T40 - 2373

Hi, I try to install Windows XP on this machine. When the Setup program tries to start to access the hard drive, the machine said that there is no hard drive installed. I will start looking for solutions to problems?

THX, Kenneth

Make sure that the disc is inserted completely, face down, secured by four screws in his caddy. A few micrometres will cause the drive not recognized.

Good luck and we keep abreast.

  • How to know if a new T40 has wireless

Sorry, I have to ask fundamental and seemingly simple questions, but I can't understand this. I had a T40 2373-1U1 model on which the motherboard went bad. I plug a 'skeleton' off eBay type system, installed my old hard drive and runs again. The new system is a 2373-7CU. I don't see the symbol of air bit at the bottom of the LCD when it is open. I don't see the bluetooth symbol as my last computer was. However, when I'll be in the Device Manager and check for a card wireless network, there are none (just the rigid cable adapter). I tried the Add New Hardware Wizard, but he found nothing to add. Advice from those of you who know more than me. Thank you - Ken

You can only use the original version of Thinkpads/IBM wireless cards, version of other companies may give you an error message.

Hardware maintenance manual can be accesed here for T40

It's an old T40, but it still works very well, it has now been upgraded to bluetooth and the wi - fi card has been upgraded wireless g. It is worth nothing to sell, cost more to reformat and reinstall windows I could get for her. I think I'll keep it for a long time.

  • I have an old windows laptop, media noise does not. What can I do?

So, I do not know what that is my laptop. I think it is a Windows XP Professional-2CPU 1, because that's what it says on the bottom. It's an IBM, if that helps.

I realize that whenever he plays the usual sounds, be it the his error or the sounds of the normal laptop, they are clear or not my headphones are in. However, when I play a video file or music online or in my library, although the set of songs and videos, there is no sound. Even if the headphones are out of the socket.

  • Standby and Hibernate is not available

I serve these functions for several years on my T40 2373-94U - until they have ceased to be available. Information Lenovo has not resolved the problem, not the internet in general. I have the latest version of the BIOS, and I think that the hibernation is enabled, but do not know what are the correct settings - so I'm using the default values. Power management software is up to date. Command powercfg info line shows that these functions are not available. I wonder if I should re-flashing the bios, or consider that other software (I don't know what on my system too complex) intervenes. Ideas and suggestions are appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

I have a model of 2373 thinkpad T40 type 16U. I'm looking to upgrade the internal hard drive. I had a few questions: can I put in an ATA-6 hard drive in this laptop? If so, the BIOS does limit the amount memory addressable in the hard drive?

  • T40 fan error

I have a T40 Type 2373 and when I turn it on, it reads Fan Error and turns off after a few seconds. I guess I have to buy a new fan, but I don't know which fan to buy. A replacement parts site says that he wears a LONG FAN and FAN SHORT for the T40. Is there a difference between the two? Which should I buy?

    Welcome to the forum!

Either will work in a T40, but I'd go with long fan, because it offers the best cooling. Your 'stock' fan is a fan of short.

    I hope this helps.

  • IBM/Lenovo 802, 11-N available for T41 2373-9FU internal card?

    I have an IBM T41 2373-9FU Type.

The laptop has an internal wireless card, and I guess that the card was included with the laptop because the card can be managed by using the Fn + F5 key and the corresponding software.

I really like the IBM software used to manage the card and also like the relative elegance of use an internal card, rather than a PCMCIA or USB card.

Are there maps mini-PCI IBM or Lenovo available that take supported 802.11n? I love the wireless software I use now on the laptop and wish to continue using it, rather than using a software and a different brand card.

    Thank you

    Steve
