Switch Connectivity
Hey Cisco experts!
I have a small question, I'm sure you can answer for me. I have installation of the Israeli army for the clients that I questioned how they are physically connected. Connection to the MDF is ok because they use their ports of 10 GB on fiber optics. The question I have is if there are multiple switches in the Israeli army should they be connected to each other using their 10 GB ports from A to B and C and then also to connecting A to C on switch ports? I think it's can cause a loop but wanted expert advice.
Thank you
Hello
Yes, when you have multiple MDF switches, connect together to provide redundancy of the network. Of course if you connect to layer-2 switches together, you must run stp or use some other technologies like stack to make it look all MDF has a switch. There are also VSS for the 6500 that offer the same advantages as the stacking on the 3750 series. In this way, your don't have to use STP.

Location of switch connected upstream
Hello world
I inherited a custome with a bunch of SG300 in their LAN room and out in the warehouse.
I need to configure a VLAN and genius that made me not label what room LAN switch plugs into the unit from the warehouse. Is there a tool/method that I can use to find who pass and the port of this warehouse switch is associated to?
Thanks in advance.
Hi David, if the switch is on a relatively new firmware (everything except 1.0.0.27) then you can use CDP to find the directly connected switches.
If theyre on the original firmware, you have to use the mac address table.

GNS3 3745 - no switch connectivity
Hi all
use GNS3, and than switch 16port module. I created an instance of PC and connection to f/0/0, which is a port of layer 3, I can connect through Layer 3 IPs. Then, I reconfigured and connected to the instance of PC through a layer 2 port f2/0 which is part of the switch 16port module. The 16 ports are by default in the vlan 1. I have assigned an IP address of 10.1.9.1/24 to the VLAN and gave the PC 10.1.9.2/24. I can't ping and I can not even ping 10.1.9.1, VLAN 1 IP. Did I miss something? Thank you.

Cisco SG 300-20 switch connects to the router
Hello
I try to install my new switch Cisco SG300-20 in my local network, but I'm not succeed.
The SG 300-20 fails to connect to my router.
When the router is directly connected to the SG 300-20 I fails to obtain the DHCP configuration. Any port I try fails.
When I add a former switch between the router and the SG 300-20, SG 300 - 20 manages to get the DHCP configuration.
When I use a static IP on the SG 300-20 and the router is directly connected, it is not an operational bridge in the IPv4 configuration.
Where I'm looking for a solution?
The SG 300-20 is maybe defective and I would stay there?
A. van Egmond
A few things you can check are:
See if the system is blinking. If it is the default ip address. If it is solid the IP address has changed due to a static assignment or DHCP.
If no link light is on or the system flashes, the reason why could not tear out DHCP is due to a shift of port negotiation. Try setting the port on the router or the full 100 MB switch or what ever you like just to see if that helps.
Make sure that you are also on the latest firmware.
Try factory default of the switch with the button of reset for 45 seconds.

How to use a switch connected to the DAQ card as a source of events in a Structure of the event
Is easy using a switch on the front panel as a source of events. However, I like to use an external switch electrician on my card for the acquisition of data (NI PCI-6229) as the event source in the Structure of the event. Can anyone help?
Happy New year to you too!
Attached is an example in BT 8.5
- It uses the time-out loop (running every 100ms) to simulate your reading of the data acquisition card.
- A shift register is used to keep track of the previous value of the switch.
- When a change of the switch is detected, the user event is raised and the display will show the new State.
Running the vi with activated highlight performance can be useful.

two 6220 switches connected to the towing and storage Equalogic servers
any suggestion for the discrepancy between the switches of towing configuration
For redundancy of the switch, you would stack the switches. See page 59 of the guide: http://dell.to/1MVFCsU , he will learn more about the feature and set it up between the two switches.

WebLogic 9.2 switching connection pool
We use a Weblogic 9.2 application server. Now, we have an obligation to change the server database at a point in time because some process on the day of the day in a database. Is it possible to switch from one database to another without having to restart the server? I tried to use MultiDataSource, but it only works if one of the database is down... so I can't use it because the two database servers are in Active mode at this time...MultiPools should be thin. The pool you want to first, used in addition to the time list
and the second a secondary. A failover MULTIPOOL won't see the second
the first pool is unusable. You can make unusable during the execution of the
by disabling script from console or admins at any time, and you can turn it back on
later in any time you want, and the MultiPool will immediately start using it
Once again.

OK to mix 'of connection to the switch"and"close relay switch?
Hi all
I'm developing a test sequence using the card multiplexer 2527 to the track signals. To configure the card, I use DAQmx switch functions. In my application, I have a Subvi routine that imports the data from a spreadsheet Setup and run a loop for to set the configuration for each step (each iteration of the loop contains the channel for 2527 card information). The topology is set on the first iteration, as well as the configuration of the path to the first string.
My concern is this: I need to close the extra channels/relays without changing the topology or resetting the device. In the first round, I use "connection to the switch" function to set the initial path, (ch0 to com0 for example). Then in subsequent iterations of the loop, I use "Relay close switch" function to close the additional channels individually (for example k2). In the end, when the measure is taken, both ch0 ch2 must be closed and routed to com0. This implementation is so sure, or am I somehow to make the adjustments to the initial loop?
I would like to test this with the hardware, but it is not yet available.
Also, I realize that I could use independent topology and configure all relays individually for each step, but I hope that my approach will be easier and safer.
Please notify. Thank you.
GSinMN
Hello GSinMN,
It's OK to mix 'of connection to the switch"and"Close relay switch"If you understand what's happening below. "Switch Connect" connects two channels by closing a path of relay between the channels, then "Close relay switch" can be used to change the State of the individual relays. If you are not careful you can mess up your connection by activating / deactivating relays that are part of the route connecting your channels.
"Also, I realize that I could use independent topology and configure all relays individually for each step, but I hope that my approach will be easier and safer."
I would recommend the topology independent if you want to stick with connections to channels only. http://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/375472G-01/switch/2527_independent/
Initial connection:
CH0-> pcom0
pcom0plus-> icom0plus
pcom0minus-> icom0minus
icom0-> com0
In each future iteration just connect to the next to pcom0 channel (which will be indirectly connect it to com0):
CH1-> pcom0
CH2-> pcom0

a switch that is part of the battery will charge if it loses connectivity to the master?
If I have 4 switches configured as a stack - where the StackWise ports are connected within 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4 and 4-1. Switch1 is the master.
If something were to break stack connectivity between 4 to 1 battery still works as switch 4 still has connectivity to control through 3 to 2 to 1.
Below the output of reference-

With this as the current state 2 reload automatically cause the 3 and 4 to charge because they lose connectivity to control completely or they will stay up as of the individual switches
And same question again - switch 3 cause reloading will rise 4 to recharge automatically as he lost connectivity to control completely?
I've seen this happen... so need to confirm if what is expected or we must check and solve another question that might have caused this!
This is not the expected behavior. A member of the battery is disconnected does not cause other switches to restart. They work as individual switches.
Cisco documentation:
An active switch connected to a fully operationalstack becomes member of the stack. It receives the functioningsetting up the master of battery. When you disconnect a battery MemberUh, numbers and port switchnumbers of the remaining members of the batteryno change and the switches do not recharge.http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/switches/LAN/catalyst3750/software/...

Hello
Your switch runs hybrid, which means it runs CatOS on the SP and IOS on the RP. You are connected to the RP to be able to use the hybrid you must first connect to the SP and then you can get the PR by issuing the command-session 15 that will register you in the RP that takes place in IOS. To return to the SP just type "exit" and it drops you to MS.
Hope this helps. !
