T500 takes 15 minutes to boot after bios update

symptoms:
It takes about 10 or so minutes to reach the thinkpad press f1 to set up the screen, after that it gives me a screen that tells ME is initializing, it is after an update of the bios and later roll back bios. two updates to the bios give me the same result. functions of sleep also seems to not work, once im in my t500 windows works normally.

what I did:
In addition to rolling back the drivers Ive unplugged / replugged the cmos battery and off AMT. Ive also ensured that all my drivers are up to date.

machine is a performer of 2081-cto on win7

someone has an idea of what I can do? I still have a warranty but I would like to fix myself so I don't have the time.

  • Satellite A135-S2356 won't boot after BIOS update

I have Toshiba A135-S2356 and am having the same problem.
Mine started to do after I was I had problems with only 2 of my usb ports work.

I saw a topic on it and there was a link to update the system bios, http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Technology/My-Satellite-A135-S2356-is-having-USB-port-issues/m-p/17285, through this site.

I clicked on the link and downloaded the update. Once I clicked on install the computer froze and I couldn't restart at all. The only way was for me to take the battery. Once I have the battery in I tried to return to power and that's when this current question has started to happen.

If the update of bios fried my hard drive?

When the BIOS update is interrupted for some reason any of the BIOS chip will be damaged and result starting laptop doesn t at all.
I'm afraid of nothing that you can do everything alone. :(

  • Cannot boot after BIOS update

Hi, I recently bought a laptop Inspiron 5000 series, and because the touchpad control was just horrible I did a check for updates and upgrades. The update includes an update of the BIOS I plugged the laptop and ran the update. When it restarts, it failed. All I see is a boot failure:

The family Realtek PCIe controller error. Media Test failure UNDI. No found boot device.

I couldn't do a safe boot, but when I tried to get around the boot legacy and UEFI boot it will start.

I am quite unhappy that a BIOS update (version 1.1.9 was the old version and 1.2.2 was new) caused this. The laptop is only 4 weeks old if I want to get this resolved.

    What should I do?

You need not Mech system program.  This is what DellCares told me to do it on Twitter:

Turn on the machine, key to tap F2 on startup Dell logo, it takes you to the BIOS screen. Go to the "Startup" tab, select "start list Options", change the option to "Legacy" to "UEFI".  Restart the machine, it should load correctly in Windows.

    -----

I must point out that many others on twitter had already told me to try the same thing.  A person has explained why this has happened.  He said upgrading the BIOS changed the start to the legacy option when we UEFI.  Enter the BIOS and change this back solved the problem, so he's probably right.

  • Notebook G71 won to boot after BIOS update on HP site

I just updated the BIOS on my notebook G71... I downloaded the update from the HP site and it has been updated V20 to V23.

After the update, the system became an automatic restart and now it does not move before the initial startup screen that shows HP and "ESC to return to the Start Menu" logo at the bottom. I tried the ESC key, but nothing past then is except that it says "esc... pause start." Nothing anyway. Now I can't reboot my system and it is dead. Help, please. Steve

Unplug the power cord, remove the battery, hold the power button for a total of 30 seconds, connect AC only, see if it will load windows now.

  • Re: Tecra S10 G11, extremely slow boot after BIOS update to 3.00

My laptop was working fine until I updated the BIOS to 3.00. It takes a lot of time to start all the trunk was support (disk, CDROM,...). Once I have selected the bootable media, the screen goes black with a white blinking cursor for about 5 to 10 minutes, then loads windows normally and everything works perfectly.
I think the decommissioning of the bios, but I can't find older versions.
    Kind regards

    Hello

Only a newer version of BIOS is available on the European driver Toshiba page
So, if you need an earlier version; contact a local ASP.

However, I recommend to access the BIOS and to set the default settings.
Perhaps it is necessary to get the Mobile QuickStart

    Good luck

  • Satellite L300 refuses to boot after BIOS update

    Hello

L300 my girlfriend was terribly dragged so we decided to format C:. We did it with the XP restore disc that came with it.

Then we had to update the drivers. We started the installation of upgrading the BIOS on Toshiba driver site, disappeared for a while and when we returned, the computer has restarted itself.

He has been stuck in a cycle of the screen "loading windows" and one with a lower bar that says press F2 for this or F12 for this. Tried all the options in the start menu, not even safe mode works.

We have tried to reformat with the previous method, by inserting the XP CD and by holding down the 'C' button when starting. We get the familiar "Windows Setup" screen, and it seems to load all the files from the CD windows installation. But when we come to the installation, we get a blue screen error message. "A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer...". Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D254, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Nothing seems to work, please help! We really want to save the images on the disk D: partition.

    Hello

Try to configure the BIOS to the default settings.
You need to access the BIOS, and there you can set the default value.
Please check if you can install the operating system by using the-> AHCI and compatible SATA mode.
If you are using AHCI to include the SATA drivers. If you are using compatibility mode, then SATA drivers are not necessary.

If you want to get access to the HARD disk before you install the operating system in the C partition, then I would recommend to start the laptop using a Windows Live CD WinPE and BartPe.
Both are live CD what don t need an installation, you must boot from this drive only to access to content on the HARD drive.

    ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901<--- this="" is="" the="" unknown="" device="" after="" bios="" update="" to="" 5.10="" on="" my="" satellite="" a100-153="">

Vista now shows it in as unknown device manager; the TOS1900 showed up too, but after installation of Toshiba Value Pack for Vista, it went.

    Help, please. WHICH IS: ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

  • Optilplex 790 takes 5 minutes to boot XP PRO

Our new Optiplex 790 seems to freeze for about 3 minutes, during boot right after Windows XP PRO logo screen appears. The screen goes black and stay like that for several minutes. After that, he comes back to life and seems to work ok. I tried all the usual stuff with no improvement. We have added 2 NIC cards and deleted the USB, other than that, no angels DRC memory card reader. Any ideas?

Tried all the simple stuff, like nothing helps BIOS settings. The "fix" was to recreate the image the HD Hated to do because it's a pain to reload all the apps and new software license. Never feel good about fixing something that way without knowing/understanding the root cause. Guess I learned how it is important to restore CD.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8E: Cannot boot from USB after Bios Update

    Hello

I downloaded the latest bios (v6) for my satellite a100 (psaa8e) and after the update of the old bios, I noticed that I can not boot from USB. Is there a way to restore the old bios or will this problem solved?

    See you soon
    MB

And before you can update the BIOS you were able to start the bootable CD from the external optical drive USB drive facilities?

To be honest I really don't believe it. Try to connect USB FDD and you will see that the FDD is recognized and you will be able to use it as first boot device.

After the bios update, try to resolve everything by default, and then save. Then change the settings of date back to the time you have not yet updated to the bios. Save and exit.

Because you don't want to initialize the network try to disable it in the bios.

  • OptiPlex 990 no boot after BIOS flash

I have an OptiPlex 990 that several problems after a power surge, so I replaced the power supply, motherboard and installed a new hard drive. Once I had everything back together, I booted the system and tried to upgrade to the latest version of the BIOS, A19.

The guest said that he would replace X 17 with A19.  During this process, an error prompted me A05 must be installed first. I have done this and received a "Bios Update Successful" message. but the PC does not restart. After having playing with removal of the cards it is not POST, just restarts a few times then crashes. I can get it to start by clearing the CMOS by removing the battery, but once I leave the configuration or trying to run diagnostics or boot from a disk of BONE, the machine just restarts and crashes with the numbers 2, 3 and 4 illuminated by a blue LED power.

Any ideas as to what I can try running to call it dead as well and get an another motherboard?

    Thank you

Dell made revisions of boards for the same model, if the parts are no longer available, if they find or fix a problem, etc. Dell will only know for sure the real differences between these two boards.

Have you checked your USB devices?

What happens if you start from a bootable CD/DVD as your Windows Dell reinstall drive?

The replacement card came with a guarantee? You could go back to the seller and ask for a replacement or a refund...
