joserd,
If it's a driver update, I suggest that you check with the manufacturer of hardware and download the drivers updated directly from them.  If you are able to update the driver then the version of Windows Update may not be be offered more.

  • Cannot use restoration system or Windows updates: 80070017 error?

I want to do a system restore because my system has encountered serious problems.

But when you try to restore fails and I get the error message: "data error (cyclic redundancy check). (0 x 80070017) »

I also won the same "80070017" error code when I try to install the updates using Windows Update utility!

A little research told me that it may be corrupt or missing files on my, so I run chkdsk.exe and scheduled a restart it control and repair.

Chkdsk.exe ran on starting and from what I remember there were replaced for some reason files any.  However, it took a long time so I left during the night and woke up to find my loan to connect system. I'm not entirely sure of what were the errors it and whether or not they have corrected!

So I ran sfc/scannow and these are the results: abbreviated errors - complete (.txt files)

Needless to say what these two did not help.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get system restore to work that would be great!

    Thanks, Rich.

Well, the Diagnostic tests showed a pass on my HDD without any problem when I ran origanally.  So I decided just to do a reinstall of Windows that I wasn't getting any case with the restoration.  But I couldn't do that, that failed too!  Another error code to add to the collection

In the end I had to use Dban to completely erase the disk as it seemed the only choice, Dban found no errors of disc during this process either.

After said and done, it looks now my drive has bad sectors on it, during the installation of Windows, he warned me my disk was not and the WD Diagnostic tests also shows a failure with number of sector transferred, value - 132, 140 threshold, worst - 132.

Guess it's time again to HD.

    Thanks for your help!

  • "Error loading operating system" after windows update

I have an ASUS EeePc netbook model: 1005PEB. Last night before going to bed, I stopped the netbook and it has begun to install and configure windows was last updated. I left on the office do its thing and went to bed. This morning, I got the netbook and it went out of the car and it turned on while I was about to leave the House (before ask you, no I ' was not flying). He started installing all the updates that it had installed the night before. It has gotten to the point where it installed the last element and hung up there. I leave a this screen for 45 minutes and nothing has changed. I went against my better judgment and off the netbook. When I went immediately to turn it back on all I get is "error loading operating system". I tried to use F8 to try to start it in safe mode and I can always access the BIOS. How do I get this service still? I don't have really any data here, I'm too preoccupied. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

  • Calls, by a representative of the system of Windows Update?

I received a call from a man by the name of James, who claims to be a representative of windows update system. It said my email had been hacked by Ashley King and that people receive a lot of spam to me. He said that I had to go on my computer immediately and allow him to correct this problem. I asked for her phone number... 800-630-0583. He is not my email addresses, but claimed to have my IP address. Is this a problem? I'm sure it was a scam. I don't give him no information and it was very demanding. He told me to go to my computer and turn it on. My computer was already, but I hung up. Please advise me on this. Is my computer safe? Thank you.

    Hello

I completely agree with your actions. It was definitely a scam designed to trick you into revealing personal information, such as your email address. What he did probably was trolling the internet and came across your computer, "in the wild". Once a computer is, the IP address is automatically called.

As long as you are protected by a robust inbound and outbound firewall and antivirus / antimalware you are reasonably safe. I use PrivateFirewall from Privacyware as my firewall. It also offers a protection anti-phishing and antikeylogging as well. It is freeware. See here for more information: http://privacyware.com/personal_firewall.html .

I would like to know if this helps you or if you need more specific information about something...

  • I'm getting 'Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of restoration' by updating windows.

It was the first time that I am trying to update my laptop of Lenovo G500s which is come with 8 windows pre installed, before installing the updates, I have restored the laptop if you default factory using Lenovo a recovery key. While the updates are being installed I received a message 'Fail configuration Windows updates reverting changes'. It lasted for an hour. When I tried to install updates again the same message appeared. My laptop came pre-installed with Nitro Pdf 8 and Mcafee Internet Security, so I have even uninstalled them, I also ran Mcafee Consumer Product Removal Tool. But the problem with windows update remained. I then ran the convenience store update Windows that sets these two problems:

fix windows update fixed the database and repair misconfigured update windows components, but this solves nothing. Later I discovered that although the resolution of update problems show that the problems have been solved but convenience store running immediately shows again the same problems.

So this time I ran again the recovery system, and immediately after the system recovery windows update of convenience store that showed the problems mentioned above two updates of windows.

Is it so that means the recovery partition itself contains other problems that my problem would have been solved, what do I do to fix this?

Below the discussion with me and the microsoft support on the problem to my laptop.
What can I do next? Thank you very much.

    Hi Jon,

Thank you for your response and delayed apology.
After that I will review the outcome of the System File Checker, it shows that there are corrupted files in impossible to remedy Windows and Windows system files. So the next step is no choice for the repair of Windows and if you have a computer of OEM manufacturer I'm afraid that you do not have to have.

You should ask the manufacturer of your computer to this Windows repair. If they're going to ask you to make a Windows Recovery please backup all your important files, as he'll recover your computer originally manufacture settings.
    Thank you for your cooperation.

You can install the latest version of each update. But make sure that you install only two updates

Some updates apply to files or services that Windows uses. These types of updates can't be installed while Windows is running so you should save your work, close all open programs, and then restart your computer to complete the update process.
