Support of USB 3.0?

I tried to mount a USB3.0 drive in a virtual machine on my MBP (mid-2012, OSX 10.8.3) but I get the following error before it happens even to the virtual machine:

The "XXX" device failed to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be to connect this device to the available host controller. This could result in undefined behavior for this device.

This bug exists in VMware Fusion 5.0.3 and severe a pain. I've searched the forums and notes version, and the closer, I could find was of: VMware Fusion 5 and VMware Fusion 5 Professional Release Notes

Unable to start a VM from USB 3.0 on MacBook Air 5.1 devices
You may not be able to start a virtual machine from the devices USB 3.0 on MacBook Air 5.1.
When you attach a USB 3.0 device, you see the error message the device 'XXX' could not connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be to connect this device to the available host controller. This could result in undefined behavior for this device.

You can ignore the error message and the installation of the OS on the USB device. However, after restarting the virtual machine, the USB 3.0 device does not appear in the Start Menu.

Solution: Use a USB 2.0 as a replacement device.

Although I'm not trying to boot from USB, I always get this error. This means that the USB 3 devices are not supported? If they are supposed to work, how can I file a bug?  If they are not supported, is there a roadmap or some sort of indication of when we might be able to use USB 3 devices?

Thank you

Before connect you the USB 3.0 device to Debian 7 GOS, you must configure your USB controller 3.0 by hand, referring to the following Action Plan:

Action plan

=========

1. turn off the power GOS Debian.

2. click on settings ==> USB & Bluetooth, you would see the inserted USB device detected.

3. go in the advanced options USB,.

. USB compatibility: USB 3.0

. VMware Fusion must: connect to this virtual machine

4. again turn on the VM Debian and lsusb output, check if the USB 3.0 device works or not.

If it does not always, thank you to upload your package of journal of fusion vm-support us.

In addition, it works with my side under environment.

Test environment

  • Satellite L750 - Support for USB 3.0

Does anyone know how to determine if my new Toshiba Satellite L750-03C044 takes care of the increased speed of USB 3.0?

It has three USB Sockets - two on the right of the case and the left itself. All three taken are black, not blue that I could possibly expect for USB 3.0 support.

The three of us taken are marked with the trident USB logo. The one on the left is also equipped with a bolt of lighting journal.

Can someone please advise. Thank you very much.

    Hello

I ve checked specification and it is written that your laptop is 3 x Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports, so I fear there is no support for USB 3.0 m.

  • support for USB dongle

It is my understanding that ESX 4 supports the usb of the virtual machine. I also understand that VMotion does not support virtual machines that use the usb dongles. I plugged a USB stick in the host ESX 4, but I don't see where I need to configure the virtual machine to use the usb dongle. Can you please point in the direction of the documentation or tell me what configurations changes needed to make the visible usb dongle (s) to the virtual machine?

    Graceful,.

ESX does not support USB transfer, as in VMware Workstation etc. If you need to access USB dongles and also need to vMotion, you can watch the solution USB Anywhere of Digi (http://www.digi.com/products/usb/anywhereusb.jsp). It allows you to access USB devices over TCP/IP network. Works with most Windows systems.

We have good experiences with this and just love it

  • Satellite C850 does not support external USB or CD

    Hello

My C850 race that Windows 8 used to start perfectly to whatever option I chose.

Recently, I decided to check my different recovery media and discovered that despite being boot sequence
    USB
    CD
    HARD DRIVE
the machine will not start if the media drive or a Cd is inserted, I also used to get a line when booting saying something about the seizure of press F11 recovery console (I think), that option is also gone.

I have disabled startup secure in the Bios and disabled fast start for Windows power options.

    Pointers appreciated.

Note, it not to ignore the other boot devices and go straight to boot from the HARD drive, it just hangs and done diddly squat apart from the Num Lock to led lighting.

    Version of the BIOS V6.70
    ATI 2013 6514 (6528)

    Thank you in anticipation

Stand by. You have created a recovery using pre-installed Recovery media creator USB support?
A complete in Windows 8 stop. Put recovery USB to the USB port and start over for laptop but use F12 to get into the boot menu.

USB recovery must be recognized, and you can choose USB as the first boot device.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern, because you are facing problems with the connection of a device through USB ports.

I would like to inform that you need to check if your computer has USB 2.0. Most older computers have USB 1.0, which is not supported. I suggest you to connect different USB ports and check whether the USB port works.

Also, I suggest you hardware troubleshooting run and peripherals.

  • A powered USB hub will support Ethernet / USB?

Wifi in my office is uneven, so I need to wire a Macbook Pro (if that's the term). Because the Macbook Pro is not an ethernet port, I get an ethernet cable / USB. I also get a USB hub with an AC adapter.

I know that you should not the ethernet cable / USB in a hub that is normal because it won't have enough power. But a powered hub will provide enough power for thin ethernet connection? (This laptop gets transported frequently, so I want to minimize the number of items that need to be plugged in every time.)

  • Is - this Windows 2003 64-bit supports the USB WD My Passport HIS drive?

I bought a WD 2 TB my drive USB of HIS passport and tried to connect to a windows 2003 64-bit server, but the drive does not appear in the list of local drive. I checked in the computer management > Device Manager > ComputerName > discs and found that there is a driver for device usb WD My Passport 0748.

I conect the usb WD drive in my windows XP machine and copy the driver ITS \\Extras\WD device driver folder and transferred to local drive of the windows 2003 server and I tried to update the driver but the driver update failed and telling me that there are no compatible driver in the source folder.

Here are the contents of the folder:

    wdcsam - security catalog

    wdcsam - information for installation

    wdcsam - file system

    wdcsam64 - file system

I tried to search the site Web of WD for the compatible driver 64 bits, but, according to the Internet, the USB doesn't have a driver for windows because its use of the microsoft driver. Below are the links related to the topic of Microsoft and WD which, in my case, does not contribute to the problem.

  • Support of USB drive: auto XZ closed

Hi, in the car, I use a charger of Anker. I noticed when I stop the engine and the power of the USB loader is cut, power in xz.

This has happened several times now. I expect the phone to stay on. Possible bug...

    Kind regards

    Hello!

I'm afraid I don't know what it would be. I tested with a charger of Qualcomm QC3 here and unfortunately can't reproduce what you are experiencing.

We can only guarantee that an original charger that comes with the phone will be compatible with your device, fear, that we cannot guarantee that other chargers will be compatible with our machines we can test only using our own accessories.

I hear what you're saying, and I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you, but unfortunately, I won't be able to test the combination of accessories that you use as I don't have access to them here. Sorry for any problems this may cause for you.

  • Why computer does not sleep if something is supported on USB port?

When I try to load things into the USB port of the computer sleeps so they do not charge fully.  Can I substitute this short to change the time to sleep when I want to load something?  I thought that the only charge would make the computer think it is busy and so no sleep...

  • ESXi 5.5 changes in support of USB controllers?

Trying to upgrade my laboratory at home to 5.5 to test some of the new features before making roll at work and I encountered a problem with installing it.

I have a pair of hosts running 5.1 installed on a USB key with an internal SSD to be used as a host disk cache (prob to commute to vCache if ever I can get 5.5 to install).

5.1 and 5.0 before he recognized the USB and installed it without any problems, 5.5 however did not see the USB drive at all. In fact, as far as I can tell to halfway across the chest (to the yellow top half point) it seems to disable the USB subsystem entirely because the connected usb keyboard turns off at this point. He continued boot from USB CD-ROM drive

My best guess is that the UEFI boot is keeping in legacy mode usb controllers and present to the boot environment, ESXi starts the drivers for USB controllers attempts take charge from the UEFI bios and shut them down/is unable to load / who knows.

I was wondering if anyone else saw it and there a work around?

    My systems are:

    ASUS P8H61 - I motherboard R2.0

    processor i3-3220

USB stick plugged into the usb2 ports NOT usb3 ports

I had the same problem as everyone else, but I'm on an Asus ASUS RS700-E7/RS8, here's what solved the problem for me:

See the attached photo, by default EHCI transfer was disabled, so I chose "Enabled" as shown and restarted.

The keyboard and other USB devices then continued to be reactive. Research in transfer EHCI then is on my list unless someone can shed some light on this subject.
