> I just want to add the disk says starting windows 98, but said of the sticker on the Windows XP-based computer
It's nothing unusual, even if you get this message that Win XP has been on the recovery disk the message appears because load picture ghost Toshiba files.

But back to the reason why the recovery procedure fails.
To be honest I m not very well why the recovery procedure can be completed.
But I suppose there might be something wrong with the HARD drive or partitions on the HARD disk.

Try to boot from the CD of Microsoft Win XP and format the entire HARD drive.
Then try to boot from disk Toshiba again and the devil if you could install XP.

  • Recovery of my Satellite A30 303

    Hello

    My Satellite A30 303 needs to be recovered that XP is constantly hooked and crashing and I would also be able to create a partition with a distro of linux on it, but the problem is that the DVD - RAM drive no longer works, and I was using a DVD-RAM external for awhile drive LG GSA - 2166D to read and write CDs , but I can't get the laptop to start this device as it is USB. Is it possible to boot from this device, or is it an another workaround?

    A big thank you to anyone who can help me.

    Hello

    Don t waste time and start don t try from the external USB CD/DVD drive.
    It's just not possible!

    The BIOS does not support a boot from the USB WEIRD. The BIOS supports disk HARD, the ODD, the LAN and USB FDD as devices bootable but not CD/DVD USB drive.

    You have no other choice as to buy a compatible CD player and internal support.

    Of course, you can try to boot from LAN, but it's not very easy and you will need to configure a RIS server.

  • Recovery failed on Satellite P200

    Hello.

    At the beginning I wanted to install WinXP on a Satellite P200 but then I read many things on the internet and which might be more difficult than I first thought.

    Now, I only get it back with the RecoveryCD came with the laptop.

    It s my cousin's laptop. It of a little slow and has a lot of garbage on this matter, we decided to update the system.
    But the Toshiba Recovery says:

    + Cheking HDD1 +.
    + HDD1 found! +
    + BIOS 0 is disk 0 +.
    + BIOS 1 is disc +.
    + ERROR: GETHDD get physical disk HARD failed! +

    So I press a key, it says:

    + Continue... +.

    I'm not able to recover, but I have no idea why. I also Don t want to delete everything before making the recovery, cause I m afraid that nothing will work after that.
    Notepad starts in Vista, but it is slow, as I have said before. Is there a chance the recovery work?

    The CD is very good and has never used it before and it is also the original.

    Thank you much for the help.

    EDIT:
    I forgot to say, I followed the instructions on the CD case. I restarted the computer and you press F12, and then I chose the DVD drive and then start the CD. But I have not tried on the running system of Vista, because everywhere I read it wrong.

    Hello

    I read your ad three times over but now I m a bit confused

    If you want to return to factory settings, you must only start since the Toshiba recovery disc. Before the disc begins to install the new OS the whole HARD disk will be wiped so before recovery you can install everything, also Linux, Vista or something else because it will be deleted.

    So please follow the instructions on the CD case you have posted. I put t know where read you that isn't true, but in fact the drive erases the HARD disk and installs a new OS.

    If you have any other questions, please let us know.

  • HDD Recovery Fail on Satellite L300 Vista

    I'm arrogant and not install virus protection software and eventually get drowned in the spyware rather than go through the hassle of trying to remove each of them so that they slow down the computer to a halt, I decided to restore the factory State.

    It seems easy, but now after the first part (a command window with a percentage) he told me that he had no HARD drive recovery.
    What can I do now that I can't use my computer, I don't have a Vista disc because Toshiba has asserted that I could recover from the hard drive I could use XP if there is no quick fix I have a drive for this, but how easy is it to find and install all the drivers, incidentally It's a Satellite L300.

    I have no idea why the recovery partition does not work that way, while the guys do you recommend I do?

    Thanks, man.

    > It seems easy, but now after the first part (a command window with a percentage) he told me that he had no HARD drive recovery. What can I do now that I can't use my computer, I don't have a Vista disc

    Have you tried to start the HARD drive recovery?
    Simply press the F8 key after laptop powered upwards and choose fix my computer.

    Usually, this will help you start the recovery disk again.

    If this is not possible then you will not be able to recover the laptop without the Toshiba recovery disc.
    He really stupid situation if you didn't create the recovery disk before this problem happened :(

  • G71 340US system recovery fails

    One of my friends brought a G71-340US to me which was purchased at a pawn shop.  There was no password for a reload information was in order.  Software recovery was purchased which was a two disc picture refill set and a third CD containing the drivers and utilities.  Recharging began and I chose the path of destructive factory picture.  Recharge seemed to continue as expected using the first CD of the game.  When you are prompted to insert the second CD, the laptop has never recognized the insertion of the second CD.  The button 'Next' of radio would never go bold or respond to mouse clicks.  I just turned off and restarted.  The HARD disk starts but came in what appeared to be a bunch of batch and then reboot again.  This loop has days.  I started above zero. I tried to insert the incorrect CD, utilities and drivers one, when #2 CD was requested.  The process has been able to tell me that I inserted the wrong disk.  I then put in the right disc and it is same thing.

    I'm sure that the HARD drive is OK.  I could get on my XP box and do tests, everything looked good.  I saw two partitions and erased.  So not destructive and destructive tests passed with flying colors.  Put the HARD drive backin the laptop and tried to load a copy retail of Windows 8 and all went well except that I don't want to give this license.  Tried the result once again even refill HP media.  All I can assume is that number 2 CD is bad.  What do you think?

    It sounds as if the second cd/dvd is defective. I would like to ask for a replacement.

    `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
    If you can read the Microsoft Windows 7 of 25-character license key attached to the bottom of your laptop, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD, the version must match that on the sticker COST Microsoft.
  • Slow performance on Satellite A30 HARD drive
    Hello
    Recovery of my Satellite A30 CDs become damaged so I acquired a full oem version of XP Home and installed after activation etc, I installed the drivers provided by the tools and utilities CDROM, but after installation the HDD is really slow, it takes 15 minutes to start and has a time, there is nothing wrong with the hard drive that I placed in a casing external and tested , and he turned to normal speed etc.
    Does anyone have an idea about this problem? #
    Thank you
    Ewan
    Hello Ewan
    It is not easy to say what the problem is here. Are you sure that the HARD drive is OK 100%. I recommend you scan the HARD drive and see if there may be some bad sectors. I had a similar situation with my old 1800 satellite. In the beginning, everything is ok, but with more content and more on the drive HARD, HARD drive was slower and slower.
    15 minutes to boot after installation of clean operating system is really strange.
  • Satellite A30 - where and how to order the recovery disk
    Hello
    I have a Satellite A30 range and I'm about to install a new hard drive but I don't have the original recovery disk. I told myself I can are no longer met this Toshiba directly so I wonder if someone can direct me looking for a replacement of original or copy.
    I Googled it but it is difficult to sift through to find the exact one I'm looking for.
    Thank you
    Hmm. I thought you can order the recovery CD Toshiba of the ASP in your country but if the series of laptop it is too old it would not be possible.
    However, you can also install the Windows operating system by using the Microsoft CD and then you could install the driver of Toshiba of the Toshiba driver page.
    XP driver should be placed in the box ARCHVE.
  • Satellite A30: HDD size after the recovery procedure and Defrag
    I have a Satellite A30 and just did a complete reinstall from the recovery of the product disks. My question relates to the amount of disk space hard should be resumed aftre reinstall it.
    My hard drive is 4.95 full GB according to the procedure that is much higher than I expected.
    Also, after reviewing the reader with Defragmenter I seem to have twice taken up training with Greens, unmovable files like Blue contiguous files. Unmovable files is there and if not how to I remove them?
    It's where I guess that extra hard disk space is lost when it is lost?
    Thank you
    Hello
    It's not easy to say exactly how much space should be taken after the recovery procedure.
    I have so much that I know on the recovery CD, you will find the whole operating system Windows XP, driver Toshiba and utilities as well as additional software like OneNote, WinDVD, etc.
    This additional software could take as much space on the disk outside the OS.
    Blue not moveable files belong to the Windows operating system, and as a result, the files are placed together.
    I have a Satellite A30 and when I start it it displays the system32\config\system error message
    He also says I can try to repair it by starting the original windows using the installation CD installation program.
    Problem is that I don't have any CD or recovery discs that I bought the laptop on ebay 2 years ago
    While the options of do I have that I don't really want to spend the money, put it in repair... the credit crunch and all that!
    Thank you
    Hello
    Hmm I doubt that you can solve this problem without going through any system windows disk or recovery disk.
    It seems that the installed OS is messed up and you last chance would be a new installation of the OS on the MS Windows CD or Toshiba recovery disc.
    I have bad news boyfriend. The message missing operating system means that the laptop can not find the operating system on the HARD drive. And do you know why the laptop can not find the OS (operating system)?
    Because the HARD drive is DEAD!
    I had the same behavior, 2 years ago. My 4 year old HARD drive was dead. It was an accident of the head and I lost all my files :(
    But fortunately, I created backups on CD so I could restore my photos and my mp3.
