System dual-boot programs wrong volume.

My system: MacPro3, 1 - dual-booting with Snow Leopard and Yosemite.

Having Photoshop installed on the two volumes, but work especially in the snow, Wacom has failed to make a control panel operation Intuos for my tablet that works in Yosemite.

Not great, but a few days ago, snow leopard threw a wobbler on me and decided to launch PSCS3 installation of Yosemite, which means that it does not launch when I right click on a file and choose 'open with '. I'm told it's been moved and need to be repaired. Super frustrating.

What is the preference I have mix - Finder preferences? -in order to get the leopard snow to see it's own programs installed, instead of it can use on Yosemite.

Thank you

Deb.

The first thing I would try is to make a nice with and change the default application for a snow leopard. I would just try.

Do you Yeosemite hd mounted when you're in snow leopard.  You might disassemble the drive, you don't need.

Let me know, I got a script for this at some point.

What is the purpose of the BOOTSECT. BACK file on a system dual boot?

    Hi Clyde,

What is the operating system installed on your computer?

Bootsect.DOS is the boot sector loaded by NTLDR charge BACK, or if there is no file not specified when an operating system is not NT-based loading. When your computer is configured to dual boot in Windows NT version 4.0 and another operating system, it uses a hidden file called Bootsect.dos to boot into the no Windows NT operating system. If the Bootsect.dos file is damaged or is missing from the root of the C drive, you receive this error. Bootsect.DOS is created by the installation of Windows NT. The boot sector in sector 0 of the C drive is copied in Bootsect.dos until the installation program writes the Windows NT boot sector. (Setup will not overwrite an existing Bootsect.dos.) If you choose a previous operating system, Windows NT runs Bootsect.dos, simulating the normal procedure to start the previous operating system. Because the information contained in Bootsect.dos is really created by the previous operating system, it is very difficult to re - create.

  • Satellite L300D-200 - I can do a system dual boot?

    Hello

My toshiba satellite OS is Windows Vista Home premium.
Does anyone know if the satellite L300D can have a dual boot of Windows Vista home premium and the Linux operating system?

    Hello

Why it shouldn't be possible to make a system dual boot?

You can install a Linux distro without problem. What distribution do you want to install? If you want Ubuntu I can recommend the Wubi Installer. This tool is very easy to use because it installs Ubuntu as a Windows application.
But of course you can also use another Linux distribution ;)

Last but not least, let me give you a tip: before installing something, make sure you already burned the Toshiba recovery disc. If a problem occurs, you can restore the factory settings every time.

    Good bye

  • Update from XP to 7 Professional can - system dual boot - I uninstall XP?

I upgraded from XP to 7 Professional by installing 7 on a new hard drive.  This gave me a system dual boot, which I don't want.  I want to remove the old hard drive on my computer and only start and use 7.  I can do this now?  I activated Windows 7.

    Hello Graeme6330,

Finally home. This method should work.

    Download EasyBCD

Enter a name of true/false and or e-mail however take note that if leave you it empty, you will NOT get the download link. EasyBCD allows to change and modify the Windows Boot Configuration data.

    http://NeoSmart.NET/Download.php?id=1

Once you have downloaded it, run it.

Choose language > recognize non-commercial usage > presented with the utility.

Click backup/repair BCD, and then click the change boot drive > take Action > select the drive on which Windows 7 is on > BCD allow to make the required changes.

    After that, click [display settings]

    It should appear as follows:

There are a total of 2 references in the bootstrapper.
    Path: C: \BOOT\BCD
        * where C here represent YOUR primary disk/partition of Windows 7

    Default: Windows 7
    Timeout: 5 seconds
    EasyBCD Boot Device: C:\

    Entry #1
    Name: Windows 7
    BCD ID: {default}
    Drive: C:\
    Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

After that, remove your hard drive Windows XP and start your (New) hard drive of Windows 7.

Please let me know how it goes :) If at any time you don't feel capable following this steps or require clarification let me know.

  • Can I install windows 8 on a system dual boot (XP, 7) and keep the dual boot (XP)?

Can I install windows 8 pro update on a system dual boot (XP, 7 ongoing) replacing of windows 7, but keep the dual boot ability so that I can run the XP apps that only seem to work on XP?

Can I install windows 8 pro update on a system dual boot (XP, 7 ongoing) replacing of windows 7, but keep the dual boot ability so that I can run the XP apps that only seem to work on XP?

Yes, you can use the installation of Windows 7 to qualify for the upgrade to Windows 8.

You can then install Windows 8 on Windows 7 partition and dual boot with XP.

For reference - if the computer had installed XP you could not dual boot with the help of an upgrade of Windows 8.

In addition, to back up important data before installing a new operating system is recommended.

  • is it possible and safe to open the registry of Windows 98 into XP RegEdit on a system dual boot?

I have reinstall some stuff on the side of a system XP dual boot, I found the instructions to transfer the configuration to a new machine, and these instructions include export the registry keys to a .reg file. Is there a way I can save myself a few reboots if I find more like that and you open the registry of Windows 98 on drive C with Regedit in XP?

If necessary, I can easily access the regedit win98 since Windows 98 program is on drive C and XP on the D. I don't want to corrupt the registry win98se, if I try to open it under XP.

    The procedure would be

Open the registry of Windows 98SE.
Export the key to a .reg file
    Close the damper of win98.
copy the key in the .reg file in the registry of xp in the normal way.

    SlickRCBD salvation,

Unfortunately you cannot open regedit (registry editor) for the operating system Windows 98 to computer of Windows XP that you will not be able to access the same. You must start the operating system to access its registry settings.

Note: Microsoft does not have the responsibility to transfer the registry settings of the operating system to another. Op can do on its own risk.

  • Qosmio X 300 - 14U - how to make a system dual boot?

Hello to all Toshiba X 300 users!

I recently bought X 300 14U and I try to load XP as a dual boot. I used floppy, I did everything in my power to dual boot.

Please could someone help? I checked the forum to see how to do, but it keeps on saying the same thing I've done.

I tried to ask Toshiba what chipset it uses, but they are just guessing.
Could some please point in the right direction which eat store I need?
What processor and SATA drivers I need a way to apply these to make a successful dual boot with XP Pro SP2?
I have Vista Home premium installed.

I did as much as I do.
I even tried to run virtual pc but Vista home Premium does not support.

    Than k you much

    Hello!

Before installing Windows XP, you need the SATA drivers, because I think your cell phone works in AHCI mode.
The drivers for it are in the Intel Storage Manager package and you can find it on the Intel Web site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/

On the site of Toshiba, you can t find the drivers for Windows XP. For the Qosmio X 300 are only available Windows Vista drivers and so needs to seek other pilot sites.
    For example:

  • Satellite L305-S5939 - Dual boot with Linux

I recently bought the notebook title mentioned for my studies in computer programming that will require me to dual boot with Linux.
I decided to use Ubuntu and their instructions for upward the dual boot parameters are simple.

However, I heard from people having problems with the settings of the BIOS on other brands when said is finished.
Before I embark on this journey, I want to just make sure that everything is set to avoid problems.

Unfortunately, I have not found much information about Dual boot with Linux and Toshiba L305s.
Other than the basic principles of what I need to do before installing?

I think that a dual boot on the Satellite L305 should not be a problem because you can do it on every laptop or PC.
