T3i only focuses automatic in "live-view".

I bought a t3i two years ago and a half years. The last time I tried to use the camera, it wouldn't auto-focus. After reading online, I tried the following:

-remove the battery for more than 10 minutes

-check with another lens

-swtich between AF & MF a few times

The only thing that worked was switchign the camera for "live-view". When in "live-view" the camera is autofocus.

Don't know what my next steps should be - have a great trip in three weeks and would like to have my camera working at this time.

GRSuch

The unit uses another system update in 'live view', and is used when you use the viewfinder.

Your camera has 9 autofocus sensors on the floor of the camera.  You can put the camera in a mode where it uses all 9 areas of focus.  Be aware that if 9 points are on topics of different distances, the point that the camera will choose will be the one with the CLOSEST focusing distance.

Alternatively, you can place the camera in a mode where YOU choose which of the 9 AF points will be used.

Page 85 of your owner's manual you will show how to take a specific point AF or set mode where it uses all the.

These areas of focus will ONLY work if the target has a report f / d of f/5.6 or less.   If you use a lens with a focal length multiplier, you have multiple focal report of the lens by the focal length multiplier factor.  For example a variable zoom f/3.5-5.6 who is zoomed in a little used f/5.6.  Put a teleconverter 1.4 x on this goal and it becomes a target of f/8 (autofocus will NOT work at f/8) or put a 2 x teleconverter on this lens and it becomes a f/11 (auofocus certainly will not work at f/11).  A teleconverter 1.4 x suitable only for f/4 or faster lenses.  A teleconverter 2 x, suitable only for f/2.8 or faster lenses.

Maybe something is blocking certain AF points in your camera.  When is clean?  You can remove the lens, turn it on, use the menus to put in manual sensor cleaning mode.  This will cause the reflex mirror and lift to expose the sensor... but she exposes also the 9 AF sensors on the ground of the camera (you will not see the sensors... you will see only tiny holes/ports in the background and the sensors are hidden under these.)  If you see any dust or debris in there, then it would be a problem.  Just get a hand blower pressed (as a blower of Rocket Giotto... it's the bulb you squeeze with your hand to get the puffs of air) and serve.  Do not use compressed air cans.  They can leave a residue and if you get the residue on the sensors, you have a big problem because you can't them without disassembling the camera.  NO CANNED COMPRESSED AIR... NEVER!

If you don't see anything visibly in the camera and you are not using a teleconverter that gets you over f/5.6 and you put the camera auto-choisir the Focus point and it cannot always focus... you should contact Canon service for help because you have exhausted well enough that you can do yourself.

    Hey Shadowcat.

    Thanks for posting.

It seems that the AF method is set in fast Mode.  When the device is set for Live View shooting, there are different methods of AF that can be set.  In fast Mode, the device uses the AF sensor dedicated to focus when you press the shutter button halfway.

The image on the LCD is stopped while the camera tries to focus because the shutter closes and the mirror falls on the image sensor.  It may seem as if the camera is taken a picture, but this isn't, it focuses only.  No flash is triggered during this process either.  Continue to hold the shutter halfway button until the focus is reached, how the image will be back on the LCD screen.  Then you can press the shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture.  The flash fires and the image will be saved.

  • How to focus with live view on 70 d

    Hello

My girlfriend recently bought the 70 d and while that it "is a neat device, we would hit a problem: how to place your focus using live view in M mode?
I want only to place the point and to focus with half the press as usual. Instead, when I place the focus by pressing the touch screen, it should be immediately shot.

And why there is no possibility to move the update using the wheel apperture as on my 6 d?

When in live view, you can use the rear dial to move the focus "place".

  • Viewfinder and live view focus

Before the AF points while looking through the viewfinder, I had it places generic development of the box, as well as for the liveview one. Now I have these annoying red red AF points. I would like to revert to the earlier version of the format/system, but do not know how. Can someone please explain?

For more information, I read on (and it the manual) and done a reset with nothing doesn't.

    Thank you

    Phoenix

    What camera do you use?

You say you have 'small red dots' in the viewfinder, or mode live view.  These points are your focus points does not with Live View (which uses a different, lower development system).  They are actually quite important for the use of a digital SLR, but you can choose to use or not.

For the viewfinder you don't have choice (assuming you are using a digital SLR).  You look at the actual image, through the lens.  There is no graphics in there, other than the LED on the bottom that you tell your settings and these focus areas incorporated into the screen.  If you are using a device with an electronic viewfinder, which is not necessarily true, but that the way this is the EOS forum I will assume that you are using a digital SLR, which don't have an electronic viewfinder.

If you try to change the settings in Live View mode, I have to rely on someone else, I don't really use it.  But I would not be surprised if you can choose between the box and the points.

  • CC 2015 live view works only with php files

I try to use Dreamweaver CC 2015 with my local host of XAMPP PHP/MySql.  I use the same configuration I used with CC 2014 for my site, but when I switch to Live View, the default view is not to find the host local sever folder and only for the local page of XAMPP.  My localhost in my setup of site server address is: C:\xampp\htdocs\STproto\, but the poster address bar: http://localhost/xampp/ when in Live View mode.  When I manually change the address mode live view to the specific file: c:\xampp\htcdocs\STproto\index.php, the page appears correctly.

Is there a difference in the configuration of the local server in 2015 for CC that I'm missing?

  • Text fields show only not in Design or in Live View mode

    Hi all

I ran into a problem when trying to create a simple through Dreamweaver CS6 contact form.  I have two text fields for the name & Email and 1 text box for comments.  The question that I am running is that text fields are not displayed in Design or in Live view mode.  I have installed all the required variables for the server for the form to work... but that shouldn't have any effect on the demonstration of text field...  I tried to download my contact page with the same result of no list of text fields...

What is really laughable, it is that the "text box", that I placed in my form for comments appears in Design mode & Live very well.  I think I'm missing something, but don't know what exactly.  The form is rendered by CSS.

Here is the code for the form:

    < div id = "CRDForm" >

    " < form action =" http://www.sweetformimi.com/FormMail/formmail.php "method ="post"enctype =" application/x-www-formulaires-urlencoded"name ="contact"target ="_self"id ="contact"> "

    < input type = "hidden" name = "env_report' value ="REMOTE_HOST REMOTE_ADDR, HTTP_USER_AGENT, REMOTE_USER and AUTH_TYPE">

    " < input type ="hidden"name = 'recipients' value = ' [email protected] "/ > "

    < input type = "hidden" name = "subject" value = "Contact form" / >

    Your full name p > < label > <

    < input name = "Name" type = "text" id = 'Name' size = "40" / > < / p >

    < / label >

    < label > < p > Email

    < input name = "email" type = "text" accesskey = "2" tabindex = "2" title = "Email" value = "Email" > < / p >

    < / label >

    < Label > comments < br / >

    < = cols 'comments' textarea name = "40" lines = "10" accesskey = "3" tabindex = "3" title = 'Comments' > < / textarea >

    < / label >

    < name of entry = 'submit' type = 'submit' accesskey = "4" tabindex = "4" title = "submit" value = "submit" >

    < / make >

    < / div >

There are other variables that I should think in the rest of my site?  I use a checkerboard to fluid.  I have CSS for office, Tablet and phone devices.  I also have a primary CSS file that imports all three.  Structure sites was conducted through the use of < header >, < article >, < footer > and of course the < div > tags.

Has anyone already has the "text fields" does not come before? Is this a simple fix like reinstalling Dreamweaver CS6?  Finally, another thing I should mention is that I had a previous version of Dreamweaver on my computer, which was of CS3.  I have do not uninstall before installing the latest version.  I assumed (and I could be wrong here) that it would automatically replace the old version.

I apoligize for what it is long-winded, but I am looking for help on this issue...

    Thank you

Take the code you have posted and insert it into a new document in Dreamweaver as it is, record and watch. The fields on the form show? If they do there is something else in your code or the css that is responsible does not appear in this case, we would need to see the entire page and css.

For me the code in design mode and live mode view shows your form fields.

  • Live View works only on the PHP page

All of my web pages are .php

I can't Live View to work. He returned to Design each time I chose Live. Viewing live does not work on php Web pages?

(using the latest version of DW)

PHP pages work fine in Live view in Dreamweaver CC 20141. Make sure you have a test server set up correctly in your site definition.

Editing PHP pages in Live View mode is not very successful. It isn't really a problem with Dreamweaver because PHP is a language side server. Therefore, the server must parse the page again whenever you make a change, but save the file until the server can process it again. However, editing CSS to PHP pages works extremely well, as long as you use an external style sheet. The server doesn't have to treat the page again because CSS is just plain text.

  • Question of Live View EOS 70 d

    Hello

I just bought a 70 d EOS.  My question relates using Live View under "auto".  I understand that touch the display screen directly causes the camera to focus about to contact, and that's exactly what's happening on my camera.  However, I also noticed that exposure changes as well.  For example, if I touch a subject dark opening or time will change to allow for more light and vice versa if I touch a light object.

I don't see any reference to this in the manual.  This is a very good feature, but I'd be curious to know where this feature is described in the manual, if anyone knows.

    Thank you

D 70 has an iFCL 63-zone metering system. In other words, the area of the image you see in the viewfinder is divided into 63 different areas which are measured individually, with the collected info better interpreted the system and then used to get to what the camera "think" is a correct exposure.

When in 'Auto', it probably uses so-called evaluative method. This method places more emphasis on the area immediately around the active AF point. It's kind of like one-off measure related to the focus area turns, but evaluative measure also considers the rest of the area of the image in its calculations.

You probably also Simulation exhibition enabled (in fact it is not possible to turn it off using a fully automatic mode).

If you were using a rather 'creatives' (as Canon calls) auto exposure modes, you would have more flexibility in the setting of the camera upwards. For example, you can choose a different method of counting (weighted Central don't react just like evaluative, simply examines the entire image area, with slightly more emphasis on the central part of the image, but without link to special AF point), or you could dial in some more or less using Exposure Compensation adjustment. AV, Tv and P is the automatic exposure modes 'creative '. AV means "Aperture priority" and is where you choose the opening and automation of the camera selects an appropriate shutter speed to match. TV stands for "Shutter priority", where you choose a shutter speed and the camera rule opening automatically. P is "programming mode", where the device regulates the opening and priority. (Note: in three modes, you would have chosen and ISO, first.)

You could also disable Simulation exhibition, if you wish. Then the visible image on the LCD screen of the camera varies in the same way.

However, I really do not pretend that you do not use evaluative measurement or Simulation of exposure. They are both valuable tools at your disposal. I suggest that you learn to use them to your advantage. Also become familiar with the camera's three other methods of counting (Center weighted, partial and Spot).

Evaluative measure doesn't do a good job in a variety of situations. I suggest you learn to use it.

First, try to think about the world in shades of gray, rather than colors. Like all the reflective metering systems, it was designed to produce a "neutral gray" and is influenced by the tone of the subject. For example, if you are shooting a black bear in a coal mine, the camera tries it overexposing. Or, if you are shooting a polar bear in a snow storm, the camera will try to underexpose it. In both cases, the metering system is still trying to be out "neutral grey". He can't think... to do the thinking and to recognize the situations where it will be shifted, skip it and make the appropriate adjustments.

Simulation of exposure can help warn you of the top and bottom of the trends of the exhibition. You can also read your images and inspect the histogram, see if you over or underexposure issues, so that you can always re - draw the image if necessary.

Note: more of what the camera offers there are other types of meters that work differently. For example, measure frequency measures the light falling on the subject, rather than what is reflected off of him (such as reflective metering). Used right, it can make for a more precise dosage. However, there is simply no practical way to build a frequency counter in a camera and use it for automatic exposure control. Frequency counters are for the most part separated, handheld and many of them are also able to measure with precision the flash and strobe lighting.

It seems to me that if your device works just like it should. It's just a matter to become familiar with it and learn to use it.

In addition to the manual that came with the camera, there are guides available that can be very useful and complete the manual. I suggest you to check what guides are out for 70 days. Whenever I have started working with a new model of camera I always buy one or two of the guides, as a shortcut to get up to speed using the camera. From personal experience, I can recommend guides by Charlotte Lowrie, Michael Guncheon and David Busch. If you are looking for 70 "d" on Amazon in the books, I'm sure you will find guides by one or several of these authors and probably a few other very good (some authors a few I know).

If you are really new to photography, I also highly recommend getting a copy of "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. It can also be very useful, and is more of a preview of the works the cameras in general. I think it should be mandatory reading for all new photographers, or at least for all those who want to move beyond the skill level of point-n-shoot.

    troyantonik,

What lens do you have and have you tried other lenses with your camera to see if they also not auto focus when you press the shutter button halfway?

Just in case a parameter can be the cause, I recommend you to reset the unit to default settings.  Follow these steps:

    1. Press the MENU key.

  • EOS 6 d zoom in remote mode live view sharper?

    Hello

I have this Canon EF 70-300mm Zoom lens on my EOS 6 d, connected via EOS Utility Remote on my Macbook Pro running MacOS 10.9.1. Everything works very well, and I'm really impressed by the level of detail that I can achieve by zooming in on the Moon:

I thought, that looks really amazing! Imagine what the shot will look like when I break the real photo with these settings. And then I get it. This is a comparison of the screenshot of the Live View Zoom View (left) and the actual shooting (right):

I tried to change the quality of the image (I tried RAW) does not. I do not know whence the loss of details, I was wondering if anyone here had any idea about this or that she ran into similar problems.

    Thank you

    Michel

You can try and turn off High ISO NR? at ISO 12800, you can lose a lot of details with NR. The Moon is clear enough, you don't need an ISO high. And the Moon must be sharp, even at slow shutter speed. Try so the slow shutter speed, lower the ISO, turn off NR. Your shot looks like more on NR off focus or camera shake.

  • His mirror of Canon 70 d Live View

    Hello

Understand that when you press the Start/Stop button to switch to Live View viewfinder mode, it will produce a sound of the mirror tilting upward.

But then, in the mode live view, whenever I have half-press the shutter button to the update, it keeps producing the same sound that the mirror flipping over, the LCD turns off like half a second and again with the topic under discussion.

Is this normal or something is wrong with my camera?

    Thank you.

    Hello

It seems that if you use Live View "Quick AF" focus mode (page 243 of your manual)... This removes the mirror temporarily interested using the matrix of sensors in the viewfinder (phase detection) and then triggers the mirror again. It is faster than the method of Live View contrast detection focusing on most DSLRs.

However, 70 d has the new method of development "double pixel" available in Live View mode in other Live View focus modes, which is pretty darn fast. So you shouldn't need to "Quick AF" mode. See page 233 to 242 in your job and choose one of the other focus Live View modes.

  • FancyBox - Working in Live View mode, but not in the preview

    Hello!

I searched the forums for some answers, but I can't just understand what I am doing wrong. I'm really a beginner with Dreamweaver and coding, so I think I'm just something wrong. I hope that someone will be able to point me in the right direction! Anyway, here's my problem...

I could not get the Fancybox to work properly. When I test my page through Live View, it seems to work very well. However, Fancybox does not work as expected when I test through various browsers in preview. Instead of bring the image in a Fancybox object, it transfers me to a page that contains only the image. I've read several posts that have raised the same issue, but I can't simply solve this problem on my own.

In order to understand this point, I created a simple test page that contains only the content of my Fancybox and a single image. I'll list the code below:

    <! doctype html >

    < html >

    < head >

    < meta charset = "UTF-8" >

    < title > FancyBox Test < /title >

    <! - load jquery - >

    " < script type =" text/javascript"src =" http://code.jQuery.com/jQuery-latest.min.js "> < / script > .

    <!--> fb style sheet

    "< link rel ="stylesheet"href="/fancybox/source/jquery.fancybox.css "type =" text/css"media ="screen"/ >

    <!-pack jquery fb->

    "< script type =" text/javascript"src="/fancybox/source/jquery.fancybox.pack.js "> < / script >

    < / head >

    < body >

    < a class = "fancybox" rel = "group1" href = "images/Illustration_1.png" > < img src = "images/Illustration_1.png" width = "620" class = "fancybox image" height = "662" / > < / a > "

    < script type = "text/javascript" >

    {$(document) .ready (function ()}

    $(".fancybox").fancybox ();

    });

    < /script >

    < / body >

    < / html >

I kept all the Fancybox files in a folder called 'fancybox' in my root directory. I know that I do not need to place the image in a group, since I don't currently have more than one image, but finally, I would like to have multiple images, so I went ahead and assigned to a group. I added the class 'fancybox-image' to the image so that I was messing around and it seemed to make it work inside of Live View, but I does nothing for me when I use an excerpt.

I tested in several browsers, but I tend to use Firefox to test the most. Using the Firefox web developer tools, I found some fundamental questions. The Console gives me the following error: "TypeError: $(...).» FancyBox is not a function"and the Style Editor told me that the style sheet can be loaded. I thought this might give me enough information to solve this problem on my own, but I'm obviously missing something here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is your folder fancybox on the same level of your images folder directory in your site definition?

If so, just get rid of the bar oblique leader in your links to the fancybox scripts.

  • I can't put files when in Live View mode

I have my site configured to "automatically download files to the server when checking". When I save a file, it is properly is placed on the server. However, if I have the Live View active and you save a file, I get the error "access is denied.  The file exists may not be not on-site, can be opened in another program, or there might be a problem of local authorization. "If I switch to Live View twice (that is, turn it off and turn it back on), the file is displayed correctly in Live View mode.

I always have to close Live View before (save) a file? I do this hundreds of times each day. It seems that the file should be placed and arranged Live View mode...

    Thank you!

    Switch to the Design mode.

I have my site configured to "automatically download files to the server when checking".

IMO, this is a very dangerous setting that should never be used.  Even the experts make mistakes.

It is much safer to save first.  When you are sure that your files are good to go, press Ctrl + Shift + u to download.

After a download session, I always unplug the remote server.
