System repair disc does not work in repairing, it comes back indicating that the version of ERD is not compatible.

Hello

So tonight, I created an image of the system as I upgrade my hard drive then created a system repair disc and when I boot from the CD, it comes back indicating that the version of this repair disc is not compatible with windows installed even if the original drive has been deleted?

Running Win7 Pro, SP1 new drive is a WD Black edition.

Now!  I must inform you that I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 earlier this week and when it starts, he returned with an error xoxox and returned to Win7 but not the point of restoration I created before moving to 10 and the only way that I get using my system repair disc/image I created a week earlier weird!

But this should not affect my image and the disc I created tonight, correct?

Thanks for the help

I have not installed Norton bloatware.  The easiest methods for backup are discussed in clean reinstall Windows Upgrade 10.

    Hi James,

Ø are you using the correct version of the Vista disc to run Startup Repair?

    B. restart your computer.

    C. Si you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.

    D. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

  • Re: Satellite L300 - made recovery but disc does not work

I have a Satellite L300 and did a few sets of recovery discs from what I read some brands work and some don't, and none have so far.

Insert Diskette 1, press the button and hold F12 key until the startup option appears.
Select CD/DVD and then back type box appears with X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe - startnet.cmd
and in the box waiting for ODD vacancies...

You can add several points after that as nothing is more - so three sets of recovery disks on three different brands of DVD any advice would be pleaseing!

    Brian

    Hello

According to your description, the system restore procedure does not start, and the STRANGE can not read the disc.

In your case I would recommend recover laptop using Toshiba HDD recovery.
You can start the procedure of HARD drive; Press F8, choose repair my computer, Toshiba HDD recovery.
Now the system restore should products

After the laptop has been set to factory settings, check to see if there is an update of firmware for this CURIOUS (CD/DVD drive). If yes-> update the firmware.
I know you tried three different brands of DVD but you should always try to create a recovery disk using another DVD disc I m using TDK DVD-R and had good experience with it. One of my friends uses Verbatim DVD-R and never had problems

  • the system recovery media does not support this computer

I have a HP G7-1365DX and the hard drive (750 GB) is a failure.  I did a recovery file on a USB key from the recovery partition and then replaced the hard drive with a 120 GB SSD.  When I tried to reinstall the USB system, I get the message "the system recovery media does not support this computer."  Is it because the hard drive was replaced by a SSD?  How to restore the system if the recovery disk does not work?

    Hello

You are right about the source of this problem - HP recovery media often has problems of restoring the operating system on a smaller disk in quality than appeared on.

There are a few options available.

    1. if the 750 GB drive is still able to operate, use your recovery media to perform a factory reset and then use software (or Windows 7 own imaging utility) for this clone of your SSD.

2 create your own recovery media to use to run the installation - it would be my personal preference.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • System - F10 recovery does not

    Hello.

I tried to fix a HP Media Center M7380.

The XP operating system was damaged during an update of the operating system, it could not start and has been reset permanently.

At first, I was able to access Recovery Center through F10, but didn't try it until I got a decent backup of the data on the disk.

Now that I managed to backup of the C: drive, the F10 boot option no longer works, it shows just a black screen.

The HP Recovery partition is intact, how to create a recovery disc without the installed XP and without the F10 at startup?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Dave...

I SOLVED THE PROBLEM, recovery is much better than I hoped.  I will update this thread in hopes that I can be useful to someone else.

I tried many suggestions provided by the HP site, Google, "10 things to do when Windows XP does not start" et al., without any hope of success.

With the help of the "Hirens boot disk" I finally discovered that some vital XP files were missing from Windows.  I think that the owner of the computer (a friend) may have attempted to install the software or update the system when it crashed, but I don't have the details of exactly what has been done.

-The PC would not boot in any mode.

-The recovery disk provided was for a completely different PC and a different version of windows

-J' tried to start the recovery console from another drive to install XP, but the recovery was not a permitted option

After careful consideration and several other solutions attempted, the following managed.

1 - use the Hirens boot disk to start MiniXP.

    2 - Open a command line.

    3. type C:

    -Press enter

    4 - Type cd windows

    -Press enter

5 - type "CD Creator.exe" that must be typed with the quotes and space

    -Press enter

At this point, that an application window for recovery disc creator appeared, option buttons are strangely absent, but I used the key entry instead.

I was prompted to select 11 CDs or 2 DVDs, I went for 2 DVD

Two hours (approximately) later I had the necessary recovery discs

I opted for a recovery of the system rather than the Format and reinstall.

    It completed successfully.

I made sure that the version of Norton AV trial provided worked.

I have indication internet, downloaded and installed XP SP3 and all other updates of the system.

User data (photos, documents, etc. was recovered by)

-Rename each individual user folder in "C: Documents and Settings" to (for example) Dave143 to Dave143SAVE

-Creation of the user of the control panel.

-Login under the user to build (Dave143) user folder "C: Documents and settings".

-Restart in safe mode and copy the data from the Dave143SAVE folder folders in the Dave143 folder.

It took me all night for a week, but now I'm happy with the result.  I managed to save several gigabyte of their family photos!

Don't forget, before you try anything at all, your first priority should be the backup of data.

    Good luck!

  • T420 W7 Base system device driver does not

    Hello

After reinstalling W7 the lenovo Solution Center complained by saying that the system device driver does not work.

I saw that the SD card reader was not working and so I covered the missing pilot was that one.

The Lenovo page I downloaded the driver for the card Multi for W7 and T420 port. After installing the message disappeared and SD cards have been recognized correctly.

However, after restarting the system, after some time, the message appeared again and the card reader no longer works.

I have install again and the same happened. He worked and after restarting two has stopped working.

If find this mysterious altogether. I wonder if anyone knows how to solve this problem.

I managed to solve the problem. Just in case anyone has the same problem I explain here how I did, although I'm not sure that this solution is universal.

1 install the drivers from the Lenovo site.

    2. once the system starts to complain from the Device Manager where it says "Base system device" with a question mark. Then disable this device but do not uninstall the driver.

3 reboot and it will be fixed.

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.
