Superdrive Apple USB drive problem

Situation: The internal superdrive on my MacBook 2009 stop working while I bought a new USB Superdrive.  And only after I plugged it in, has indicated that it is incompatible with my computer.  After reviewing the advice here, I said that most of the optical USB drives on the market are compatible with my computer, so it's something to look at.  However, this year I plan to get a new MacBook, date at which I will need an optical drive that works with newer computers.

Question: Will be one of the current after the market of optical drives work with the new MacBook? Or should I just keep the Apple Superdrive that I currently have to use?

Thank you in advance.

No first hand experience, but I think that number of external optical drives from third party works pretty much any computer that has USB (and much less expensive than the Superdrive).  The only glitch, I know is that application Apple DVD Player can bother but there is a harmless hack that gets around that, or you can use an alternative player such as VLC (I never use DVD player).

You can browse the web site OWC/mac - ventes.com.  If you know exactly what you want and need no support there are many places to watch it's maybe a dollar or two cheaper but every time that I'm not sure I call them and ask and am happy to spend the little extra to support the customer.

  • No Apple USB driver in Windows 10 Device Manager

Is there a way to retrieve the Apple USB driver in Windows 10 Device Manager.  I downloaded the iTunes 12.3.3 yesterday and now he is gone.

    I tried

    • plug into each of my Apple devices (iPod, iPad, iPhone, iPhone 4S 6)
    • restarting my computer
    • disabled my virus protection software
    • synchronization with different strings (some Apple, others not)
    • my devices restart and try again
    • Uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling
    • Uninstalling iTunes and goes back to and older version
    • make a Windows system to a restore point when I could synchronize my devices

My main problem is that I need to sync my devices and iTunes does not detect them without the driver.  Windows can detect my devices and they appear in the file Explorer.  I am also able to get pictures and videos I've taken off the power unit and on my computer with no problems.

Anything else I can try?  I'm out of ideas.  Thank you!

If it is not found, return it for another. You can also reset the SMC and the PRAM but I don't think that you need on a new device.

  • Re: Play Peek-a-Boo with USB - driver problem

    Hello

So far, I had no problem with my laptop and windows 7 (32 bit), but there was a problem from the start. my system was not able to detect all the drivers, for the moment, I got 2 unidentified "base system devices.

At least one of them has got to do something with my USBs, when I connect a plug & play carpet dance for my laptop, it plays basically peek-a-boo with me - recognize something was plugged, but without realizing realize that he is.

One of my friends even phone sex and BONE, he had no such problems.

When I try to install the utility driver Support page, suitable for my 'edition', it will stop saying that I have not the common module installed on my system.

Any help possible? As said, some drivers are missing, which are supposed to make my USB hubs identify devices again, but I know who exactly do not exist, or where to get them.

Thank you for every little trick

  • __Vista and external hard USB drive problems. __

I have an old USB Maxtor attached an external hard drive with vista home premium.  It was working fine until I left for two weeks.  Now, vista starts up with this drive connected.  When I unplug the USB connection, it starts OK.    Second, but related.  I use this drive to Flash the pictures on the box of the gadget.  Works OK for a bit, then the photos appear more.  I redefine the source folder to make it work again.  The two problems are related to the external hard drive.  Is it vista, usb or drive?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Vinnie,

I suggest you try the following steps to refine the question:

Step 1: connect the USB device to a different USB port and test it.

When a device is not functioning, Device Manager also typically displays an error message with an error code that comes with it. First, search for errors in the Manager of devices to do this, follow the steps below:

Step 2: Disconnect the USB device, then on startup, check for the error code in Device Manager

    1. open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. in Device Manager, look for the USB device, and then double-click the device name.
    3. under the gaze of general tab for the status of the device for any error code indicated.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl: HP Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl - USB driver problems

    Hi all

I tried to find a way to solve the problem I encounter without success, so I decided to join this community and hope that someone else came across something similar and has been able to solve.

I have two identical HP notebook computers (HP Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl) and both of these computers have exactly the same problem. After you have reinstalled Windows 7 for some reason any USB ports on the left side of the laptop are not recognized by Windows, leaving me with only 2 USB ports available. I downloaded and installed all the official drivers from the HP site but the problem remains still. Device Manager will not find the drivers and it drives me crazy because all the USB ports on both computers worked very well so far. What am I supposed to do?

Any help or suggestion is highly appreciated.

    You are the very welcome.

Download and install both of these drivers and restart.

  • No device USB Driver problem

Whenever I plug a USB device on my HP Compaq DX2450 running XP P3 I can never get it to be recognized. I am currently using a portable USB 6 - LED Night Vision PC computer Web camera. Hi stewp00,

What is the brand and model of your webcam?

Can you provide a link to the manufacturers Web site?

I suggest trying the webcam on another computer to test the material for the failure.

If the computer doesn't recognize that a device has been plugged in, does not have the USB ports, the USB cable connected to the device does not meet or does not respect the camera.

  • My Macbook Pro does not recognize the Apple USB superdrive

My Macbook pro doesn't recognize the superdrive.

I don't know exactly what is the cause, but everything was fine before certain events.

    Upgrade to El Capitan

    Upgrading to Parallels desktop 11

    Upgrade to Windows 10

As I said before these changes everything was fine. Another problem I face is a lot of cuts of my wifi connection and I have to disconnect and reconnect the wifi.

If anyone has any idea I would be grateful to have the explanation

    Thank you very much

The Superdrive Apple USB attracts more than the maximum power allowed. It can be awkward on some MacBook Pro. But the question probably for your configuration is Windows has reserved the player himself, and the side Mac cannot use until Windows releases, or you do a restart.

  • SuperDrive Apple MacBook with USB

I have a new MacBook (so without a USB port). When I connect a USB SuperDrive Apple through an external USB port, I get the message "USB Device needs power. Connect 'Apple USB SuperDrive' to a USB port on the Mac "." Is there a solution?

    Thank you

You may be able to use one of the cards USB - C port supported that has a standard USB port and

also a power at the port, so you can use the MacBook power adapter at the same time. Note the details

What port provides data on the cards among other details here:

    • Using the USB - C port and adapters on your MacBook (retina, 12 inch, early 2015) - Apple Support

The SuperDrive Apple USB should work fine with the 12-inch retina MacBook 2015 model; If it isn't

then consider a visit an Apple store, and if necessary, make an appointment in advance for Genius.

    • Mac computers that can use a USB SuperDrive Apple - Apple Support

If your SuperDrive Apple USB is an older model 2010, those who were intended to be used with MacBook

Models AIR and not the later retina of 2015 MacBook 12-inch model. The vintage produced no importance.

    Good luck & happy computing!
