Support to the security of the WEP networks

I did my secure wireless home network. My computer running windows XP THAT seems to be able to manage WEP security - it asks for my WEP key. I need to manage security WEP - No. I was told to look for Microsoft.com Article 871122.

  • Windows Vista Firewall: Uncheck basic network layout would make my computer more secure on the Public network?

I use the Public network a lot.  I noticed that on my Windows Vista firewall, Core Networking is checked on by default.  Unchecking it would make my computer more secure on the Public network?  I already checked in my firewall settings, block all incoming connections.  Regarding security, I run MSE, like Spyware Blaster in the background.  Automatic updating and Malware Protection are on.  My other security settings are OK.  I do not understand why Core Networking is checked on by default.  This would make an open port, right?  Unchecking it would make my computer more secure?  Thank you.

    Hello

If you uncheck Core Networking IPv4 and IPv6 will be unreliable or blocked.

You have a router, a firewall (today, most have them) which is excellent protection
for your network against external influences. In addition, Windows Firewall.

  • Printer all in one HP3520 - how to select the wireless network and enter the WEP key?

According to print my wireless network is detected.

How to connect the! @# % printer $ fo the wireless network and enter the WEP key?

Instructions on the HP site tell me to selet NETWORK on the printer control panel.  Well, there's a way to select the NETWORK from the control panel.  It is not an option for him.

I downnloaded and installed the latest drivers.

I have restored the default settings.

How to select the wireless network and enter the WEP key?

All of HP's instructions seem to be for a newer printer with a touchscreen.

I want that the printer is connected to my main computer via the USB port.  I want to be able to print wireless phones and tablets.

My 3520 is not a 'touch Screen' and it has wifi.

    However, the following work:

Try to open the HP Deskjet 3520 icon, open the utilities tab, click on convert USB wireless, by following the steps on the screen.

This leads me to believe that ONLY the wireless doesn't work.  I know now that the part of the sentence "Convert USB to wireless connection" is supposed to mean "works like USB and wireless.

  • How can I find the name of the network and the WEP key or passphrase WPA from my computer

I need to install a printer on my laptop, and I wanted to do it by using a wi - fi connection.  But its asking me my network name and the WEP key or the WPA passphrase!  Of course, you can say I'm not very computer savvy and my son actually made me the laptop for Christmas and it was all set up but now I try to install this printer all on my own and I don't know where I can find this info on my computer.  Help!

  • Router E4200, cannot secure the wireless network

When my E4200 wireless network appears on a discovery list of wireless networks, there a padlock beside him in devices (like my Xbox and iPhone) that who would use to show that it is a wireless network, requiring a password. When I use my Xbox to connect wireless now, he said: "you connect to an unsecured network. Are you sure you want to continue? »

I used the web portal to select 'Factory Reset' of my router. I also told my iPhone to forget and not automatically connect wireless network. After factory reset, I went to the configuration section of the web page wireless network access router, put a new name for the wireless network, personal WPA2 enabled for 2.4 and 5 GHz networks, developed a completely new password for two I had never used before and then looked for the network on my iPhone. I chose it and it connected right away without asking for a password. Still once, the network does not appear with a padlock next to him in the list of devices to the network from my iPhone WiFi and my XBox says always that this is an unsecured network.

When using my internet browser to access router, WiFi networks are both classified as WPA2 Personal and each has a password in the password box (and Yes, I recorded the changes - that's what it shows even if I disconnect and then reconnect to the router access.) I tried to remove the power cord for 30 seconds and plug in again and there is no change.

It's quite a recent change, like maybe the last week or more. I don't know if there was a firmware update or what - my router is configured for auto updates and when I click to check the latest updates, it says that there are no more updates available.

TL; Dr: said access my router my wireless security is turned on. None of my wireless devices see as secure WiFi networks and each of them can connect without having to type a password.

Do a reset factory and set up from scratch.

    If this fails, try this:

Manually download the FW file to the local office of PCs.
Reset the router, use IE or FF with all security disabled add-ons, load the FW file and let you treat.
Factory reset the router once more and set up from scratch.

  • Where and how to find the wep or wpa security key?

I am trying to go to Xbox 360 live. I bought a direct card and it worked fine after that I entered the subscription on the map code. The next day, I was unable to sign. I have tried everything I know, but now he wants my wep or wpa security key. I didn't when I first adding them. I am usuing a wi - fi connection and cannot locate a wep or wpa security key. Can you possibly tell me where to find it?

    Hello

The WEP or WPA security key is stored on the page of the router. I suggest you to connect on the router's Web page and retrieve the key that could help connect the Xbox.

  • How can I find the WEP key for my wireless network so that I can connect to it?

How can I find the WEP key

Steps to find a WEP key:

    1. open a browser (the program used to access the internet). The following process worked for me when using the

Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera browsers, although I'm not sure it will work for other browsers (for example

    Chrome, Safari etc.).

2 type the following in the address bar of the browser. If you use a Linksys router type in "192.168.1.1" and if

using a type of router Belkin "192.168.2.1". The address bar is the area where the Web pages are typed. It is important

When you enter there is NO http://www. before the numbers.

    3. If everything is is well past that should open a page which says that Linksys or Belkin.

    3. There may be the need of connection. When you use a Linksys if you don't know what are the user name and password, it may

always be the factory settings and then enter "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. If you are using a

Belkin router, the factory settings often come without password, click just send without having to type a password.

    4. click on one) "wireless" or b) "settings".

    5. click one) "Wireless security" or b) "wireless settings".

    6. There should be a page with a specified WEP key.

My wifi network tells me it is not secure and it is on the public network. How can I make private?

You must go into the router settings to change that.  What brand/model is your router?  If it is integrated into your modem?

You must set a network password that prevents people without using your wireless network.

  • format not supported in the windows Security Center

I have posted a question before and was told in spirtx?  I have cyberdefender under my protection from virus-everything.  I'm getting an error code cyberdefender is on, but he reports in a format that is no longer supported.  The other day, cyberdefender came out with their new version, but the error remains.  I have windows vista home 32.  What should I do, is - it safe select her don't you worry, I'll watch it myself to get rid of the error code?  CyberDefender says that my computer is protected 100%.  I read this message seems to be common.  I was the wmi and it is consistent.  I have all the updates, including sp2 on my computer since I use the automatic update.  I really think that it is a problem of microsoft.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.  The problem started about 2 weeks, until then, no error message, and I had the program since 7/09

Why post on a Forum of OneCare to Cyberdefender problems?  OneCare has nothing to do with the support of Cyberdefender, and OneCare would actually be a competitive request if it was still sold.

  • Dell support can make the diagnosis online on my computer damage water connected to the same network as the one I use now?

HI: My Office has undergone a lot of overhead sprinklers water damage in my condo fire. I ordered a new power and it fuels the system very well, but I have no video and tried the video card of the computer another and it does not work. I can connect my alienware aurora to the same network with the computer that I use now. The warranty has expired. Any suggestions on my case? Thank you

Our online diagnostics will not go to the bottom, you need. You must take the system at a local store. Must disassemble and examine most of its components in another system to try to dismiss what is defective or not. If all the components work in the other system, the CPU or the motherboard is faulty.
