HP support assistant sent me an urgent message (two exclamation points) saying "significant action" and that the windows firewall is disabled. I checked via the control panel windows firewall and it shows the windows firewall is enabled for public and private networks. Why is HP support assistant telling me that the firewall is off and windows shows the firewall on? Is the firewall enabled or not, and how can I solve this problem?

If the control panel it shows on so it's on. Sometimes there is a little problem with the wizard help only looking for the (trial) security software that comes on many HP computers. If your machine came with McAfee or Norton Security Suite and that you have uninstalled what may be what support assistant search. Just ignore the warning - should be an option to delete or ignore.

  • Support Wizard updates on the Pavilion dv6, Messages of Info w / English incorrect, etc. - is this Normal?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC (product number: XZ082UA #ABA) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I was installing the updates through the HP Support Assistant and a message appeared on the screen saying that it was "flashing" system and that the keyboard and the touchpad work not for the next minute or so, but the message box has some points of grammar that just made me a bit paranoid that it wasn't true... "The touchpad, keyboard would be no function during the flash process". My laptop has been really hard and as a windows command prompt were popping up then open Windows Installer. I don't know, I could just be acting paranoid for no reason, this is my first time installation updates through this program, so I don't know if this is normal... Just be careful because an error message containing a bad computer destroyed English of my brother... So I was wondering if it is normal that the update process.

    Hello Skunk,

If the update takes place through the Support Assistant, you are fine.  "Flashing" is the correct term for this type of update.  It is always better to prevent than cure.

    Good luck!

  • Adobe Download Wizard Trouble

Im trying to download an Adobe product.  The problem is that the program is installed via Adobe Download Assistant.  Whenever I click the .exe to download the wizard I click 'Run' and then nothing happens after that.  Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting the will you can also try to launch a direct download by following the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.  Perhaps you have security software or a software firewall that is interfering with Adobe Download Assistant.

  • How can I stop HP Support Assistant from loading at startup?

I have a Pavilion dvt6 running Win7 (x 64). Whenever I start my computer, the HP Support Assistant appears in the lower left of the screen. While I'm not interested in the uninstall wizard, I am not interested in having run every time that I start. I joined the service and disabled the HP Support Assistant, and I see the related .exe (hpsa_service.exe) file in my task as a process manager. Is there another process that I need to disable (or change) to close the wizard at startup, or a specific setting in the wizard for help I can to avoid any start-up start-up?

Hey darkhorse123 - I think I solved the problem! Window Wizard of decision-making support for would leap me upward by a few minutes after I started. My first thought was that it was because the Support Assistant was configured as a delayed start service, but no luck. However, today, after doing more research on the file, I came across a post at random - nothing to do with HP - but that seems to have targeted the cause - the Task Scheduler.

I checked my task scheduler and noticed that the HP Support Assistant Quick Start task has been configured to run three minutes after I booted the laptop. Coincidence with the pop-up calendar? Probably not! I changed the setting that I hope it worked.

To change the Task Scheduler settings, go to control panel > administrative tools > Task Scheduler. Open the items on the left (click on the arrow next to the Task Scheduler Library and the HP folder, and then click the folder Support Assistant). All tasks related to the Support Wizard should open on the top right of the screen. [If you do not see the triggers for each, click on each, then the trigger tab in the lower window]. Right-click on each that has a trigger, you want to change (including all tasks that start at startup...), and then click "Properties". Click on the tab 'Triggers' to the bottom of the tab is a button "Edit". Click on, and then change the setting to 'Begin task' all that is right for you. There is no "Never" setting, so if you just want to run the task manually, disable the button "Activate" at the bottom of the window.

I'm guessing that disable the HP Support Assistant simply prevents to start his own - and apparently this isn't the wizard that opens the pop-up window is the Task Scheduler runs Quick Start, that's why we had so much trouble. I restarted my laptop twice now and no pop up window is the time! I'm cautiously optimistic...

If this solution works for you. If so, I'll mark it resolved. Good luck - I'm pulling for you.

    Hello flowerbud414,

I see that you have trouble with the support Wizard on your HP computer. I have some suggestions that can help your question.

You must uninstall and reinstall the program to fix the error message. If you are unable to find the program in the list "Add or remove programs", you can try to find it by using the program in this link. It is a program of removal of software and it goes into the registry of the computer and remove all parts of the program.

Once you remove it, reinstall the program and the error should be fixed.

  • HP laptop - 15-ay011nr: HP Support Assistant suggests an incompatible update to my system

    Hello

HP Support Assistant suggested three updates for my system.

When you try to download the wizard, all of the facilities have not (a phenomenon that has been described by some other posters in this forum).

So, I looked for each three updates directly in the HP site, after finding my computer and the operating system (HP for computer laptop 15-ay011nr, 10 64-bit Windows).

I have found two of the updates, but not the third, called: "Intel WLAN for Micorsoft Windows", with Softpaq number SP76133, version 18.40.0.9Pp2, if it is relevant.

When I reviewed this softpaq number in the site, I have found, but saw that it's only for windows 7 and 8.

Why the HP support assistant that suggest an update for my system win 10?

Am I supposed to download it?

If not, is there a way to stop the support Wizard to think that I should install it?

    Thank you!

  • Should I Uninstall HP Support Assistant? If this is not the case, how to manage settings?

Hi, new and first post so I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place, I hope that someone will tell me otherwise.  Have computer laptop Pavilion G72 9 months with OS Win 7.  I was wondering if I can uninstall HP Support Assistant on it (not really computers does) so that it won't keep coming and wanting to do things - or me for them, do on the computer?  I'm not entirely sure that it's a necessary software and will occupy the space and not something there.  Would really appreciate if someone can advise on this please, thanks in advance for your help.

There are settings in the Support Wizard to disable certain features or reminders, some reminders are important, such as updates of software and the driver.

When you have time HPSA opened by the Group of all programs and take some time to learn what it does and how to disable some reminders.

You can uninstall it but are not recommended.

    I'm thinking the samething.

"BUT" decided that since I'm not afraid and I'm glad to see things to see how they work went and adjusted the settings.

I put so he can search for updates, "BUT" Let me decide wither to install them or not.

It is important to keep an update to my view, so that you can keep your drivers up to date apps.

The part of the maintenance of it I simply turned off altogether.

I prefer to use other applications and Windows applications by default to keep my PC at its most beautiful.

And I my maintenance once a week, most of the time, twice if not three times/manual including virus scans.

  • Pavilion 500-368na: update the BIOS, do not install via HP Support Assistant.

I tried four times to install a BIOS update (SSID Roma family 2AF7;) Version 80.20Ap1) provided in the Support Wizard, the update only installs on every opportunity. I get no error message. Restart the computer, but the version remains (FRIEND 80,19 (2014-07-18)) previous BIOS installed.

I tried to stop my antivirus program, but that did not help. I noticed that hangs the command screen with a blinking cursor, but no statement is visible, and then my computer restarts.

Is it possible that the update is corrupted? Any advice on how I should proceed would be welcome.

Yes, HP has indeed pulled the update.  Human system is in danger and you can continue to use your computer.  Everyone here is always on my list of contacts as events change.

  • HP Photosmart 5520: Delete a message HP Support Assistant

The symbol of HP Support Assistant in the bar shows constantly spots a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and the tool tip meesage said "action recommended necessary."   Opening of the support Wizard displays the message:

' Printers HP - cartridges work with my HP printer?

I have read the message and clicked on the icon to delete, but the message and the yellow triangle remain stubbornly.  Please tell us how to remove this message once and for all of the support Assistant.   The printer works great!

    Thank you very much

    Dave

    @Dave_V

@WAWood may be right about the said message tenacious; She might want to stick around, at least for now.

For other reasons entirely my own installation of HPSA "plugged my trip" with different messages that tend to recur or be replaced by another useful tip.

    It is of my workaround:

    Open HPSA > settings >

Under Select how you want to receive updates from HP >

Select check for updates, but let me choose updates to download and install

Under Select how you want to be informed >

UNCHECK all the options of notification

    Save

    NOTE:

    • ' Check for updates ' causes the HPSA to indicate when updates are available. the program will not attempt to download updates without your approval
    • Uncheck "all notification options" causes the HPSA down the taskbar

Windows key > search the list of applications, search and click on HP help and Support >

Right-click on HP Support Assistant > pine to start

    NOTE:

    • Pine to causes to start the HPSA program becomes available on your start screen
    • To access the HPSA: Windows key > click on HPSA

Pouf!  No more triangles, constant messages or updates unexpected.

    Reminder:

    • Never, never let the HPSA update your BIOS
    • BIOS updates should be performed only when necessary
    • BIOS updates must be done manually
