System icons missing in the taskbar

On my laptop, next to which the time is specified, must be 3 different icons. Volume, network and power. I don't know what happened, but these icons are now gone. I went in the taskbar and Start Menu properties to get them back, but under the system icons, the only selectable icon is time. The other three are grayed out and I can't click on it.

What happened to my computer? and how to fix it?

Hello G0lDchymera,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum

Activate the system via Local Group Policy Editor icons

  1. Run GPedit.msc to start local Group Policy Editor.
  2. Expand the tree and access Configuration user-> templates-> Start Menu and taskbar to administration.
  3. Change the status value the value to Disable or not configured for the following group policies allow the display or the display of the icon in the notification area.

Clock: Remove clock from the system notification area
Volume: Remove the volume control icon
Network: Remove the network icon
Power (battery) icon: remove the battery meter

  1. Close the local Group Policy Editor.
  2. Restart Explorer, Log off and log back or restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

If the step above does not work, then I have another option below in the form of an article that also offers a fix for this problem.

After that I restarted my antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials icon is missing from the taskbar. It also happened when I have ESET NOD32 installed. When I disable the SSDP Discovery Service, in the section of the Admin, it will appear. But when I go back and set it to automatic, it will still be absent.

For all that is you probably not need to have running SSDP Discovery Service, for security reasons almost always disable this service on any system that I put in place.
