uninstalling AVG, then see how to open your Word documents and other features with AVG off the image.

If you are worried about not having protection AV install Microsoft Security Essentials . MSE completed with MBAM and SAS is pretty good protection and has low overhead.

When the painting opens, press CTRL + V to paste the Clipboard, save the new file in paint on your desktop or somewhere that you remember. JPG files take up less disk space than BMP files and are just as readable.

Make screen captures as much as you want. Practice makes perfect. Make sure that your screenshot does not contain personal information. Practice the visualization of your images before you send them to make sure they agree.

Some sites will allow you to attach a file directly on your post, but not the MS Answers forums. If the site has a sort of piece attachment/upload function it is usually easier just to use it.

If there is no such function in your forum to download files, then use a third-party free hosting site WWW image.

Create a free account on some free photo hosting website. You can always delete your account later if you wish. Here are some free image hosting sites:

With your free account, download your screenshot (s) (JPG or BMP files) on the site and it is up to you to a URL (Direct link) for your new images that you can paste the link directly in the post message, e-mail, etc.

I've updated one of my PCs running Vista x 64 updates of security two days ago.
Now that the systems takes more than 15 minutes just to start at the opening screen of session and as much time again to get on the desktop.
The mouse cursor is always fast as usual, but everything else including the caret blink time is super slow.

This is a really clean system which is used strictly for dedicated 3D work, so he has nothing but Max, EU3 and WinZip on it. It is not used for Internet access.
No hardware or software changes attempted in several months, other than updates Windows System.
Intel C2Q Q6600, 8 GB 1066 RAM, NVidia 8800GTS 512, WD 500 GB HD, ASUS P5K mobo.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem with updates, especially as it's really painful trying to solve the problems since that it literally takes hours to try whatever it locate either changes the problem. I'll do a wipe and reinstall if I have to spend a lot more time with reboots, it will be faster.

Maybe it will help someone else and save a few hours of work waiting for the slow start to fix things.

For those who are interested: the OS is Vista Home Premium x 64. Material has been listed above. It is a high-end with hardware system high range, coolers, cases, power supply, etc.
This is not a system of job full time, it is used only for specific work I usually do a few hours on one or two days a week.

I timed it really starts the Welcome screen and it is more than 45 minutes. lol :-D
I pulled off the side of the case and noticed that the HDD was just chewing on something.
Start in safe mode was also just as painfully slow as standard start (argh).

Regarding the updates of Windows, I have this system set to inform only, so I only install updates at the end of all the days that I work on the computer. Where my assumption that it's a matter of update that caused the problem, since nothing ever changes, on this subject - files are still saved out to a network server.

However, once I could get on the computer, I noticed that I had also installed Windows Live Mail top the same day I did the updates of Windows (two days ago). WLM has been installed just to get a screenshot of it for my blog, it was never really used for Internet e-mail, it should be uninstalled some time on one of the next system bootups.

Then... Installation apparently a combination of WLM or the latest Windows updates has completely borked something on the computer starts.
I got my DVD of Vista, it started, ran the Startup Repair. Now, the system works very well. WLM has been uninstalled in the case where it has been part or all of the guilty.
As with a PC, it could be something to do with the specific hardware and software configuration, the order of WLM and updates installed, specific updates installed, etc..

I would recommend that anyone with a similar configuration be sure to install WLM or updates in the estate where they fall in the same question.
Just don't panic if you have problems, try a DVD Vista Startup Repair. :-)

Two problems have been caused with my HP Split 2 x since I bought it 2 months ago:

(1) the touchpad works sometimes for a few seconds, while the touchscreen still work OK.

(2) the computer becomes slow after a while of use (which varies from a few minutes to a few hours usually). The Task Manager shows 98%-99% of memory, most of which use (3.6 GB / 4 GB) are not paged memory.

Microsoft has just released an update for Synaptics Driver, not thanks to HP which has not found a way to provide the possible Synaptics driver as an OEM update.

Update Windows Update to Sypatics HD TouchPad two days ago, but I would not be allowed to install as it kept then mainly in giving the 800F0100 error Code. After some research on the Internet I could find that an installation manual after the WU has downloaded the driver would be possible.

So I went to the Device Manager > mice and other pointing devices > TouchPad Synaptics HID > properties > driver > Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software and shown the finger/windows/C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution/Download and everything worked like a charm = D

I have no more memory leak and now after SEVEN MONTHS I finally can use gestures that it was supposed to.

But I still annoyed gel problems which in my case is a dysfunction between the screen and the dock.

Just that you wanted the guys at Microsoft to know is the solution, not the HP that would have had if they have signed and put the driver since November last at our disposal. Blame it on you, HP.
