My Satellite A300 came with two 200 GB hard drives (drives C and D). What is the best way to use the D drive? Now I have nothing about it. If drive C fills the computer automatically switches the D drive?

A basic question, I know, but the manual provides no information on this subject.

    Hey Dearborn,

    > If drive C fills the computer automatically switches the D drive?
No, D: drive will not be filled automatically.
When installing the program, you will be asked which drive they will be installed. So you can choose between C: and D: drive.

In general there are no rules the use of two hard disks. You can do what you want.
In my opinion the best is if you install all the programs on C: drive (first HARD drive) and save your private files such as photos, videos, documents, etc. on drive D: (second HARD drive). Its advantage is that if you need to reinstall Windows at all times, these files on the second HARD drive will not be deleted. ;)

What is raid? A large number of people I know use raids.

RAID 1 (mirroring) is not a backup solution. RAID 1 uses two or
Several readers, each one duplicate of the other, to provide redundancy,
no backup. It is used in situations (almost always inside)
companies, not in homes) where any city cannot be tolerated.
because the way it works is that if a disk fails the other takes
    more seamlessly.

Although some people thing of RAID 1 as a backup technique, it is
what it is, because it is subject to a simultaneous loss of the
original and many of the main dangers facing the mirror
your data - serious power, close to the lightning seeds, virus
attacks, stolen computer, etc. Most companies that use RAID 1
also have a solid plan of external backup in place.

  • Can Qosmio G50 - 11R - I use two hard disks?

    On the Qosmio G50 - 11R

Anyone know if it is possible to install two hard drives in this laptop?

As far as I know, you can only use one HARD disk in the Qosimo G50 - 11R.

But you can check this, if you remove the second HARD drive cover (it's the only screw) and there may be a second HARD drive connector or not, so I think.

  • Look at one of these two hard disks in Windows

    Hi guys

    Sam X 200 m/n: PSPBUA-00N007 running a Vista Ultimate operating system.

I wanted to see if I can get Windows to recognize the two hard drives as a single. I tried to change the 2nd HARD disk to a dynamic and extending of the primary HARD drive, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can I do this in Windows? Or is the OEM Toshiba which prevents me from doing this?

    Any suggestion would be fantastic.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

what you would have is a RAID stripe both of your HDD´s. But is there a RAID controller installed in this machine? I Don t think so and even if yes, then you need to reinstall your operating system, but you must first create a RAID 0 stripe.

Because the machine (as I know) is not equipped with a RAID controller, then a regular SATA controller you will have no chance.

  • Images of a unique catalogue on two hard disks can be consolidated for a non-destructivly drive?

My catalogue contains images of two different hard disks. One, my main drive and the other a small external. I want to draw all the files from the outside for the larger hard drive WITHOUT deleting them from the outside. I think that it's impossible to all the research I've done. I can easily move the files moving files in Lightroom, but this removes the files from the original disc. I can't import the files because they are already in the catalog. I can use Explorer to copy the files, but when I do this Lightroom ignoring double because he already knows about the image and where it was originally and still is. This is true even when the external is disconnected.

One idea is to create a new catalog and import all of the photos in the new catalogue. If I do this will I lose any changes that I made in the original catalogue. And I can import the files from the primary drive without in fact to pass the actual raw data that is just say this new catalogue hey these pictures are already in this folder go to find them and then import the files from the outside, by physically copying in the dialog box import to lightroom from outside the main disk. This translates into a large photo file on the main drive with all the pictures imported and named the same way taken by date without destroying the files on the outside.

Cleaning of the mistakes of the past is always much more complicated that take those time and not make them in the first place, but I have not lived my life that way. Thanks for any help.

    Best for the community,

    M

    Not true, it is possible.

In your operating system, you COPY the files (and not MOVE) bigger hard disk, then point Lightroom to the new location of the pictures on the larger hard drive using these instructions (scroll down to the section called "Update folder location")

  • The recovery disk reformatted TWO hard disks on Satellite P200?

    Hello

My Satellite P200 has two hard drives.
When I use the recovery disc, it reformatted both drives or only one where Vista will be? I chose the first option, by the way.
Thank you, in advance, for your help.

If you choose the first option in recovery then it reformatted only the first HARD drive and it will consider the other HDD as additional storage space, as if it were a memory stick. When you get to the point of recover where you choose the operating system to install, it takes an option for settings or Expert mode. In one of them, I think that you can configure recovery and set up partitions.

If you want the operating system must be installed on both drives HARD, which is a bit useless, you have to remove one then do the reocvery on the other and then replace the retrieved by another and then to perform the recovery on that one. The only thing that I think this will mess up to comes from the computer won't know what MBR (Master Boot Record) to load, but if this isn't a problem then you can do what I just mentioned.

    I hope this helps.

  • Can I install win 7 pro on two hard disks on the same computer, to be a recovery in case of virus problems.

I have an older hard drive and a new on my computer, I installed windows over before hard disk, I bought another hd.

I would like to install the os on the new hd as well as the old hd, in the case of a failure of the system, is it possible?

You can't, it would be considered separate licenses and cause problems of product activation.

What you need to do, is keep Windows 7 installed on a single disc and create a backup of your system on an external hard drive to backup:

  • Need help synchronization of two hard disks. It's like a problem of history ;)

Hello, I use the latest version of Lightroom CC on an imac and macbook. I have two external drives that I keep updated catalogues duplicate and image files on. (it is a fairly new practice for me) I know it's heavy, but I like the idea of being able to edit any picture at any time in lightroom or photoshop.

The problem is one of my drives lack now all my folders in the lightroom catalog and I can't understand how to get back them.

The reader, I created a folder for my lightroom catalog and parent a folder for all my images. I copied then each of them to drive B. Once I open lightroom on drive B using all my laptop, I had to do was click on the parent folder and choose find missing files and I was back in business. in recent weeks, I went back between readers and computers make copies and put up-to-date catalogs and the image files that I went without problems.

Today, I accidentally opened lightroom with two drives connected and worked on the B drive when I thought that I was working on the reader a catalogue. I don't know exactly what I did but I lost all the files I had to drive A. I think I can try to find missing files and choose the right folder, but I'm not sure. The good news is I can still work on the B drive and it is fully functional, but I need to know how to recover my files on a drive.

Can someone help me with this?

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that you use correctly the two discs. A reader (A) must be the drive working, any changes made here. The other disk (B) must be your emergency backup where you frequently copy the new files to a. No work should never conducted on the B, the backup drive.

The LR catalog follows by {drive + path + name} image files.

The location of the catalog is completely independent of the location of the images.

When you copy the catalog of drive A to B by car, the catalog B still points to the files on drive A.

If you want to use the catalogue on B with images on B, you must go to the files Panel and "relocate" all top level folders to point to drive B.

The same thing occurs when you copy the catalog of drive B into drive A.

  • Satellite P300 - how to use two HARD disks?

    Satellite P300 with 2 hard drives (250 (= 232)) GB.

The first hard drive seems to be partitioned as (Vista) C: and F: (data). The F: drive contains a folder HDDRecovery, which I understand is recovery Vista using F8.
The F: drive takes 117 GB and is empty outside the data recovery.

I seem to be able to create additional folders on this drive F:, but I am concerned about the reliability of the data in these additional files, because it is on the partition of "valorisation".

I want to reduce the F: drive and add a FAT 10 GB drive at the end. Then, I want to install Linux on the 2nd HARD drive, using the Toshiba boot options to choose the boot drive at startup (DO NOT install GRUB on HDD1 but on HDD2). The 10 GB FAT at the end of the 1st HARD drive will allow sharing of data between Linux/Vista.

    So, questions:
    (1) is it safe to use drive F: (recovery) for normal data storage Vista?
    (2) the possibility of recovery will affect in any way if there are records of additional data on the recovery disk? (Note: I am not in contact with the folder HDDRecovery somehow, and I did the recovery DVDs).
    (3) can I reduce the F: drive without affecting recovery options?

    Thank you very much
    GB

    Hello!

    I completely agree with Garrett.

I store my files on drive F too where is the HDD Recovery folder but I didn't not store files in there. I create additional folders.
In addition, I would like to change the size of the partition where is the HDD Recovery folder. Maybe it will not work after that, but if burn you the recovery disk, you are on the safe side.

    Good bye

  • What is the difference between a hard disk 7200 RPM and a 5900 RPM HDD?

I guess, but doesn't this average 7200 tours / minute.  A 5900 would be difference of 1300 towers.

    Hello

Faster a car runs faster, it can access the files. Of course, there may be other differences
that affect speed such as the cache size, number or heads and others.

Check the transfer rate DTR (Data) - slower disks are usually cheaper.

  • Two hard disk drives, how to remove the new E drive in XP?

My XP system crashed and I reinstalled the Windows XP operating system and I have now 2 hard drives, the original C with 76 GB of space and the new E with only 2.5 GB of space and I get a message that says that my disk space is insufficient, and I can download is nothing more nor can I use the system restore because it says that there is not enough disk space.  How can I get rid of this new drive E and keep my old C drive?

You told us that if you try to install with a CD or a restore partition by pressing an F key?

The product key sticker is on the side of the hard drive?  It's a bit a strange place for the Windows product key sticker, this sticker is usually outside the computer.  You really need to make sure that you have the product key, otherwise you will not be able to install Windows!  The product key is made up of five series alphanumeric each containing 5 digits or characters in this format: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

I can only emphasise this point, you better, make sure you have the right key, otherwise you will be up the proverbial Creek without a paddle!  If you can still start the old installation of Windows, I suggest strongly that do you use ProductKey of Nirsoft to retrieve and check the key used for installation, ProductKey is available here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

How many hard drives you have installed in the computer?  If you have only one disc, and if you use a CD for installation, then when you get to the selection screen of disc and partition delete all partitions on the disk and then create a new partition using all available space on the drive and format it NTFS.  Once you do that and before you start Windows Setup, restart the computer with the CD and then install Windows on the new partition, this restart after you delete and recreate partitions avoids assignments of unexpected drive letter by the installation program.  It goes without saying that all data on the disk will be lost when you delete the existing partitions, and then create a new.

When you install Windows make sure that only the keyboard, mouse and monitor is connected to the computer, disconnect all other devices such as external hard drives, printers, flash drives, etc.

  • Lost one of the two hard disks? Help!

So I'll preface this by saying clearly, I'm a noob.

I received a HP 9730nr laptop and reinstalled Windows Vista from the recovery disks that I had burned.

The system came with 320 GB of hard drive space. 160 x 2. Well now my system seems to only recognize one of these drives. Once the adjustment I now see under computer: OS (C :) 136GB and HP_Recovery (d) 12 GB.

Can someone help me try to find how to set my computer to recognize the other hard drive? Since it clearly has not just pull out the laptop and fly away, I really see how I can get it back.

    Thank you!

Ah ok! Right-click on "Unallocated space" and click on create the partition.

  • Satellite P300 with two hard drives

    Hi all

I have a Satellite P300 1 9, which seems to have two hard drives of 250 GB. A (Hitachi) is partitoned 'Vista C and E Data' and the other (Toshiba) is listed as drive had ' which is empty. If I right click on anything, say a document, and select ' send to ' I don't have the option to send to the D drive. How to store data on this drive?

    Thank you

    cheven.

If your laptop has two hard disks, it clearly appears in Windows Explorer.
The first HARD disk is divided into two partitions, and on the second partition, which belongs to the first HARD drive, you will see folder HDDRecovery (do not remove the second HARD drive).

Deleting files is the same as on the withdrawal between the two partitions. It is the WXP/Vista basic know-how.
