Hi, I have a VPCSB190x I currently have a hdd 5400 RPM inside, I have an SSD I would install. Is it possible to make the switch? Do I need some kind of support from Sony to do?

On windows 7 and all your Sony software, make sure you create a set of recovery disks. This will not save your files, it will just create a DVD set of the factory software and drivers. go to VAIO Care and select Create recovery to start media. You will need are a few blank DVDs.

Be sure to back up all your important documents and files!

Yes, you can install an SSD instead of hard drive. Sata3 is correct.

  • X 230-swap SSD HD - issues

230 X 2306 CTO here. I am about to replace the 320 GB HDD with Samsung 256 GB SSD 830. I use the factory recovery and rescue disks to install Windows 7 on SSD. I am still confused a few things.

The SSD is already formatted or do I need to format it? If I need to format it I do that before initiating the process of factory recovery or can I do during the recovery process?

Do I have to download and install the latest drivers from Intel rapid storage technology? I do this before starting the recovery process?

I have to do something by aligning partitions?

    Thank you!

If you connect the drive and run the restore Lenovo, it should partition the drive, install Win 8. and the drivers and do it all perfectly aligned (8. Win not on it has automatically installs on a new drive anyway).  Once loaded, simply use the Lenovo update software to update everytihng and you'll be ready to go.

That's what I was doing and it was completely number for free.  Good luck!

Please, I have a 500 GB HARD drive on my system. I can it switch to an SSD 1 TB for better performance?

    Thank you

    Hello

Nothing prevents you to do this. My suggestion

b clone HARD drive to new SSD using the cloning software (normally provider SSD offers a).

    (b) physical swap SSD HARD drive,

I exchanged about a dozen laptops, and the success rate is 100% on Sandisk and Crucial SSD.

Dreamweaver CS6 and CC both in Mavericks very slow page rendering against 10.8.5

    Any ideas?

Sorry, but please ignore all previous 'solutions '. It turns out that do these things help only in the short term.

The REAL problem seems to be that my iMac Fusion of the disc SSD was nearly complete data and has been swapping SSD disk page hard areas now and then. I deleted some applications and data, to reduce my volume of roots to 97 GB of content, and Dreamweaver now makes the pages quickly and reliably (do not have to recover hard disks).

Again, all my apologies and thanks for your help.

  • Swap HDD PSAAQE Equium A100 - 01 M - would be Crucial M4 work SATA III SSD 64 GB?

I have a friend in a bit of a State with their incredibly slow laptop; I have a spare old M4 of Crucial 64GB SATA and a couple of hours free in the morning. I said I would try to help and my plan is to swap the drives.

I see from the [Manual | http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport1.toshiba-tro.de%2ftedd-files2%2f0%2fuserman-en-20090212142351.zip] that there is a recovery partition.

I have one of these USB to SATA led and I really was hoping if someone could let me know something that Googling it has not revealed so far that is:

1: what SATA is this laptop? Is it 1 or 2? This player works on it?
2: what is the best method to copy the current structure of disk and partition? Preferably leaving the data not copied partition as this will be a full recovery.

Is that all I need to know?
Sorry if this IS answered elsewhere, but I have 2 hours to do, I do it for free, and I just googled this morning already.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    > 1: what SATA is this laptop? Is it 1 or 2?

As much as I know the satellite and the Satellite A100 supports SATA I controller.
The two series are the same.

    > This disc will work on it?
Well, since the SATA standard is backward compatible, the SSD should work but with lower performance.

    > 2: what is the best method to copy the current structure of disk and partition?
There are different options. You can use the Toshiba Recovery disk to reinstall the system on the SSD drive. Personal data (documents, pictures, mp3, etc.) could be copied to a USB flash to move disk of the SDS.

You can also create an image of your partitions and after installing the SSD drive, you can use the image file to recover partitions

In some cases, manufacturers of SSDS provides tools/software specific to a product such procedure too.

  • Hiding HP ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad Edition w/SSD and hybrid propulsion system. Swap disk for one SSD Question.

    Hi all!

I bought the HP ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad Edition and opted for the WSSD 24Go cache as well as the hybrid drive 1 TB. Do I have a problem just buy a kit of cloning and spend the hybrid propulsion system to a full on SSD in the future if I choose to?

I did some research but I can't isolate an answer if yes or no I might encounter problems on account of the Intel RST be "associated" with the traditional HARD drive caching.

So I wonder if I can't just simply disable acceleration of RST, clone HARD drive for an SSD via a cloning kit, remove the HARD and the SSD drive and call it a day?

Any help with this is appreciated!

Thanks for the info but I was even more so, I was wondering if I would have a problem Exchange with a new SSD hybrid drive later by cloning.

I thought that I would stick with the 8 GB of RAM and WSSD combo of cache/HDD for now and sometimes down the line (as in a year or two) to get rid of the HARD drive for a full on SSD, disable caching and at the same time move to 16 GB of RAM.

But I don't know if yes or no the WSSD cache/HDD combo makes it difficult to clone and swap the HARD drive and then just leave the disc of "cache" of 24 gigas (which is more a cache drive) there to be upgraded later.

    -Rob

Well, I think a pure 2.5 "SSD should work on the system but make sure the cache is removed. For the purposes of cloning, I suggest using the DD command:

  • XPS 8700 swapping HDD to SSD

Just received new XPS 8700 and swap wanted immediately to the factory installed 1 TB of HDD to a new Samsung 256 GB SSD. Given that Dell did not provide a Windows backup a DVD, I removed the HARD drive and tried to clone for SSD by using another computer running Windows 8. However, neither software Samsung SSD or EASEUS Todo Backup Free would allow me to clone the whole HARD disk, the SSD is smaller.

EASEUS has the possibility of reducing a selected partition so I could try to clone only the system partition main which is 940 GB but contains only 40 GB of data, mainly from windows and other software drivers, but I'm afraid that if I clone the other partitions, including the recovery of those, I will not be able to restore the system in the future.

Technician Dell told me to use an OEM Windows 8 drive for a clean install on the SSD, but I did not and fear may lose everything that Dell has installed on the HARD drive.

Should I continue the cloning attempts to use other software that allows to shrink the partitions if they contain no data - which one? Or XPS from the startup HARD drive as it is, make a record of system backup/image then, restore it to the SSD?

    Help will be very appreciated!

The Dell recovery partition can be easily removed without rendering the system unbootable, so my suggestion would be to leave them alone.

  • For one SSD HARD drive swapping

Permutation of my HARD for one SSD drive

    Dear people;

I recently bought a Dell SSD to swap with my HDD on my Studio 1558, Windows 7, 64-bit failure.

What I needed to know, is the image of the system will be enough to transfer all files and program, so the OS on the SSD. As much free disk space is concerned, I have more than enough to copy on.

I am concerned about Microsoft not to validate the transfer of Windows 7? I also have an OS drive that Dell sent me. Wouldn't be better to use it instead of the image of the system?

I thought that I would make sure I do that when the hour comes-any day now.

    Thanks for your time.

    dwdraw2

You must install windows from the installation media, and then reinstall all your programs and files. System images are only to reinstall on the same disk or a disk of size even. There is no problem with the license. This isn't for the computer hard drive. Reactivation should not be a problem, but you might have to talk to a person to explain the replacement of disc.

  • SSD as Cache host or Virtual Machine Swap or both file?

I recently acquired a 80 GB FusionIO card for my 5.0.0u1 of ESXi server. I've done some reading on how to correctly configure the SSD and I'm still unclear on how to proceed. It seems that there are two configuration options to be considered, host Cache Configuration and location Swapfile Virtual Machine. I don't want to use the SSD as a VM data store. Instead, I would use it to improve the performance of the VM.

    (1) may, and I use the SSD to the host Cache and swap file?

    (2) if so, did I have to attribute some of the SSD for the host Cache, say 40 GB and leave the remaining space for the swap file? Or I allow the Cache of host to use 100% of the SSD space then also allow the pagefile for all virtual machines?

    Thank you

    John

You should be able to use any SSD so it is detected by ESXi.

If you use this in production, make sure you first check the HCL.  If this isn't the case, as long the drive is recognized, you can use it.  Some time, SSDS are not automatically detected as an SSD.  In this case, you can label manually using the procedure, it is indicated in literature vSphere storage.

    http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-51/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.VMware.vSphere.storage.doc%2FGUID-C56B9994-24BF-4260-Baba-BAE38FFDCCED.html

You can then add it as a store of the host Cache database.

  • swap HD with SSD

I want to change my hard drive MacBook Pro with a Solid State Drive. Will it damage my motherboard? My connection speed is 6 gigabit and negotiated link speed is 3 gigabit. Pls advise.

What year Macbook Pro that you have not included.

The new Macs are not otherwise expandable. The batteries are soldered in RAM is soldered in, SSDS are difficult to find.

If you use one of the templates earlier from 2009 to 2013, they are upgraded.

Replacement of the HD with a SSD will not damage your motherboard.

Here are some videos that you can check out OWC that show you how to upgrade your RAM and hard drive to SSD. http://eShop.MacSales.com/installvideos/

Upgrading your hard drive for an SSD will make your computer run much faster. Also if you migrate to El Capitan, upgrading your RAM 8 GB is also a good idea.

    Good luck

Strange. When I download the "Windows Installation Media creation Tool" since the above url I've provided, the first dialogue I get is "what type of Setup you want to create" & I must choose language, edition & Architecture. When this is done, I get 'Choose where to save the installation file' & the two choises are "USB stick" or "ISO file".

From this upgrade url, I first have to enter my product key.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

but not to create restet refresh media url

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

The button 'Create a support' redirects me to this url to download the tool, where I can download the "mediacreationtool.exe".
