However, please see the discussion here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Mouse-Pointer-Size-Changes-Constant...

I hope this helps a little.

    Hi all.

I see some previous posts that this problem has been addressed one way or another a few times and I have tried several fixes and have had no success.

    1. I have a toshiba L300 beside of me (girlfriends), and this feature works very well. V annoying!
    2. I was never able to activate scrolling. I know where the setting and tried to check/uncheck the boxes / press 'apply', then ok and the other way around.
    3. I reinstalled the drivers from toshiba (synaptics).
    4. I updated the bios of tempro. Although I just registed for tempro recently, the dates in the list of updates seemed quite old. That is to say. not much new stuff available anyway.

    This is where im at!
    Any advice would be apreciated.

    Hello

In my opinion what you already done is right and I m really the idea you can try except installation of OS more radical solution with recovery CD/DVDs. After that do what you will have new factory settings. As far as I know virtual scrolling is enabled by default and it should work after the first start.

It doing this, you can do the ultimate test and remember, if this feature works or not.

  • I have my touchpad disabled, when the present mouse, randomly re touchpad allows

My touchpad disabled randomly re allows, with my hung wireless mouse. usually at the wrong time like in the middle of a battle over a game making me do right or left clicks or other things I won't do. He also re active on a start or restart and works with the installed logitec mouse. opening of the mouse still once, that turns off the touchpad again.  so not a problem serious but embarrassing. If disabled, it should remain disabled.

I made a few changes to my laptop boot order and the 500 GB hd was initially divided into 3 partitions. one for the operating system and two equal, when I arrived at 245? GB of data on my partition it didn 't' t use the other 245 and says the disk is full, in order to use the entire disk, I've merged the two partitions and afraid of possible complications, if I try to do a cleanboot.

I did even with my computer windows 8, which has had problems with the update windows 8.1 do not restart after the update. I fixed it by changing the bios boot order, and now it works fine. and it restarts with all my previously installed programs and files still intact.

So, if after what I did for my laptop I'm a little hesitant to make a cleanboot and possibly make my computer unusable. It shouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to take any chances!

Thanks for your response have a great day!

  • Satellite U400 - PSU40E Synaptics touchpad problem after the recent update to BIOS

    Toshiba welcome,

I've tested this in reverse, this is why the statement in the subject as it looks. After upgrading the bios of 3.00 to 3.50 touchpad loses its precision. Very rude and useless its like that.

I tried different drivers, everything, but the only way to really solve this problem was it downgrade to 3.00 OR uninstall the driver Synaptics completely. Second solution, unfortunately, is unacceptable, because then I lose some features, like click on contact, which I don't use and control.

    Best regards

    Wojtek

    Hey Buddy

I U400 and the BIOS has been updated to the newest one.
The touchpad works like a dream. I m using Win XP and Vista and there is NO problems after BIOS update!

In your case, this may be only a software problem and I think you can use the Toshiba Recovery disk and could reinstall the whole OS from the Toshiba drive

It is a really radical solution because the whole HARD disk may be formatted, but if the resettlement of these two drivers touchpad didn t help then I think this would be the last solution.

  • HpNotebook i5 u6200: Synaptics touchpad returns to the default values on reboot

My new notebook using Skylake i5 CPU 6200, intel agrees alteration to it, s default settings (I have to disable "TAP" because otherwise I continue to create unintended entries - it's an age thing)

Change Synaptics settings works fine, but when the machine is restarted, the Touchpad is back to its default settings, with many skillful clever additional features, including TAP.

I have ensured that I have the latest driver from HP and Synaptics.  When I reported this problem to the HP support in November, told me it was a known issue and must be sorted in January...

Still no luck so don't anyone know what is happening, or a solution?

    Thank you

    Hello

    Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

In the run box, type regedit and press enter

In the registry editor, navigate to the following

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If it is present, right click on the key and select Edit

Set the field data of the value 0 (zero) , and then click Ok.

    Close the registry editor.

Make the Synaptics setting changes you need in the usual way and save them, and then check if they are now kept after a reboot.

  • Satellite A210 - Synaptics touchpad Dual loses the function

    Hello

I have a Satellite A210, its old now about 3 months.
At first when I typed in the upper right of this mouse pad, it turned a bright blue color and I could use it to control the volume and open up to 6 zones with one touch.

However during the last couple of months, without apparent reason, it doesn't work anymore, all I can do with him now is tap in the top right to enlarge a window and click at the bottom left of the minimize a window.

Anyone can help to explain why this is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated that its very frustrating.

    Thank you

  • The faulty Synaptics Touchpad on x 2 13-m121sa Split driver causing frost and lack of response from the mouse

Edit: I found a solution, scroll down.

I had problems with my new Split x 2 similar to those already explained in the forums by other users. The symptoms are:

    1. unusual hanging or freezing of the mouse pointer on the screen and the use of gestures temperament (two fingers to scroll, zoom, etc.).

    2. slowdown in the computer in general; acting lethargic and freezing during light use or after closing the display.

The symptoms seem to change according to the duration of the computer was operated and are affected by the screen from the dock of disconnection/reconnection.

Being very good with these things, I decided to investigate and discovered the following:

The root cause of both problems is the driver for the Synaptics Touchpad. While the latest version available on the HP website (17.0.10.9) seems to solve all unusual freezing of the pointer it has a large memory leak. In other words, when you move it on the touchpad pointer uses the memory of the computer. This is normal, but the problem is that the driver for the touchpad does not return memory; It cannot be reassigned. In other words, after a few hours of computer use (or to have the display closed) memory reached saturation point and the version of the computer to a halt.

If you encounter the same problem take a look for yourself: open the Task Manager and look at the performance tab. Under the brief entitled you will find a value for "Non paged pool. With the computer idle, this number will not rise, but move the mouse and you will see it go gradually upwards without return. I have confirmed this to be the Synaptics driver using the Windows tool poolmon.exe - the culprits are the Irp and SynT.

About the solutions, I tried a lot - but there is no absolute solution.

You can uninstall the Synaptics Touchpad driver and the problem will disappear - the memory usage is no longer freezing or high. But unless the driver that the computer is to use the standard Windows driver - there is therefore no multitouch gestures like scroll or zoom in.

I tried to install the generic Synaptics driver available on their site, and the computer will not allow him. Regardless of this, I forced the installation of the driver, but the generic driver does not work with this Touchpad anyway (error code 10). I tried the latest version (17.0.19) and a former one (16.2.21) without success. Even earlier (e.g. 15.x.x) refused to run on the grounds of incompatibility.

HP support suggested a "Refresh" of system setting to factory, but put aside from the huge inconvenience of time and losing files - I know that this does not work either. Apparently a clean install worked for a single user - but for this you need an installation of Windows or USB disc that I did not - and I am skeptical that it would work anyway.

So now I use the touchpad driver Windows standard without being able to scroll, zoom or use them slide-in gestures of Windows 8.1.

If a representative from HP is reading this, I strongly suggest that this issue be escalated. A simple update to Synaptics could solve this problem which is causing the computers people freeze and lose your support staff time.

TL; DR: Driver HP Touchpad is defective and causes a memory leak. Synaptics has generic drivers do not work. And the standard Windows drivers are not satisfactory.

    SOLVED!

Through my own research I found a solution. While the most recent driver listed under this model is 17.0.10.9 it is actually a newer version which doesn't have this problem: version 17.0.10.16!

I am always disappointed that HP has not suggest this solution themselves, given this driver was published in November 2013! HP if you're reading this: Please allow this driver for this model in your support pages.

In any case, the solution is:

    1. open Device Manager (Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> Device Manager)

2 in the 'mice and other pointing devices' open «HID Synaptics TouchPad»

    3. in the "Driver" tab, click "Uninstall".

    4. the pointer will disappear - restart the computer

    5. download the new driver from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=uk & lc = on & softwareitem = ob-127354-1

(if that link fails try to search online for 'synaptics driver 17.0.10.16')

    6. open and install the driver

  • Synaptics touchpad two fingers scrolling does not work in the player to develop modern UI application Windows 8.1

I have a HP Envy TouchSmart UltraBook 4-1161er. Two fingers to scroll worked well in all modern user interface applications that come with the pre-installed operating system Windows 8.1, but the situation changed after the upgrade to Windows 8.1. Now this excellent and very useful two fingers scrolling does not work in the updated reader application. How to make it work?

If the problem is in the drivers, maybe, install the drivers the latest may correct this?

I tried to find the latest drivers for the touchpad Synptics in my ultrabook on the HP website, but it's the same old v16.5.3.3, I already have (published in may 2013). Synatics official site contains a link to the latest touchpad driver pack v17.0.19. Can I install it?

I would try to install the Windows 8.1 (64-bit) driver Synaptics touchpad available in the download section of your sleekbook web support before using compatibility mode.  If the current driver does not work for you, try the earlier versions available .

If you have no positive results, then use the compatibility mode (select Windows 8) on all three Windows 8.1 synaptics touchpad drivers, starting with the most recent.

To use compatibility mode to install the driver just softpaq to the right, click on the file and choose troubleshoot compatibility. Select Windows 8 and run the installer.

  • X 360 13-4101dx spectrum: spectrum x 360 (13-4101dx) Synaptics Touchpad issue

Hello, I just bought a new spectrum x 360 (13-4101dx), preloaded with Windows 10 and I have problems with the Synaptics touchpad. After an update of Windows, the driver has been updated to version 19.0.12.95.  I have a reverse scrolling disabled, but for some applications, the two fingers scrolling is always reversed. Applications like Google Chrome and Device Manager are working fine, reverse scrolling is disabled. However, for applications like Windows, Microsoft Edge settings and practically everything related to Windows, it seems to be reversed at all times. In addition, whenever I restart my laptop, all parameters returned to default.

Now, on my HP Envy 15-j000, I have the same driver (19.0.12.95) and that I encounter the same problems with being "permanent" reverse scrolling on Windows-related applications. However, the settings still restarts after every reboot.

How can I fix? Synaptics will publish a fixed driver for this or am I just missing something? I hate the reverse scrolling and only a small handful of my applications actually traveled with this option disabled.

I have this same problem with my HP OMEN using the 19.0.12.95 driver, windows update says that it is the latest version of the driver. Scrolling is reversed in some applications/settings.

I fixed this problem by going back to an older driver (18.1.30.2), the scrolling is now uniform. A little annoying that I had to fix this way, but I had to go to the drivers/HP Omen support page and download the driver for the synaptics touchpad (even if the HP website insist that use Windows update for Windows 10). I had to then install the old driver, go into Device Manager and do back the driver to 18.1.30.2 - win 10 will use the latest driver unless you do this. After that you can change the setting in the settings of the synaptics clickpad, and it will be uniform. This is what worked for me.

  • Synaptics touchpad folder

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx Entertainment PC that has the Synaptics Touchpad.  Recently, I accidentally uninstalled the Synaptics Touchpad folder and its files that control my touchpad.  He now is erratically, shows an orange light on and turned little matter what I do.  I need to download a copy of the Synaptics Touchpad and install the driver to recover my touchpad features.  Where can I find this download?

    Hello cbuckner7789,

I don't know what OS you have, but you can select here, then you should see the list of drivers available for download.  It will be inside the section, 'driver - keyboard, mouse and input devices.

You can also use Recovery Manager to restore your software and drivers.

Please let me know if it helps.

  • How can I disable tapping on Satellite A210-103 with a Synaptics touchpad

    Hello

How can I disable tapping an A210-103 with a Synaptics touchpad.
Tapping means to me, that when I touch the touchpad of the notebook translate under circumstances like a mouse click, on which I don't want.

In the settings of the Germans, I found nothing of such "tapping."

    Jürgen

    Hello, Hans Juergen

Of course, you can turn off the tapping.

I assume that you want to disable this tapping and instead of tapping you want to use the two buttons on the touchpad. Am I wrong?

    This can be disabled
Control Panel-> mouse-> last tab settings of the device (or similar).
There you have to choose the Synaptics TouchPad settings

The new window should open, and you could find a lot of different details and parameters.
You must mark the second option tapping. It s from the point of view of all.
Here you uncheck the option enable tapping

    That s all ;)

  • Synaptics Touchpad no longer works correctly

    Hello Internet!

Hear my fate and tremble: I recently updated my drivers from the official manufacturer website Synaptics touchpad.  Before the update I could press twice on the upper left of the touchpad to enable and disable the touchpad.  It is a convenient feature that I have grown very fond of.  However, after the update this feature no longer works!  I'm so devastated...  I really enjoyed watching the pretty light outline of my touchpad to turn to a hurt red when it has been disabled.  I suppose I could return the drivers back to their old form, but I wanted to check if anyone knew a separate fix so that I could have as well the new drivers and the old features that I loved so much.

  • How can I activate the scrolling on the touchpad mouse

I'm trying to figure out how to do the scroll to work on my laptop touch pad mouse? I used to b able to click on the button and drag the page up and down. where the parameters to activate it bak?

    Hi CStockwell13,

    A. who is the manufacturer of the laptop?

    (B) since when is - not working?

You may need to check the manufacturer's Web site and download the touchpad drivers and install it on your laptop.

Once installation is complete, you will need to restart your laptop and configure the touchpad and its functions of scrolling on the touchpad console located in the Manager of tasks.

Restart the computer and configure the touchpad and function of scrollbars by checking on the console of the touchpad.

    I hope this helps.
