System backup fails with the error no disk space

I have a Dell laptop with Vista. There E. internal recovery disc I saved 1/2011, but subsequent backups fail, no disk space. The previous backup should be deleted everything first?  I'm afraid to delete all files on the recovery drive for fear of a further backup failure.  If there are files already on the drive if no changes have been made their backup just jump on them and backup new files?  I'm not a computer guru so sorry if these are questions fans.

Hello

When you set up your computer, you must create a backup image of the Windows computer, which is like taking a snapshot of the programs, system and files on your computer settings. You can use this backup if your computer ever stops. Although this type of backup includes your personal files, we recommend that you back up your files regularly using the back up files Wizard. You must also update the Windows complete PC backup image every six months.

If you copied the data from drive E to another location, then it is safe to delete the content in the reader.

    Hey Joe,

    (a) did you get an error with this error code?

    (b) do you remember to make changes on the computer before the show?

This could be the shadow copy Volume service, and SPP services are not started.

To restart the Volume Shadow Copy service and the services of the SPP. You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.

1 open administrative tools by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.
    2. double-click on Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. If the SPP function is disabled, double-click it to open the service properties.
    4. If the Volume Shadow Copy service is double-click on it to open the service properties
    5. click on the startup type list, click Automatic (delayed start), and then click on apply.
    6. under the service status, click Start.

  • WIN 7 x 64 backup fails with the error 0 x 81000019

I've tried everything suggested online ensuring that VSS & SPP to automatic and started. I even went a step further because I had a personal copy of all my files on my backup drive (WD My Book Studio Edition 1 TB) - I did a clean reinstall of WIN 7 thinking that would solve the problem but nothing is done - I have always the same error message "a SHADOW copy could not BE CREATED - please CHECK VSS & SPP APPLICATION of the EVENT LOGS FOR MORE information. Thanks for posting on our forums.

  • Missing icons and the system restore failed with the error code: 0xc0000022

More a cosmetic problem, but it is annoying me.  I wonder if anyone can help.

I'll try to explain what happened and explains the steps that I tried to solve.

At the launch of windows, after connection, some icons began to miss on the desktop.  Below, these appear to be programs of Microsoft and Apple.

If I choose to properties and then change icon... from the office, I get the following error:

Icons for mainly products of Microsoft and Apple are also missing from the start menu.

However, if I go into properties here, the change icon... button is grayed.

It happened once before.  I tried to run the system restore.  The last time I did this the system restore said have failed - however, the icons were restored.  I tried the same thing again once, however the system restore has not (yet), but this time, the icons are still missing.

I tried to create a new user, but the new account also has the missing icons.  I also ran a full virus scan (Avast) and Windows Defender, but they found nothing.

While not a huge problem, it's annoying, and I wonder if it points to a bigger hidden problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    • This morning, I have updated the firmware on my SSD to activate the TRIM. I restored an image of the drive I did with Windows Backup and Restore just before updating the drive.

    Problem:

    • I tried Windows Update after update of the SSD. It downloads all updates, installs, and prompts you to restart the computer to complete the installation. During the shutdown, some files are 'configured '. Upon restart, during the boot of Windows GUI (circles of flight), there is a break-up of the code, something about the registry. On logon, it gets "35%" and says so "returning default configuration updates,' or something like that. I get a notification indicating that the updates failed.

    What I tried:

    • Disk Cleanup attempt (and unfortunately removed all restore points). Did not work.
    • Attempt to sfc/scannow. He found a few files, that it could not correct; I have the CBS.log newspaper if you need. However, updates still do not work.
    • Tried to reset the resource manager to file with "fsutil resource setautotest true c:\ ». She is successful. However, after the restart, the updates still do not work.
    • Tried a Full scan with MSE. No anomaly.
    • Tried to reset components to update Windows (using the Vista Fix - It via KB971058). Updates still do not work.
    • Attempt of Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (updated dec 2010) Full Scan, no malicious software was detected. Updates still do not work.
    • Attempt of Anti-Malware analysis complete Malwarebyte, no malicious software found. Updates still do not work.

I don't think that this is malware, but a Windows problem... My internet is wobbly for these last two days, a lot of packet loss (pages only "" half load, some missing frames, etc.). Not sure if this is related, but it downloads the updates very well. It is not always the marker "35%".

I'm out of ideas. What's next?

    Thank you

    1. about 1 year, I installed MSE.

2 McAfee has been preloaded; the subscription was updated (in a 90-day trial), and I uninstalled McAfee completely (regular uninstall and Removal Tool provided by McAfee).

Backup fails with an error of device 0 x 807812. I tried a disk of 1 TB of my book and a Seagate 1 TB Western Digital. Both failed with the same error. The system says that I have the most recent and correct drivers. My computer is Deel Latitude 17r.

    Hi James,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

The error would have occurred if the services associated with Windows backup may have been disabled, you can try to restart the service, follow the steps below:

    1. click on start.

2 type Services in the start search.

    3. in the search for Windows Services of shadow copy Volume in the list.

    4. right click on the Service.

    5. click on properties.

    6. Select the Startup Type to manual.

    7. click on OK.

    8. repeat the same for the service Windows backup.

If the problem persists, then I suggest you run the chkdsk command, which fix chkdsk errors, follow these steps:

    i. Click Start.

II. type cmd in the start search box.

III. right-click on cmd.exe list programs and then select the run as Administrator option.

IV. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    v. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk /R

VI. o press when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

VII. close all applications and restart the computer.

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost

When you restart, Windows checks the drive for errors, and then Windows starts. Now run the disk check in command prompt, follow the steps below:

Now, when you try to perform the backup, I recommend that you can try to disable the temporary security on the computer software and perform a backup, be sure to activate security in the computer software.

    Disable the antivirus software:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
