  Running Windows Vista Home Edition with SP 1 and SP 2.   All Windows updates are automatic until almost a month ago.

  Microsoft Security Essentials auto updates, scheduled full scans.  Scanned for malware and some found and removed.
  All MS site suggested I have try, I tried.  Fix, it doesn't do a thing.

  I ordered the HP recovery discs as F11 will not work. I got 4 disks with one separated from the others. He said "use this first!   I bought a HP with W98 OEM desktop computer installed about 10 years ago. Then about 5 years ago my company offers an XP Pro upgrade for a good price. When I upgraded, first of all, I reformatted the drive, but then XP would be not be installed because it could not find existing W98.  So I reinstalled W98 using the HP cd "HP System Recovery" & "HP Application Recovery", then with the XP Pro upgrade.  Question: I want to build a new computer for faster components (case, CPU, motherboard, hard drive) 10 years old HP processor is suffocating under the weight of applications & today virus scanners.  On a new cpu & hard drive, I can use the "HP System Recovery' (&"Application recovery"if necessary) to repeat the process to get W98 installation so that I can then proceed to Windows XP Pro?  Or is the only "HP System Recovery" will install on a card mother HP and W98 vintage cpu?  I just can't justify rebuying the entire operating system again and I like XP Pro, but I need new hardware CPU and more/more fast disk drive.

  Thanks for posting. As you said, you will need to install the 98 upgrade for XP. As for the installation of 98 on another machine, it may or may not work. You will need to contact HP and see if this is or is not against the terms of the EULA, they you provided, and if you can or can not install it on another machine.

• System Recovery DVD 1 and 2

  My system; HP G series windows 7 64 bit. Hard drive crashed, bought a new, but needed the system recovery dvd.

After the release of Firefox for 23.0.1 I lost all my history and Firefox keeps only the websites visited once the new version has been installed. My favorites were selected. I tried to get back in "Import and backup", but it goes back only to the date of the new facility. I tried places.sqlite "Roaming", but there is only one with the current date. Is there a way to recover the lost history? Why Firefox was losing it? It's going to happen averytime that updates Firefox?

  Manually back up your bookmarks. If you have used the 'import', you have already lost some information by overwriting. As a matter of course you should always save current bookmarks manually before using any restorations.

  • Restore backup bookmarks or move them to another computer

  This way you can make sure you are able to restore the current set. Your backup .json file put a safe off-trail program or Firefox profile. The desktop of Windows or the removable media would be appropriate.

  Firefox creates a bookmark, but does nothing about backup history. Fortunately Windows probably backup previous versions of your files places.sqlite and this is the database with the history and bookmarks in it. See if you can recover a recent version of this, it will restore your story up to the date of the restored file.

  Looks like you might already have instructions to perform the recovery, but I though that I would like to send you the link just to be safe.  Please make sure that you follow all instructions exactly as shown.  Also, the recovery may seem like it is suspended, but it is actually still being run.  I suggest that you expect and that you give enough time 3-4 hrs min to finish.

  You must boot from the recovery disks. Specify the first condition in the drive and reboot the laptop. Press the ESC key immediately after switching on. Then press F9 boot options, and select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

  I recommend the creation of an image with the free trial of 30 days of Acronis or free Edition of WD/Seagate, which can be used if you have a WD/Seagate internal hard drive or external. See section 3 of the Guide to reinstall Windows:

  This will give you a backup copy of your system in its current configuration. Once the trial will expire, you can save your system using the Acronis bootable recovery media and don't have so no need to buy the version complete to recover your system. Versions of WD/Seagate will work providing one of their hard drive is detected connected to your system internally or externally, and they are not trial versions.

  Many others have experienced problems with Dell DataSafe and resolved by uninstalling Dell backup and restore. reboot and then install the latest version here: http://www.dellbackupandrecovery.com/en-us/Index.html in addition to update their system BIOS if a BIOS update is available. When you create a recovery with DataSafe media I would recommend the use of a key USB and not DVD DVDs. Multiple are burned using the program and its common for 1 or more of these DVDs to burn incorrectly for flash USB stick method works better.
