T420s BIOS update failed. Black screen

Hi all

I tried updating the BIOS with the tool provided by lenovo Web site. He failed, and at the next reboot, my laptop remains in a black screen. I tried the tool wincrisis without success. Maybe I am doing something wrong because others say use fn + r other fn + b... I'm not sure.

Suggestions to save myself before calling lenovo Monday?

Warranty covers this case?

you need a new motherboard, it will cover the warranty.

    Hello.

So yesterday, I got a Toshiba pop-up message to update my BIOS, so I clicked it and it started to update but then it says "error checking".

So I closed it, cause I had to restart my computer after one previous update with another program and I thought to try to update the BIOS after you restart.

But once it restarted it is off, so I tried to put back market but the screen is black, lights are immediately (food, batt etc.) and the fan works just as well. I tried to take the battery out and in again but screen remains black.

Could someone please tell me what you think it might be and what I have to do.

I also tried with a HDMI, but it does not recognize.

    Thank you for your help

    Hello

I think I have bad news for you.
To me, it seems that the update of the BIOS didn't
Why? Who knows maybe that some applications that runs in the background affected the BIOS update process.

I've updated the BIOS on my laptop last night, everything went well. First, I downloaded the BIOS package from the Toshiba page. Then I unzipped the folder.
I closed all applications that looked like Firewall, antivirus etc software
Then I did the BIOS update

At least in cases where the BIOS update failed, you must get in touch with a local ASP Toshiba in order to solve this problem in the best of cases they need to update the module ROM again

    Good luck

  • BIOS update failed - Dell Precision M4600

I just got a used M4600 and the currently installed bios is A08. When I try to update to A16, it restarts, said it is updating the firmware, but fails at 0%. It gives no reason and no code error I can say. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Is NOT the issue! There is nothing wrong with motherboards M4600 se.

Everyone tried to find why when you attempt an upgrade of the BIOS, the system fails immediately with a "BIOS Update Failed" basis and any specific error code or more explanations. The answer is in the PDF below--that is the message displayed when the BIOS authentication will fail!

Just look for the Firmware Signature Dell's "feature" that was introduced in a number of laptop including the M4600.  Doc PDF to download. It is a feature introduced by the NIST requirements.

In a Word, they changed the way BIOS authenticates a BIOS file before he will use it to update the firmware BIOS & CBS. The M4600 is in the list of "Legacy Systems", where it was introduced. Basically, these systems do NOT have the Firmware of Signature When produced.

Version A04 introduced this feature. After you have that installed, you will have an option to activate the requirement of Signature of the Firmware (default is). Once activated, it cannot be disabled!

The problem starts in worm BIOS A08. Something in the code is wrong. Because on some M4600s, it updates the BIOS AND activates the requirement of Signature of the Firmware. After that, the system will authenticate ALL the other versions of the BIOS, so you will NOT be able to upgrade past version 8!

I got many, many systems for a company. I'm currently sitting on 33 (Yes, that many) M4600 with this exact same situation!

An exchange of motherboard does not correct the problem. It is to give you a new BIOS chip to tinker with.

  • Vostro 3500 BIOS update failed - need recovery procedure

I got a Vostro 3500 laptop computer work and was doing maintenance to update. I downloaded and installed the BIOS update recommended for this laptop... Dell Vostro 3500 system BIOS 3500 has 12. EXE | Release date of BIOS of Windows/DOS (3 MB) 21/07/2014 updated 21/07/2014 recommended BIOS update failed and left no work of BIOS of the computer. F2 is dead. It will not start. I am sure that there a backup BIOS or primitive still, as when I start the machine without battery and power, using the end key he's constantly trying to read the data from a 2 GB flash drive. I guess he wants to reload the BIOS from a file. I know how to get the ROM content from the file above using the /writeromfile parameter. The big question is, what type of file the 3500 wants to read, and what is the name of the file it is seeking? Is the flash player must be bootable? What is a FRIEND or a Phoenix BIOS? Can someone please? Thanks, Terry

Here's how to recover a flash update BIOS of your laptop Vostro 3500 failure...

    1. download the Dell BIOS update .exe file to a USB flash drive.

    2. run the .exe with the /writehdrfile parameter file

    3. run the .exe with the /writeromfile parameter file

    4. copy the .hdr winery50.hdr

    5. remove the battery and the power of the dead computer

6 Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the computer of the death

7 press and hold the end key and then connect the AC power

8 dead computer reads USB flash and request if the update should be performed

    9. let the update at the end and then restart.

    10. computer now works normally.

  • Re: Satellite A300D-15B - BIOS update failed and now I get a black screen

I've updated my laptop to run windows 7 instead of vista some time ago and my laptop was running, but the fan seems to stop working and I found that a BIOS update can fix this on this forum. The BIOS update has stopped responding partially through and I had to shut it down. I tried to run again, but he continued to come up with an error message. The laptop was working fine, but once I turned it on the next day I found that it is only responsible to a black screen. My laptop is out of warranty, but I thought I would send it out the hope for a decent price, but she came back with a cost of mounting A £400 for a replacement motherboard and price tag. Anyone know if these types of problems can be repaired without full replacement necessary?

Thanks to advanced to someone who can help :)

    Hello

You must contact an authorized in this case service provider. You should speak with the technicians because they try to reflash the ROM module where the BIOS is stored. This isn't expensive and it s worth a try! ;)

You can find a list of the ASP s here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

But in the worst case you need a new card of mother, but technicians must try to reflash the ROM module first

  • G6-2235us c2n50ua #aba Pavilion: Pavilion g6-2235us bios update failed - error msg at startup

I had hard time to upgrade to 8.1 Windows, so I made an update of the bios, as recommended by the HP Web Site, but it failed, and now the laptop will not boot.  It displays the error message "your computer must be repaired: \bcd, 0xc0000034... error code. "Additional info are available by pressing ESC, and I can't get into a black screen with options:

    F1 system information

    the F2 System Diagnostics

    F9 boot device options

    configuration of the BIOS F10

    F11 system recovery

I've been to the bottom of all of these tracks, with no luck on continue.  F10 shows me all the bios configuration screens and the version of the bios is F29, the version I tried to level to.

I tried to remove the big battery and pressing the start for a minute button - no joy.

    I tried now Windows + B + start - no joy

I guess I'm trying to create a USB key with the BIOS on this subject, and this is where I am confused.  The softpaq BIOS for this machine is sp66880.exe.  I've got that on an USB fat32 with the label of volume HP_Tools, and I've got HP tools on the stick too.  When I try to boot with the stick of pressing windows + b + start, the light on the USB flashes a lot, but in the end I get the message "the system bios recovery has failed. Could not open the bios image file.  I have a feeling that I don't have the correct configuration on this USB key.  I tried to run sp66880.exe on another computer, but he said that he will immediately Flash the bios, I really want to do (on my Toshiba laptop!).

I would be very happy any help you all can give me on how to create USB recovery key in the proper format.  Thanks in advance.

    Fixed!

It turns out that the update of the bios is really successful, but something in the hard disk boot files has been corrupted.  I got a USB key recovery Windows 8 on another machine and finagle around having HP laptop reformat the hard disk to the original factory State.  Fortunately, I made a very recent Macrium image until this most recent problem, so the next step is to restore this image.  With the new c F29 bios, I hope that this beast will finally go to Windows 8.1.

  • Said Dell Inspiron 7537 is tested on Windows 10 but the upgrade fails - black screen

    Hello all, Hello support,

Dell Backup software and restore proposed to me that I have upgraded to Windows 10. I like this idea.

I checked my ultrabook on the DELL Web site. Inspiron 7537 is tested (proudly said Dell) so I should be able to update my OS without flaw.

I did 2 upgrade to Windows 10 attempts, both failed in the same way.

It passes through several stages, but at some point, a black screen stuck and only power OFF button turns the laptop computer do something (disable). In the two attempts after 2 restarts, the installation process is back from my Windows 8.1 operating system

Why DELL say it is tested and I can't upgrade - turns-does not work.

I have not contacted the DELL forums on this subject (because the DELL technical support in my country told me it is Microsoft Business) If IT WAS NOT for THE FACT that DELL 'advertising' me Windows 10 and claims my laptop is ready to do the upgrade.

    Please help and explain.

    Thank you in advance.

    Martin

  • Envy 17-j130ea: HP Envy 17-j130ea do not have access to the BIOS recovery and black screen

    Hi people,

The laptop was waking up alone, so I decided to try to update the BIOS. Bis error. The tool has been run on 64 Win10

The HP tool left me with a black screen and after that I tried to hold the low win + B and the power to access the Bios recovery, but there is no nothing. Tone flashing, nothing.

I don't know if creating a flash drive with the bios will help as I don't have admin rights in another machine to create the flash drive using HP tool.

Any ideas? Flash player won't work if BIOS recovery is not pulled up?

    All ideas are welcome.

    See you soon

Well, I managed to solve the problem overnight without having to wait three days for anyone to answer that after the end of the week, with the following steps:

    1. I had to create a USB key with the bios by using the executable auto HP. It did not help that for some reason any that you have to have the administrator rights on a windows machine. Why aren't files available as well in a simple zip file? It would have helped a lot! Please stop HP right now provide only Autorun... it only compliates things. It took me an extra day just because I couldn't access a machine windows with administrator rights to install the executable file.

2 - Insert the memory stick with the bios in the dead computer.

3 - Press the Win + B and press the power button. The machine didn't do any beep or noise that all the guides say. I just kept pressing the key B + Win until I saw a recovery of the Bios screen, finally. Without the memory following stick this same step has not shown, nor does the computer make a noise or show any display, just died.

4 - wait for the update at the end.

My Advisor. Do not update windows, it all messed up. It is very reliable to get the memory stick. Too many windows things can interfere in the process, just don't do it from Windows, or at least create the memory stick first while you still can.

    Hello Sambo2

Please follow the steps outlined in the article below. If the problem persists, you may need the computer or their replacement.
The screen is blank after you start the computer

If an incorrect BIOS update is installed or if the update process is interrupted, the motherboard may be destroyed, leaving the computer unable to start.

However, although this may seem unlikely given that you just updated the BIOS, the problem could be related to a hardware component. During startup, the computer does the POST (Power On Self Test). If a problem occurs, it will usually indicate the problem through a series of beep codes. Instructions for POSITION are in the BIOS, and as such a bad BIOS could be the problem. Other components, however, are crucial to the POST as well. The processor performs and executes the instructions to perform the tests. If the processor is bad, you may not receive the beeps at all and the computer turn on just and nothing to do. The problem could also be related to food, do not provide good current or voltage components. Try the first article, and I would like to know if the problem persists.

  • Near brand new 7212NR BIOS update failed

My 7212NR want Dv7 no custom was delivered December 20, 2012.  The machine runs on 64-bit Windows 8.

Within two weeks, HP Support Assistant was alert "Critical BIOS update", the release of Goya/Balen 1.2 system BIOS, SP60050, Version F.22, 6.53 MB.

I used wizard helps initiate download and install it, at least 10 times.  Each time, the download appears to be over, and the installation came up to restart.  But restarting never ends, remains at the State of the switch with led power black screen.  No nothing thereafter, for a few minutes or hours.  Each time, I had to press the power switch, and the computer seems to cut off completely.  After a few seconds, I have to press the power switch and start the computer to the decent top normally.  But apparently the BIOS Setup has not ended, and HP Support Assistant continues the same alert.

I've updated the other SW updates by HP Support Assistant alerts and for those who do restart after the installation, restart ends and the computer comes back to on State.

Is the failure to update the BIOS, a problem of the last update of the BIOS of Goya/Balen himself package or a more general problem of the system?

I checked your support page and at least the HPSA is to find the correct BIOS. In some cases, he finds the one evil _ and of course it will not be installed. When it comes to an update of the BIOS always go to the support page and do it yourself, let not the HPSA do for you.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-113555-1&CC=US&DLC=en&LC=en&os=4132&Product=5309489&sw_lang=

Allows to check and see which version you are using now.

Type system information in the search box and click on that _ a list will appear.

In my case, I'm under F.15 version, if you run F.22 then the HPSA pushes a false positive.

If you run F.13, then save the BIOS file on the desktop and run it from there, not in a temporary folder. Disconnect whatever it is the laptop and leave only the adapter plugged in with the battery in place.

Click on the saved BIOS file and follow its instructions. Let him finish (do not touch the laptop so that it refreshes and make sure that the WiFi button is activated, but disconnect from the internet by disabling your modem)

The laptop must close when it's done and after that the light hard drive shows no activity more let stand for at least 3 minutes before starting the system.

After all this I hope that this will keep quiet the HPSA.

Note that I'm not on a W8 machine now so I can't remember where the search box is W8, but if you go to the applications page and right click on that, a button will appear in the right lower corner All the Apps , I think the search box should be there.

So I'm on a W8 machine now and I have no idea where Microsoft has put in the search box, what I found does not work.

Go to the control panel and find Administrative Tools , click on that and information system will be in this list.
