    Hi @Nikunjkacha,

    Thank you for your query.

I take that you upgraded to Windows 10 and deleted the UEFI system disk partition. You have your recovery media and we will do a factory reset. If, after completing the reset factory, if the partition is not listed, here is a link to the HP Notebook PC - hardware failures (10, 8 Windows) screening, which will help you to install the latest version of diagnostics UEFI.

    Hi sjjss3463,

Your swap file is not stored on the system partition, so I wouldn't worry about it. Personally I wouldn't worry about the almost 100% of the partition of the system either!

  • System partitions and upgrade to Windows 7, Linux

Yesterday, I bought my first CV - ProBook 4515 s model with SLED 11 Linux preinstaled. Given that I'm not familiar with Linux systems first thing I did was to install Windows 7.

My laptop came with 4 partitions that is formatted in a file system that Windows does not recognize. I'm guessing a partition for installing Linux, two of them are system (HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY) partitions and the fourth was just an empty disk. So I formatted the fourth partition and installed Windows 7.

The problem is now that I am out of system partitions, so can not access other software preinstaled and QuickLook. I tried a single partition format and rename it to HP_TOOLS and then tried to install QuickLook v. 3 but the facility reported that my system has not been supported? I don't want to mess with the other partitions in the fear that I could remove the BIOS, but want to sort this mess up and would certainly like to have some of the options that is is installed with the system.

    Any suggestions?

Message edited by Martine on 14/10/2009 14:07

I think that the HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY partitions are formatted as ext2 or ext3 file system, Windows cannot read. It can only read NTFS and FAT32. There is no way I can think to convert the ext2\3 to NTFS without keeping the integrity of the system. In addition, the files are all intended for linux and not Windows. He has makes no sense to do that. That said, I'm not sure if your laptop has Windows 7 drivers now.

  • Satellite P200-1JR: display becomes suddenly empty only restart helps.

    Hello

I have laptop Toshiba P200-1JR, and I am satisfied with the performance.

Unfortunately, I have experienced a few problems for which I'm not sure if they are material (manufacturing) or a driver problem (software).

1 display sometimes (maybe once a week) becomes suddenly empty. Nothing special was did not previously, which should be the trigger. Just the time. Only restart helps.
2 same as 1, but already show just goes crazy for a few second. A few lines aside (as the magnetic interruptions) are on the screen.

I just downloaded a bunch of driver updates (have not applied the yet), but I want to ask is this already known issue?

    Best regards
    Vladimir Stefanovic

    > The screen started flashing uncontrolled for about 15 seconds, then it becomes totally blank.

If the display driver and BIOS update help didn t I would recommend checking the laptop in ASP in your country
Something like this may seem very strange, or it s a hardware problem

    Good luck

  • names of system partition

Can I reverse the sheet music for a clean install so that the partition/drive c:\ is NOT the system partition. On my Vaio, it is the partition musette and as everything by default installs on the C:\ drive, it has caused many space issues in spite of the process of installing programs on disk D:\. This is how the machine and it's very frustrating. None of my other computers have never been set up this way.

If you you reinstall windows on some of the recoveries, there will be an option to change the size of the C: drive. Otherwise you can specify the programs to be installed on the D: drive. Or use a 3rd party partitioning program to change the size or combine the partitions.

  • Put into hibernation - insufficient system resources exist to complete the API (Tecra M4)

I just thought I'd pass on my experience with this problem.

I recently updated my Tecra M4 2 GB of RAM memory. Everything was fine except everyonce in a while he would not hibernate. However, it would suspend to RAM (standby). It seemed to happen after the antivirus software has managed to (which I had changed at the same time). I studied this way, but it also happened if I had a lot of programs running. So, a quick google search revealed why almost all laptops come with only 512 MB of RAM.

There is a problem with Windows, freeing the memory in a way that allows it to be written to the hard disk, preventing the hibernation and to create the very vague error message "insufficient system resources exist to complete the API".

The solution is to contact Microsoft by phone and ask them for the fix for the #909095 of the Knowledge Base article. The fix is free but the MS site makes it seem as if you have to pay £200 to contact Ms support

This seems to have solved my problem!
    Hooray!

This is the Knowledge Base article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=909095

Here's the Blog I found the solution on:
    http://www.ntwizards.NET/2004/10/13/Hibernate
Of course, the only problem with contacting MS support is that I received a LOT of phone calls asking me what I thought of their support... it was very good, so I don't really mind, but I find it funny that I continue to have called and asked the same questions!

  • Splitting the system partition?

    Hello

I have two physical hard drives. Currently, each disk has a basic partition. The first detected disk has the C partition and the second disc has the partition (E) Windows XP is installed on E.

When I opened the disk management software, I realized the C partition is marked as a system partition and I can't remove it.

You need third party software. There are several choices, such as Partition Magic.

  • CHKDSK runs 5 steps for the system, 3 for the non-system partition partition

Would be - to schedule chkdsk for the partition system using GUI by selecting two options available here
It executes all 5 steps of verification of system files and disk.
Would be - to plan an analysis of the non-system partition disk by setting the dirty bit (fsutil dirty) put...
It runs only 3 floors of disk scan.

    Whence this difference?

Fsutil allows you to set the 'dirty' bit for a NTFS disk, autochk performs an immediate chkdsk /f on that volume.  When the F switch is set, the activity of chkdsk is divided into three major passes: checking files, checking the index and security descriptors.

If you use the R (chkdsk/r) switch, chkdsk performs twice more to look for bad sectors. During step 4, chkdsk checks all clusters in use; during step 5, chkdsk checks the unused beams.

Given that you used the GUI instead of enter the chkdsk command in a command prompt window or in the run box, you must have checked the two boxes that appear under "to check disk options'-' automatically fix file system errors" and "will search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.»

Most of the time, one is not using the R switch or check the box to recover data from bad sectors because it can take a lot of time and (b) "recovered data" are usually not easily usable.
