T60p HDD

Dear all,

I have 8473CTO, 100 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive. I want to upgrade the HARD drive.

What is maximum capacity HDD I could update with no problems.

Thank you

Yogi

any disk hard sata 2.5 inch 9.5 mm thick will work. I think that the most important in this format is approximately 750 GB (640 GB is available in this format).

but quite simply, you won't get any benefit from the SATA II drive interface speed

You forgot NCQ. As a result, SATA-2 is more preferable.

  • Swap HDD T60p

Hello I just got a new one for me T60P less the hard drive and the door. I am currently using a R51, if I get the basket? can I use my current hard drive or do I buy a new one?

You're not sure if the connectors of the space?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    LvNative, welcome to the forum,

Unfortunately you will not be able to use your R51 drive; It's a P - ATA (IDE) hard drive and the T60p requires a S - ATA drive so you will have to buy a new one.  All S - ATA 2.5 "with 9mm height in the car will be fine, you'll need the cage (caddy) and also rubber and door rails and get everthing tight fit."

The next bit of bad news is that prices have almost quadrupled in the last mount because of the flooding in Thailand, in car make sure you shop diligently.

  • The Ultrabay HDD detection.

    Hello

I recently bought a hard drive adapter Ultrabay 2nd for my T60p and a Seagate Momentus 7200 (ST9250421ASG) and problems with the detection and hotswapping.

Currently, the hard drive will be detected only when the disk is in the Bay during the cold start. If I swap the drive when the machine is running, it will not even turn up. The two HDD LED turns on and remains on until I swap the disk again. Since the drive is not spinning upwards, I'm guessing there are problems with providing enough power. I can swap in the optical drive at any time without problem, even after Exchange entry and release of the album "dysfunctional."

Using the same card, I tried a Hitachi drive which worked flawlessy.

This problem is currently the point moot hotswapping for me.

    I * now have a solution.

    (a) I added a rider to limit the hard drive to SATA 1.5 GB/s interface speed (this may be unnecessary). For my drive, it's the pair half size of pines.

    (b) I installed a firmware update I found the dells support page - making cross-updates to date with the firmware is dangerous, that's why I hesitated. If you decide to try it, good luck. If you find yourself with a brick... I warned you

The revision of the car passed under SD13 to 17 for me. This is the second time a seagate hard drive has failed me. I avoid them now.

What I discovered in the meantime, problems as described in my original message can result from power a) management issues (as I suppose here), b) passes records (need to unlock before being accessible - linux a hdparm for this) or speed c) SATA interface quirks (which need a rider to force them to 1.5 GB/s drives.

I wish you good luck with things that I discovered the long way

  • Recovery of the T60 DVDs are compatible to T60p?

    Hello

I have two cell phones, everything first is Thinkpad T60 (2007-FSG) and second is T60p (8741-C3G). Problem is that T61p has WinXP preinstalled. I was intending to do a recovery DVDs of T60 and then restore in T61p. Is this ok? Is it compatible?

    Thank you

The CD does not work in the other system, but if you put the hard drive the T61p in Bay drive T60 and recovery of the T60 media allows to restore the hard drive in the T60 then it would work.

After the loading of the operating system and service partition remove the HDD the T60 and then put in your T60p/T61p then it probably looks like the setting on the laptop has changed and OS needs to be recharged, you can then enter the work recovery partition during startup by pressing the blue thinkvantage button and select recover as long as the plant. Then it would work, but he can ask the serial number, you'd have the other machine. Once the OS finished loading, you will need to download the drivers concerned from Lenovo.com, since the recovery media loaded mainly the series pilots T60.

  • SSD of Kingston is destroyed by T60p (error of initialization of 2100)

It is a very known error when you try to upgrade the disk hard thinkpad to SSD.

    The SSD, I bought is Kingston SSDNow V100 Series SV100S2N/64GZ 2.5 "64GB which is this a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139421
My thinkpad is T60p 2007CTO. After using this SSD for 1 month with no problems, I got the error message when I restart the system "2100: hdd0 initialization error (1).
My system is Windows 7 Professional.

This error for me, triggered by plugging the ThinkPad series ATA Hard Drive Bay with a Seagate Momentus 500 G HDD internal.
Before that, I used the Thinkpad IDE Hard Drive Bay for a long time.
I'm not sure of making the problem device. Drive hard Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay or Seagate Momentus 500 G?

I tried to upgrade the BIOS without success. I also tried to put this SSD in external USB driver and plug it in Windows 7, Windows XP and Linux. Linux can see the partitions, but cannot format or mount them. I don't see this SSD drive using the Windows Disk Manager. Sometimes Ican see the disc in Windows Explorer, but still cannot read the data in it.

I read a lot of posts before asking for help. Now, I JUST want to save my hard drive SSD.

Any suggestion or solution would be very appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Please let us know how you arrived at this modesty, because many of us have used SSD in ThinkPads because firstly, they became available...

I'm not sure of making the problem device. Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay or Seagate Momentus 500G hard drive

None of the above. You just had no luck with the particular SSD, period. If it's under warranty, it should be replaced by Kingston.

No matter what people would like to believe, SSD are not lacking, even the brand-name-dear... history of TPF some time ago:

  • Upgrade hard drive T60p

I have a T60p with a 100 GB hard drive.  Is it possible to upgrade to a disc of concert of 200-250? It would affect the extended warranty that I have?  How I transfer all the partitioning and special software?  Could I install the drive of 100Gig existing in the Ultra hold?

More large currently available HDD is 320 GB, you can buy it from SME (very cheap go to MSY.COM) for about $110 to 120. If your 100 concert can be used when buying a Ultrabay Slim SATA drive adapter. All your partition can be transferred using Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image.

  • Hard drive with T60p compatibility

    Hello everyone

I was wondering if the following hard drive is compatible with my T60P 2623-DDU

    Lenovo 45N7021 PN

    ASM PN 45N7254

    FRU PN 45N7255

    Hitachi HTS725032A9A364

It is supported by the Active Protection System?

    Thank you

    Ovidiu

I just create the recovery media under the thinkvantage set, 2 disc set for XP or 3 disks for Vista.

Then came out the old hdd of 80 GB and plugged the new drive bought from a computer store and reinstalled the recovery partition and BONES (completed in a single step, just follow on the line of the screen), and 40 minutes later, everything is done.

No firmware flashing is necessary, straight plug-and-play.

  • MacBook Pro 13 "(mid-2012) do not recognize all internal HDD or SSD

Hello, I have this very annoying problem with my Macbook Pro 13 "mid-2012.

Two days ago he suddenly shows the ""folder with a question mark gray ' screen. " Reading online, I saw that many have had this problem in the past and that usually to fix just do this:

-Restart the Mac, press Cmd + R, then the utility disk, check and repair the drive.

I tried, but there was any Macintosh HD. There is rather a "disk0' with a score of"Mac OS X Base System.

I tried also this, without success:

-Remove the HARD drive and using an "all in 1 HDD Docking Station" try opening the hard drive of another Mac. It says that can not open the disk but I can erase it (did not, I still hope to recover data in the future with some software).

-I already upgrade my Macbook Pro with an SSD, thinking about my drive HARD has been compromised, I bought a Samsung SSD 750 EVO (250 GB) and I replaced the HARD drive.

-J' have formatted the SSD format "Mac OS X Extended (journaled)" and, from another Mac, created a boot USB with El Capitan installer disc.

Then, with the SSD instead of HARD drive, I did all these things:

-Start the Mac, press Option, start the USB key. But no "Macintosh SSD" has been shown when comes to decide where to install El Capitan.

At this point, I was very confused and tried the last chance:

-Start the mac without internal drive but with the SSD in the docking station. Boot from USB and try to install El Capitan on the SSD. And it worked!

But stil does not work when I put the SSD inside the Macbook. Is possible whether the Sata cable who, from one day to the other, stop working?

    PS:

I tried also Reset of the MSC and the Apple Hardware Test extended, giving "No problem found".

I also tried to unplug the Sata cable connectors and clean the cable with a handkerchief, then incredibly SSD Macintosh appeared at the start of the USB, but installation failed at some point. And next time, I tried the SSD disappeared again.

This problem is driving me crazy and I hope someone can help with suggestions. Thank you

  • iMac SSD & HDD

    Hello

I'm looking to install a SSD Samsung Eco 2 TB and a normal digital black among Westerners of 6 TB HDD, can I ask people their advice? I try to have ssd as my boot drive and the 6 TB for backup and the files.

    (a) problems with the selected material

    (b) it is useful, wise money for example I should save a little more and buy a new iMac

    (c) are there alternatives

looking to make a TI takes forever to go start cold.

I have a mid 2011 iMac i7 (12,2) with the last what OS X installed.

    Cheers in advance,

RK based in the United Kingdom

The major issue that you will have is that the 2011 iMac is not a disk controller capable of working with a 3 to or more large internal drive. Furthermore, what is the point of this large an SSD? If the Samsung Eco models are cheaper SSD, while they are cheaper because they are made with older chips may not correspond to current levels of performance. Do you really need a 2 TB SSD for a boot disk? A smaller and better quality SSD may be a better choice.

  • How to write to HDD Ext

So I have an Ext HDD that has been formatted in windows. However, when I'm using a mac and drag / drop files it is not written. The funny thing is, when I use another mac, it reads and writes files very well, so I'm able to drag-and - drop without problem. I can't have this problem on a computer that tries im of files to back up. Any idea what is the problem?

Install software such as Paragon NTFS on the Mac who is unable to write to it.

  • How to sync iTunes with iTunes ext HDD iMac?

    Hello

I can't afford to buy the 256 GB MacBook Air, then I'm the one with only 128 GB.

When I launched my iTunes, I pressed down option and select the external HARD disk where I put all the songs.

Songs in iTunes external HDD has been copied from my iTunes on my iMac.

So, how can I synchronize my iTunes in my iMac with the iTunes on my external HARD drive?

    Thank you

What do you mean "iTunes sync in my Mac?"  You say that you no longer use the library in your computer (iTunes' incidentally is the only application), what is there to sync (and once again 'sync' has a very specific meaning of transferring the elements to and from a mobile device)?

  • The distribution of applications and data between the disk SSD and HDD

I recently installed an SSD in my Macbook Pro (late 2011) instead of the DVD player. I want to install OS X on it, by replacing the current OS X on the original hard disk, I will continue to use for storing files. How should I allocate its use in car? OS X and applications on the data files on the hard disk of 500 GB and SSD?

The first series of instructions will partition and format the newly installed SSD disk then install OS X on it. The second block will help you configure OS X on the SSD with your data on the HARD drive.

Clean Install of El Capitan on a new disc

    1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime, press Command + Option + R until a globe appears.
    2. The Utility Menu appears in 5 to 20 minutes. Be patient.
    3. Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
    4. When loading disk utility, select the drive (generally, the entry Out-bumpy) in the list aside.
    5. Click the Partition tab in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
    6. Set the GUID partition scheme.
    7. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    8. Click on the apply button, then click the fact when it is active.
    9. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
    10. Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.
