System Restore without a restore mode without failure point

I picked up a nasty virus that will not let me access restore of the system (or anything) in normal mode.  I'm trying to do a restore system in Mode safe (Vista OS).  However, I do not have a previously set retore point.  How can I restore to return to a time before the virus and computer happiness?

You use system restore to get rid of the virus.

Run a full scan with your antivirus software. If you do not...

You can use this free program. It is very effective.
Malwarebytes download link: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ... choose the "free" version

It's not redundant to run another program, just to make sure no viruses remain undetected.
Use this program, STOPzilla: http://www.stopzilla.com/products/stopzilla/home.do for the benefit of other people looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • System Restore op after failure of HARD drive and replacement

    Hello

I have an old laptop dv9000 with XPPro factory installed SP2, since upgraded to SP3. The hard drive failed (Seagate 80Gig). I checked with the test of the bios Setup, he said "fail" and I checked by booting from the windows installation disc CD player. He said, not found hard drive. SO, I bought a disc bytes of more 1 t (same mfr Seagate, same 5400 RPM) and installed. I have a backup network (Seagate Black armor) drive and I was able to restore the last backup. The booted cd drive the recovery disc for this program, the hard drive light blinking and it seemed to be something for 3 hours, then told it was full.

But the new drive does not start. I've read on this forum and of the joint recommendation was to use the system provided with the laptop recovery disks. I dug through the boxes in the garage and have found the system recovery discs and my 14 cd makes system restore. :-) makes to keep unwanted sometimes. But I tried the system recovery disk and it will not start in the cd player. I get a white screen with the cursor in the left flashing top. I went back to try the recovery of Seagate disk, and now it will not start either. I tried to remove the new HARD drive. with or without a cd in the player it displays the message "No Op sysytem found." SO I think that something touched the CDdrive. But it is interesting with the blinking cursor will restart the machine, then perhaps a part of the op system is loaded.

It is an old machine, the old system of the op. I shopped Hp store and only Windows8 available now. SO I am forced either on the cutting edge with all new bugs and learning curve, or I'm trying to get this old lady will machine. Other things I've linked, hard reset, restore the default bios.

Ideas that you may have will be appreciated.

    Hello

The laptop is back running with the new hard drive, Yay! and a new cd player.

Here's what he had to, for anyone who has ever has the same problem:

The CD player was bad. The nearest local supplier on the list for assistance parts hp gave me was a suitable replacement. I installed, and the system restore disc started and ran immediately.  I decided to check and see if the windows install disc would go and restore the sytem since I thought that I had already restored the entire C: partition. He started, but did not find the hard drive. He gave an eror message that does no drive found.  I went to the hp system restore disc and running. It took several hours reformatted the drive (by removing everything I'd put) and rebooted several times. Eventually, he came with a windows desktop computer. This is the factory installed there are over 5 years old. I installed the Seagate backup software and running. He seemed to have more options running in windows he did directly from the boot cd. One of the options was to restore the MBR. I had to find out what it was, Master Boot Record. I thought that it should be restored. The full restoration of the backup process C: took another few hours, but he finished and gave a message of the operation successfully.

Then I rebooted and got windows, connected and got my office logon screen as it was at the time of the backup. Success.

In the future, I'll watch that restore MBR, maybe it's there, and I missed it the first time. I have a slight nagging worry that maybe something else caused both drives to fail almost at the same time. But I'm not going to fuss with it. I hope that the machine works well for a little longer.

Thanks to those who have tried to help.

    Later,.

  • System Restore, deletion of the photo and file rights issues

I had trouble with my phone now for about half a year. Awhile back on downloading a program, my computer began to tell me that I didn't have 'rights' to remove a file, access a folder or even to open a program, when I have full admin on her rights. This problem has persisted, but not as much as he used to.

The following problem was born about two months ago. I noticed that my laptop didn't is more let me restore the system yesterday. The day before the current day was the only day where he had registered under a restore point. My laptop still has this problem. Not only that, but every time I do a system restore it says failure of the resolution.

At the beginning of this year as my C: drive grew low space I created a picture file on my D: drive and transferred all my current photos to the new folder and kept the old one on the C: drive, but deleted all the images in the default image folder. Now tonight, I deleted a program out of my D: dive that was installed a year ago that I no longer use, and after removing the photo on my D: drive folder wiped. There are thousands of images recorded in this issue said. I tried a system restore to recover images, but the restoration of the system, as said before, has failed.

I would appreciate help in how to conquer these questions. There is not much I can do until my images are retrieved, so fast response and the help is even more appreciated.

  • Internet Explorer cannot display the Web page - trying to restore as soon as possible a system restore point

I get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage message on my cell phone.

I can get my desktop to connect to the internet, so it is not an ISP issue.  The laptop can see the router so it's not the question.

I ran the network diagnostic and that did nothing.  I call my ISP helpdesk and they said it was a known issue with Vista after last update.  Therefore, they suggested that I tried to do a system restore to an earlier point.

I tried to do this, but the system comes back and says that he did not work properly and gives an error unspecified as to why it did not work.

Was the ISP Helpdesk right what I try next?

Finally, why is Windows 8 so horribly difficult?

    Hello

Is your Windows 8, a copy retail or OEM (OEM)copy?

As you have already started the system restore and it does not end, the only option you have is to force restart the computer and check if you are able to boot to the desktop. If you are able to boot to the desktop, then check what operating system is installed at present. If you have Windows 8.1, the only option is to perform the refresh.

How to refresh, reset or restore your PC

Note: Applications that you have installed Web sites and DVD is deleted. The applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store will be resettled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.

  • System Restore works only in Mode without failure. Why?

Using Windows 7 Home Premium and can do in only safe mode system restore. In normal mode, the Restore Points are generated without problem.

    Hi JRHoot,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, it seems that you are unable to run the restore of the system in normal mode.

To guide you in the right direction, I need a little more information of the computer with the problem. Please help me answer the following questions:

-You have an error message when running the system restore?

I will certainly help you with this issue.

Here are a few troubleshooting methods that you can try in order to solve the problem.

Method 1: Test the issue of clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Please note: After troubleshooting, be sure to start your computer in normal mode by following these steps.

    a. click on start toreduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press Enter.Collapse this includes this image

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you must type the password or click continue.

    b. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option and then click OK.

    c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

    Method 2:

Check the status of the shadow copy Volume service. If it is, then try to restart the VSS service and check.

    (a) click Start, type services.msc in the start search.

    (b) find the instantaneous volume cliché service.

    (c) make a right click on the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) and select Properties. Check if it is started.

    (d) if it is stopped, select start or restart. Make sure that the service is started and set as Automatic.

    (e) click on apply and OK, if you make changes.

    (f) check the status of the issue.

Method 3: T emporarily disable the security software and verify.

If the system restore works fine after you turn off the anti-virus, you can contact the manufacturer of security software and check if you need to change the settings.

    Disable the antivirus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If the problem persists, or you have questions about Windows, do not hesitate to let us know. It is our pleasure to be of service.

  • How to recover deleted Windows 7 fonts without making a system restore

    Hello

Last summer, I deleted a number of fonts Windows 7 I knew I was never going to use. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted some I really wanted to delete. But I let it pass in time. Now, I wish I had some of those back that I accidentally deleted (for example Baskerville, Californian, Goudy).

I searched the previous discussions on this subject, but none (which this one: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/location-to-download-accidentally-deleted-fonts/b43a8d76-2889-41f2-be0c-9e7c27e2cf30) helped. That the thread is on the removal of thousands of additional fonts, do not restore deleted fonts Windows. And responses here especially suggest more drastic solutions that I want to do (System Restore [that would change too many things I've done since the abolition of the police], reinstalling Windows) or suggest other programs to remove additional fonts and back to default values, which are always present for opus (I have download the Powerpoint Viewer who did indeed) (, restore some of the fonts I lost, but not all of them.)

In any case, my problem is more in line with this thread of a person showing last year. http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-files/location-to-download-accidentally-deleted-fonts/b43a8d76-2889-41F2-be0c-9e7c27e2cf30

This is exactly my problem. Unfortunately, the response of the MVP is very helpful. The site 1001freefonts.com has obviously NO premium fonts in Windows 7/Office 2007! (Wouldn't an MVP already know that?)

But my question is basically the same as the OP is that thread: there is no place where existing OS licensed users go to download the font files and then install themselves?

I mean, if MS is able to verify a valid property of an OS of Windows when running the various updates, why in the name of all that is logical doesn't it not provide a link to re-download deleted Windows fonts for valid users?

So, is there a way to retrieve all of the fonts in Windows 7/Office 2007 without the drastic system restore or OS reinstall often suggested?

Updates on how to deal with this issue? Any other suggestions?

    Thank you!  :-)

There is no short way to reinstall the software that included the fonts or get lucky and find the fonts desired on the web somewhere.  This is a list of fonts that did not exist in Windows 7  Often fonts are installed by applications, so in looking at the list of available fonts is not necessarily tell you where each of them came.
