T420 Wifi card problems

OS - Windows 10 Professional - clean install a couple of days.

I recently bought a refurbished T420. When it arrived, I was unable to view networks wireless in my house. I looked in the Device Manager and I saw a wifi card, Fn + f5 has not been implemented to the card settings, turn on/off the radio was not working, etc.. I took the back cover off the case and inside was a Sierra Wireless 3 G card. I removed the card and uninstalled the device. I bought an Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6205 map. Couple of questions...

(1) it is not perfectly. I'm sure you know, Sierra Wireless is twice as long that the 6205 so when it is plugged in, the 6205 don't extend to the length of the device precedent and thusly, I can join only one of the two connectors antena. In addition, I am unable to guarantee to the Commission because he can't screw holes - thus, while it is in the slot of mPCIe, he always follows at an inclination of 45 degrees.

(2) the laptop does not see the card. I scanned for changes material both by Device Manager, as well as on the Lenovo site and it appears at all. It is also not showing in BIOS. I downloaded and installed many drivers in order to help him to be seen, but none have worked. I think that the current I installed is: Wireless_19.20.0_PROSet64_Win10. I installed it manually via Setup inherited in Device Manager, but it seems unable to update the drivers. I checked the number FRU of the 6205 against the whitelist and it is said that it is good, then...

(3) Bluetooth is installed on the laptop and seems to work.

What I am doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome, SPinCharlotte

T420 has separate slots for wwan (Sierra Gobi 3000 I suppose, in your case) and wireless network cards. 1 is located under the bottom of the laptop, the 2nd is under the keyboard.

Wireless network card does not work and is invisible by BIOS/EC because of PCIe lanes than necessary are not routed in the wwan slot.

Take a look at the Maintenance Manual T420 hardware on the support page for details on laptop laptop disassemble instructions to install the new wireless network card.

Can someone help me out here?

    It's interesting.

Wifi connection in the systray icon, as seen usually indicates that there is a wifi connection. Click on it to see if it shows a connection.  Is the wifi led lit and white instead of amber?  Can you put a picture of the device manager that shows the wireless network card?

An option would be to connect the CAT5 cable to your router or modem, and then use the HP Support Assistant.  Click on the HP icon in the toolbar start the HP Support Assistant. Take a look at the section updates and optimizations. You can click on it to find the driver ojnthe HP Server support as long as you have an internet connection.

  • Someone else has an iPhone 6 with a faulty wifi card?

I had problems with the wifi connection on my iPhone 6 during some time now. The phone constantly drops the connection wifi, carries a low when connected connection and force me to be right next to the router in order to make a connection. I first contacted apple to this topic on December 2015 (2 months after my 1 year warranty) they got to toggle flight mode, toggle the wifi button, reset the network settings, reset the phone completely back to factory settings... I did everything several times and the problem is still there.  I was told by a couple of reps on the phone to take the phone to an Apple Store and ask them to help me... So I took the 2-hour drive to the Apple store nearest to say that the phone has a faulty wifi card and it is not repairable. He said the phone had to be replaced, but I was out of the warranty period and I have to pay $299.00 more taxes for a replacement...

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm quite shocked that apple refuses to fix it which is at their end in the form of a defective unit. I understand that it is out of warranty, but it is a problem of manufacturig. These phone cost US $300 more our old phone. I am not able to drop $300 + on a new phone that I feel that apple should be responsible. I have been looking online similar questions and have not yet find something.

Millions of this model were sold. It is likely that someone else has had a problem with their WiFi card.

I think you don't understand quite what than a guarantee. It covers all defects or failures of discovered components during the warranty period. If the phone has a two year warranty (as it would have if you had paid for AppleCare +) you would still be covered. But, if the WiFi card failed after 26 months, it would not be covered. As you are now about six months outside of your warranty, I don't know why you would expect Apple to cover a problem that you don't yet report to them until after that the guarantee was already more. You just wait for Apple to cover the failure of a component for as long as you have the phone?

  • Satellite P850 - new WIFI card cannot be turned on

I have a Satellite P850 with i7cpu and 16 GB of ram running win 7 Home premium.

The wifi card seems to abandon and that it is a realtek, without the support of their site, not even the drivers. I decided to exchange the and installed an Intel centrino advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 dual band mini wifi card that I finally got all the drivers installed, but the diagnosis intel continues to ask the mechanical switch for wifi. I tried F12 and FN keys, but nothing happens.

Any ideas on how to get this on?

In my opinion, there is compatibility problem. These upgrades or equipment Exchange is not supported. Laptop computers are offered with the specific hardware platform and Toshiba tools and utilities are designed for certain hardware platform.

Sorry, but I think that there is nothing you can do about it.
Replacement with the same card is not problematic.

  • HP ENVY laptop - 13-d045tu: BCM43142 change on Envy 13 wifi card

There is problem of BOUNCING on Windows 10 wifi connectivity so I change to another card and at the same time offering an AC 5 GHz connectivity.

One of the options I'm considering is Intel AC 7265 (HP part no 793840-005) that comes standard in the variant of other Envy 13 sold elsewhere.

Newer that I am wanting to NGFF Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 (8260NGW)is another model.

Can anyone tell if there are fears white list on the question if these cards above would work on my laptop?

Should I get the AC7265, I get the part specific HP itself or the Intel will do?

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Hugo

You can safely assume that any HP laptop with a 4th generation Intel Core processor or newer has no whitelist wireless and yours is 6th generation if you are safely beyond the question of the white list. However, the real problem comes another question HP Wireless: the single antenna module, which is now installed in most HP laptops. Most of the 1 x 1 b/g/n modules have only a single antenna that makes it impossible to get to something that works in the 5 GHz band.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See p. 31. The manual shows 2 antennas and I hope that's right but the only way to be sure is to open and just look. If you see a single antenna wireless, I shut up and look for a usb dongle that is compatible with 802.11ac. Or prepare for a complete teardown add a second antenna.

The AC 7265 is good enough, if you have two antennas to support.

You also might as well get the variant of HP that HP has a big enough market share that are still lacking these autour and they do not cost more:

  • Envy 15-j104el: updated NETWORK WiFi card and RAM update

    Goodmorning to everyone

I write this post to ask for information on the possibility to do an upgrade of hardware on my HP Envy 15-j104elsystem.

    That's what I would do:

-Replace the network card (NIC) to a wireless better and possibly with a compatible AC NIC.

-Update to 16 GB of ram, put benches with CL9 SODIMM

The questions that I want to bring to your attention are:

-There is a 'white list' for the wifi card on my BIOS (actually F66)?
(consultation with the service manual there are little NIC OEM selled, y at - it ONLY compatible?)

-Put the sticks of ram CL9 (instead of CL11 currently OEM mounted), I can inprove the overall performance?

    I want to install are:

    -Intel Wireless-AC 7260 more Bluethoot HMC 4.0

    -Kingston HyperX Impact DDR3L 16 GB (2x8gb) SODIMM 1600 Mhz CL9 (Kit)

According to your experiences, is it compatible? I can buy them without any problem?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. Thanks for your suggestions

In particular, I take this opportunity to greet and also need the help of my friend @visruth ;)

    1. no whitelist. Your laptop was conducted after HP stopped using a white list so that you can install any card with the right form factor and the number of antennas. The Intel 7260 card should work.

    2. you can install the CL9 memory but it will not do anything all run faster. The motherboard is made to operate at the speed of the OEM memory so the Kingston Hyper-X will work, but the specifications of it in operation will be the same as memory OEM.

Small Question: How do I activate the connection Wireless HP Compaq nc6320?

    Hi friends,

I have a problem in my HP Compaq nc6320 laptop. I found it long (without Wifi card)

Recently I got wifi set-up. I wanted a wifi for this card & bought a comptible after testing 10-15 cards as says the patop that were incompatile.

I set the card Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wireless & installed the drivers correctly wifi successfully tested before leaving the stall vendors.

I installed windows 7 in two times, but no luck so far.  my wifi card compatible for this model? If so whi it worked the first time from that fixed to the laptop? can someone tell me what I need to to connect with wifi please?

I can assure you that the wifi driver installation is done properly.

    Thanking you...

This laptop has a wireless white list that blocks the start if the correct card is not installed. You must purchase a wireless HP part number card.

The laptop is 10 years old. It is the only card in the manual for the United States. Don't know where you are and which may affect the part number you need, but it's the American part:

802.11a/b/g module LJ WLAN for use in the United States and the Canada. 407254 001

    Here it is on eBay:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Broadcom-Mini-PCI-Express-card-BCM94311MCAG-407254-001-/221004274059?hash=item3374e1998b:m:mLUBTJNR7QLs7JVwODHLsiw

He must have the SPS number HP part number. I suspect that your card is bad and others that you tried to buy are incompatible, then you will need to get one like the above, if you are USA or the Canada.

  • What to do after receiving the older wifi card?

    Dear Sir.
    I return my tecra m21.8Mhz of service: wireless card broke (don't know why), but they put in an older type of card: first of all, I got wireless b/g, now only b, only 11 mb/s;
    the card is now intel pro wireless mini pci adapter 2100 3B;
What should I do: do not pay and ask the wright card?
    Thanks in advance
    Dr. weekx

    Hello
I got in touch with the people who fixed your laptop to find out why the WiFi card had been changed without you knowing or consent.

If not not help with the issue, I would recommend them in writing that you intend to withhold payment until the WiFi problem is resolved satisfactorily.

    Good luck

  • After new wifi card no wireless connection

Hi, can all-in-one help me on this problem?

in my tecra M 745 due youcef change a broken wifi card: the new material appears to be installed correctly, but when I return the laptop wireless connection has been configured in windows with a maximum range of 11 MB/s (a ' b') and keepes fall all the time (notmally 54 mb/s)
When I want to set up using intel proset software, as I did before the repair (worked great), the program was empty, but the software was still in 'software': the helpdesk here said when the material is allright their work is done. they can set up but cost me a 100 euros/hour
So, what went wrong? I think that the driver is correctly installed but intel proset does not work, why?
    should I update intel proset?
    Thanks in advance
    Dr. Weekx

    Hello Dr.

If the wireless card is a new and correctly recognized and installed there not any problem at all. If there is a problem with the feature, it can be simply false connection configuration. Please don t be crazy about me, but installation and configuration of the Wi - Fi connection are two separate jobs. If you check the service for other stuff every step must be paid separately.

As you know, the wireless connection can be configured using parameters of Windows or by a customer (in your case Intel one). If you want to use the software Intel configuration of Windows MUST be disabled.

It will be nice that you give us a description of the good model laptop. Sorry, but Tecra M 745 is unclear to me. As far as I know, this is the processor identification and this processor is built in many models of different laptops.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A110 - switch WiFi does not work with the new WiFi card

    Hello everyone

I have a problem with my laptop Toshiba Satellite A110 - 178 (PSAB0E). I replaced the original Intel 3945abg with Intel Link 5100 WIFI card and on the new wifi hardware wifi card switch does not work.

New wifi card is discovered and drivers to the correct job but when I try to search with the Intel Pro/Wireless software wifi networks I message to turn on hardware switch, but there light and not work. The old wifi card swich works OK - orange light is on. On the new map light is off and swich does not work.

    Help, please

    Hello

Do you have also enabled the WLAN functionality by pressing FN + F8?
    Check it!

In addition, I think the case is clear: the new wireless LAN card isn't compatible with Satellite A110.
So in my opinion, you must use remove the new card Intel and install the old card that works fine in your laptop.

    Hello

Satellite P20 S203 is certainly Wi - Fi level and according to the specification of Toshiba (at this time), you can use two compatible WIFI adapters:
    Wireless LAN card PA3212U-4MPC (Agere 802. 11b) and PA3273U-2MPC (Atheros 802.11ab).

The card you want to use is new product, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Just try everything and if there is a problem of compatibility you can return.
