T400 Downgrade to XP question

I recently bought a T400 with the Vista business with XP downgrade option. I had read that to mean that it comes with Vista installed and had an opportunity to go back to XP, if you wish. The system comes with XP installed and no disk to upgrade to vista. My question is how to move to Vista and it is possible to get the recovery partition to restore on Vista if necessary?

    Hi guys,.

I have a very annoying problem on a machine by also excellent.

Whenever I play my music via my Media Player, or Watch youtube, I get crackle and light pop of the enclosure (same thing with my headphones).

I installed the latest drivers from lenovo.

No idea how I might be able to solve this problem?

Any chance I might be able to find the previous version of the audio driver somewhere just to try out it?

    Thank you!

xpking, I just found the solution to my problem. But it is quite a bit different from what you experience, in the sense that I still have the sound and the sound of crackling existed when the system is on, it's probably worth a try.

It's the solution to another post in the forum of lenovo:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/LNV/board/message?board.ID=SL_ThinkPads&view=by_date_ascending&message.ID=1...

I couldn't find the driver version previous post mentioned, so I just drove back from the pilot as said and it worked!

Device Manager could not find Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI more however. Don't know if that will be a problem or not.

  • Another way to downgrade to win 8 pro for win 7 pro

I got a new Mini-Tower xps 8700 with 8 pre-installed pro victory. I think this falls into the rules of dell for win 7 pro downgrade. The question is can I use a reinstall pro 7 dell victory of a computer drive dell laptop to achieve this downgrade?

"I got a new Mini-Tower xps 8700 with 8 pre-installed pro victory. I think this falls into the rules of dell for win 7 pro downgrade. »

They are not rules downgrade "Dell"... they are rules of downgrade from Microsoft, and Yes, Windows 8 Pro (Pro ONLY) qualifies for the downgrade rights.  Activation for downgrade rights is the responsibility of the user, so you can activate it using ANY other license (even if used on a different machine/account without affecting this license)... a Dell installation DVD is eligible.  Normally, a Dell installation DVD requires NO key to enter, and the range of systems that work with a DVD is extensive, but not universal, so if it asks for a product key, you will need to have one of your own to provide.

    Why would you downgrade?

What I want to do now is to downgrade my version of BIOS. Is anyone know how it works, and someone has an older version of BIOS of 2005? I couldn't find any older versions on the Toshiba support sites.

    Thanks for all replies!

You re right. On the Toshiba page you will find only the latest version of the BIOS and the older versions are not available on the page.
In my opinion if you want to downgrade the BIOS question using the service provider authorized in your country.

  • Downgrade macOS Sierra El Capitan question

    Hi all

earlier today, I upgraded my Mac mini (end 2012) to the latest version of macOS Sierra.

After 1 hour of use, I realized that many of my plugins FCPX were not working.

I contacted the developers, and they said does not update the plugins and they told me to go back to El Capitan.

I decided to listen to them and try to downgrade my OS.

I restarted the Mac and held down Cmd - R or something like that that took me to the disk utility screen.

Then I went down to dinner, and when I returned 30 minutes later my Mac had entered the sleep mode for some reason any.

I woke up the Mac and 40 seconds later the power went out for 5-10 minutes.

After the blackout, I restarted my Mac that took me to a black screen with a flashing question mark folder.

I followed some tutorials online (including how to enter get - and the recovery of internet mode), but after a while even restoration of the internet shows me the flashing question mark folder.

I don't know what to do.

And no - unfortunately I don't have a Time Machine backup.

But I have a backup with all my most important files.

Is it possible to force the Mac to reset itself or something like that?

    Help, please.

    Best regards

  • Satellite A200 - 1 GB: Questions on downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 1 GB and I want to downgrade to XP, but I have a few questions.

    + I install XP using nlite. +

    1. I have 2 partitions and I would like to know if my other partition (not the one with the operating system) will be also well formatted?

    2. I have Vista Bios. Should I change it to XP? And if so when do I need to do.

    Thank you!!!

    Hello

The original CD of Microsoft Windows XP provides an option to modify, create or delete partitions on the HARD disk.
If during the XP installation procedure, you should be able to install XP on a single partition. Other partitions will not be formatted!

    With regard to the BIOS:
You could update the BIOS after installing XP.
The laptop must run also without the update of the BIOS.

But from my knowledge the FN keys would work using the operating system XP and Vista BIOS. So if you need to use all the features of the laptop, the BIOS update would be desirable.

    See you soon

  • HP Envy 700-430qe: question to downgrade HP Envy 700-430qe operating system

This computer came with windwos 8.1 and to be honest, I hate it.  This model can downgrade to windows 7 if I have a few copies of this House, or can I get a HP disc with this system and drivers and what not... sent my bigest most question is are there drivers for this material available for windows 7 for this computer.

J6N60AAR is the spicific product number.

HP has no Windows 7 drivers for this unit.  Make them can be a challenge.

Don't forget to create the external HP recovery media before doing anything.

Update the BIOSon your PC and get your PC stable if need be.

You have a PC delivered W8.  Did you check with HP and see if you have downgrade rights?

Consult this publication of the article.

If you still wish to go forward with Windows 7, then you can get the drivers of thissimilar model.

No guarantee that they will work.

Be careful when using Windows 7 disks that you have around your House.  If the license key has been used on other computers, then you will not be able of their.  A key, a single computer.

  • C2Y65AV dv7 Bluetooth question WANT after the victory of 8.1 to Win 7 Downgrade

My laptop is an ENVYdv7 C2Y65AV

He came originally with Windows 8.0, and I later upgraded to 8.1.

I never liked 8.0 or 8.1 so I "had" to Windows 7 Professional. I did my research, realizing that there may be questions. I downloaded the drivers, bought a new drive hard, etc..

Everything went past better than expected and I'm happy with the "downgrade", except for 1 issue.

    1. I have difficulties to get my Bluetooth to connect completely to one of my devices (headset or headset).
My WiFi works well, I think the Bluetooth 4.0 is part of the Intel Centrino WiFi card. When connecting to any Bluetooth device, it appears in the Bluetooth devices screen. It will discover and 'connect', but nothing happens when I try to use them. The sound always comes through the laptop speakers.

I have the Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230 BNHMW came with the laptop. It worked fine with Windows 8.1. All my devices Bluetooth paired easily with the laptop when Windows 8.1 is running.

I went to the Intel Web site, made sure my driver for the wireless card for Windows 7 is the most recent and correct version. They have a software utility that installs on your laptop, then search and download the last correct version.

I downloaded all the drivers for this HP downgrade, driver and software help section () of the Internet site. What great resource is this site!

    Suggestions? Advice?
    I appreciate any help!

    Thank you

    P. S.

One interesting thing about Windows 8.1.

When I installed Windows 7 Professional, I bought a new hard drive SSD just for that purpose. I had saved my hard drive took a shot with 8.1 Windows on it just in case this downgrade are successful.

Just for grins, I added it as a second hard disk (later) in the case where I needed to get the missed files.

When I restarted my laptop, I went into the Manager startup and selected my main drive with Windows 7. It started normally.

Then the seconds after startup, a message pops up saying that I had to reboot for the changes to take effect. I don't remember making some, but thought that something was updated?

So I did. I rebooted and Windows 8.1 supports and edit files on my hard drive SSD (disk win 7) which ultimately disabled the Windows 7 boot disk.
Attempt to start the hard disk Windows 7 has frozen just after the start of Windows 7 screen.

I pulled the plug on the rebooted Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 hard disk. Before I could however, he had to scan the hard disk for changes and correct. Then Windows 7 booted up normally.

This Windows 8.1 is of course control. Can you say 'Hal' from the film '2001 A Space Odessay'

    Hello

The 2230 Intel chip is crap. I suggest to get decent bth less Intel 6235 or 7260AC to get a connection. The 2230 provokes many questions it is better to get rid of and use a correct wifi card.

  • Scan fingerprint T400 is non-functional + R & R question

I expect to hear from someone else with a similar configured T400 who did a fresh install of Win 7 Professional.

Have you had problems to install and use the fingerprint reader software?

Have you had problems installing rescue & recovery 4.3?

I have no luck installing R & R, and the fingerprint reader does not work.

    Moderator Note: subject adjusted line.

Seriously, I appreciate the detailed responses that everyone has provided to try to help solve my problems. You are all a great resource and contribution to this community.

    1. the question of the fingerprint has been resolved with the help of a hotline to lenovo. After a quick list of my troubleshooting steps, the support agent has ordered a replacement palmrest with a new scanner of fp. Problem solved! More funny thing is - the scanner FP software tutorial still picked up my fingerprints, but he was not one of my prints or establishing a single sign on the session. After a quick exchange FRU - bang, it worked immediately.

    2. the question of R & R no longer exists after the replacement of the fingerprint scanner. I guess that there is a hook in the software requiring the FP scanner is fully functional and it bombed.

    Fixed and fixed.

  • Question of ' system cannot activate the graphics performance "T400

    Hi all

I have a ThinkPad T400 with Switchable Graphics, running Windows 7 x 64, with the latest drivers provided by Lenovo.  I tried to go to the ATI graphics card today for the first time in a little and got a message "system cannot activate the graphics performance", invites me to disable all external video connections or disable all graphics applications.

The problem is, I don't have any open application.  I disabled several startup programs, uninstalled VMWare Workstation and tried several services, I thought that might interfere with the manual - still no luck switching.  I'll reinstall the driver, but in the meantime, anyone have any ideas, or find a resident program that tempt me not not to be able to switch from Intel for the ATI graphics card?

I believe that after checking the system logs, the error was somewhere in libraries Visual C++ Runtime. I decided at this point, that the question was too difficult to follow and with Service Pack 1 available, I saved and reloaded. Problem solved.

  • Question - Article Andre Da Costa: how Downgrade Windows 7 editions

Andre, I added this question to the section of the comments to your article awhile back.

Can another question Andre, you use a DVD upgrade and keys to perform the downgrade? for example Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Home premium using a version upgrade to Home Premium.

    Thanks again.

Yes, you can, but you may need to reactivate over the telephone.

  • Downgraded to flash 10.3, big questions

He began performing with the last Flash. Randomly when watching videos from YouTube (or any other video site that uses Flash) I would have your typical crashes and freezes. However, stretched to more than FireFox, it would be the cause of constant freezes on my computer everything and anything I would do. It would continue even after that I closed FireFox, forcing me to reboot. He kept the case over and over and over and over again, so I downgraded to Flash 10.3. The problem disappeared for a while, but then came back. Always on Flash 10.3 and seems to happen very often now. I thought it might be hardware problems, or a virus or drivers have been exceeded. I've checked everything, it of all fine and updated and digitized.

The problem only occurs if I try to load any type of Flash video, whether it's YouTube or elsewhere, and once it happens it'll continue to happen until I restart. I found that by using Windows 'Boot with the last known good configuration' would stop the problem for a few days, and then come back, forcing me to restart and do it again. I have re-updated my drivers and opted for the update of the driver of nVidia instead of the official Sony driver for my nVidia card, but no change. I don't know what more can be done, and it's driving me crazy.

Try turning off hardware acceleration and tell us what is happening.

See also if this happens in safe mode .

  • A few questions after the downgrade of Win 7 on Satellite U940 - 11L

    Hello

friend of mine bought the Toshiba Satellite U940 - 11L which had Windows 8 on it, due to some reasons that she wanted to have Windows 7 installed on it, which was pretty easy.

Trouble came with the installation of the Symantec touchpad, after installing the drivers, it worked for about 10-15 minutes but then it stopped working.

Tried to uninstall and install again but no luck, found a few discussions where it was suggested to remove all the devices, remove the battery and the power cord.

Press the power button for 15 seconds and then power back on but still not lucky (I wasn't in the restoration of the default settings of the Bios I did not any change it outside disabling secure boot and replacing UEFI CSM that was needed to run win 7 on it).

Tried about 4 different sources when it comes to the drivers but still does not work. I checked the Device Manager Dev but see no conflict, and it shows that the unit works fine but the problem persists. Please note that the drivers were specific to windows 7.

Please if you have any suggestions we would greatly appriciate it.

On another note, I'm not able to install the bluetooth it (HW ID shows as ACPI\TOS6205), I tried to install it several times but no luck because it always shows as unknown device in the dev Manager. The driver that I use is Bluetooth Filter Driver Package as info.

Also, the computer is slower than it was with Windows 8, I suspect the reason for this is the fact that the installation of win 7 I accidentally erased part of the hybrid drive SSD (the size was 11.2 GB if I remember correctly, yes silly me...). I wasn't looking for a while on the net to see if there is a way to fix it but no luck so far.

Thank you very much for your time and your suggestions!

    Tony

With regard to the question of the touchpad.
To my knowledge, the touchpad should work even if the Synaptics touchpad driver has not been installed. Windows system contains own driver that control the touchpad and provide standard settings. Of course after installing the Synapatics driver, you should get a few more options and features more touchpad.

I recommend you to download the driver for the touchpad from Synaptics driver page and install it again: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

With regard to the problem of BT.
The laptop supports WLan Intel (Intel Wireless-N 2230) card that supports BT connectivity. Bt driver filter pack is ONLY necessary if you laptop would use an Atheros WLan card or Realtek WLan card. For the Intel WLan modules such package of filter is NOT necessary. To get BT to work, you must install the battery Toshiba BT!

  • Satellite A300 PSAG0A: Vista to XP downgrade question

I just bought a Satellite A300 with the following details:

Model satellite A300/Y00 (exclusive to Dikc Smith Electronics in Australia)
    PSAG0A-02Y009
    2.1 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T8100
    2 GB RAM DDR2 (667 MHz)
    250 GB SATA HARD drive
    Graphics Intel X 3100 (GM965)
MS Windows Vista Business pre installed
MS WIndows XP downgrade for A300 recovery disk media

Basically, I just turned on and configure everything, nothing about that fact yet, not even other software installed.
I immediately made 2 copies of the recovery of the product for Vista media. So the disc XP and Vista should have all the drivers on them.

I want to install a software particularly (for programming electronic components), but the company said that it is not fully compatible with Vista. Therefore, I would like to downgrade to XP and use it for 6 to 12 months, and later POSSIBLY roll back to Vista.

Now, the information provided by Toshiba are limited with respect to the downgrading to XP. (And there is absolutely nothing about to go back to Vista).
The documentation provided shows four options at retirement:
    1) recover to out-of-box-state,.
    (2) covers the single State of Windows,
    (3) recover without changing hard disk partitions,
    4) recover on a custom size partition. He then goes on to say "Please do not select 'Recover without changing the partitions of hard drive' as a method of recovery." Windows XP cannot be used by the composition of the partition of Windows Vista".

First of all, what are the ramifications of the other options? What is the best/worst one and why?

If I understand correctly, the partitioning of the hard drive must be changed for the downgrade to XP.
But in Vista, there is a separate partition to store data recovery, so that the partition will be changed (lost).
If ever I decide to go back to Vista, the Vista recovery media I created also change the partitioning to the way it was originally?

I dared not touch anything until I'm 100% sure of what needs to be done.
If anyone has any experience with this or advice, I would be grateful for your expertise.
Feel free to be as detailed and technical that you like - I want to 'understand' and not just 'do '.

    Thanks in advance,
    Robert.

    Hi Robert

I put t have Satellite A300 and I don t have an Australian notebook but I m, owner of another European model Satellite with preinstalled Vista operating system!
In any case, I want to share my experience with Vista and XP and of course the recovery procedure on E

First I noticed that the new notebook series is not delivered with the Toshiba Recovery CD but the image recovery is store on the HARD drive and you can create and burn image from own DVD.
    Seems that you already have.

As you already suggested the Vista supports 2 different partitions. A partition is the system partition and the partition of the other, smaller, hidden was created for Vista backup files. So if something goes wrong with your Vista operating system, you can use the repair function on Vista to repair the operating system. In this case, small backup partitions, hidden in necessary.

I also like Xp and that's why I installed it on my laptop. I didn't format t disc installed HARD but the XP on a new created partition.
You can create a partition in Vista's disk management.
In any case, I now have a dual boot OS and I use Vista and XP.

    With regard to the use of the Vista DVD recovery;
If you want to go back to Vista, you will need to boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD and the Vista installation process should begin.
But be aware that the Vista recovery CD would format the whole HARD drive.
It would erase the partitions and remove stored data.
Therefore, you must back up your data before that you would use the recovery CD!

Hope this little info will help you.

    Good bye
