T60p - widescreen - Matt

I have a T60p with a 15.4 screen ".  It's a few years

Product C9U-8744

The left and the right side is darker than the middle. With no AC connected, the screen is even duller... It is a question of the inverter for the screen not able to drive the backlight... or is the screen that is "worn"... I wonder if it's worth replacing the screen... It also looks that if I leave it on AC for 1/2 hour... the screen "brighten" a little... .but not as much as I expected. The text is nice and strong... it's just the edges dark allong the screen that is the question... it's worse on the sides... the bottom of the screen is the brightest.

Appreciate the comments on this...

This is usual the aging process of backlight, it would fail eventually completely, you can always get about 6 months to 12 months of normal use of this (guess you use everyday for about 4 hours so).

Basically you need a new LCD Panel.

    Hello

I put t know the part number, but as far as I know that you need a * 12.1 WXGA (1280 x 800) widescreen mast *.
Generally any Widescreen Matte 12.1 WXGA (1280 x 800) should be compatible with Portege R600.

Lenovo T60p Widescreen; Windows XP; direct connection to the gigabit switch

Driver cable; 20/04/06; 9.2.50.0 (before the upgrade TVT)

Wireless driver; Atheros; 12/13/06; 6.02.75 (before the upgrade TVT)

-It is that this laptop connects only to 100 MB instead of 1 GB via wired connection.

-Initially thought it was somehow to do with IE, because TI o/s behaved slowly until I killed the process IE

    Rebooted - no difference

A ran full TVT updates, including BIOS and not restarted - no difference

Question: what gives with LAN speed 100 MB vs. 1 GB single connection - it worked OK before.

Note: The things I kept my eye on are Symantec Antivirus; Symantec Firewall; Internet Explorer, but LAN speed is confusing.

My apologies if this has been resolved somewhere else and please ask questions of me to clarify anything.

    Thank you.

This chalk up to my alter ego - Dopus Maximus.

I checked the wiring and found that the user has connected a 100MB switch on the wall socket - which is connected to a switch of 1 GB.  This explains the drop in speed.

  • How to find the latest BIOS for my T60P?

    Dear Experts,

I own a 2007FBG T60P I love to do it again works like a charm. I am interested in downloading the latest version of the BIOS but, unfortunately, 'my' type of model is not listed on the Lenovo Web site:

It would be much appreciated if someone showed me the way to the most recent and correct BIOS for my T60P.

  • Dead 2623d8u t60p do what model of motherboard, I need?

Hello, I have a T60P 2623d8u with video firegl 5200 and 4 GB of ram. It was an impressive machine, but it crapped finally out. He would not light up when it is plugged in, when the battery is removed or added just quite dead etc. I tried to push the thing of frankenstart power button to eliminate the static energy, but it was a no go. I checked the voltage adapter, as well as the relocation of memory, hard drive, battery cmos etc. nothing worked.

I was happy with it for a long time and would like to just replace the motherboard. What motherboard model number needs and it is expandable somehow?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about your T60p.

The only 'upgrade' in the conventional sense of the term would be a motherboard with graphics card V5250 leave a model later T60p.

However, you can install a plan of 14 "(4:3 non-widescreen) T61/p that would use 8 GB of RAM and more modern CPU."

It is much simpler to just buy a 14 '' T61/p and keep other parts unit, but that's just my opinion.

    Good luck.

  • SSD of Kingston is destroyed by T60p (error of initialization of 2100)

It is a very known error when you try to upgrade the disk hard thinkpad to SSD.

    The SSD, I bought is Kingston SSDNow V100 Series SV100S2N/64GZ 2.5 "64GB which is this a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139421
My thinkpad is T60p 2007CTO. After using this SSD for 1 month with no problems, I got the error message when I restart the system "2100: hdd0 initialization error (1).
My system is Windows 7 Professional.

This error for me, triggered by plugging the ThinkPad series ATA Hard Drive Bay with a Seagate Momentus 500 G HDD internal.
Before that, I used the Thinkpad IDE Hard Drive Bay for a long time.
I'm not sure of making the problem device. Drive hard Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay or Seagate Momentus 500 G?

I tried to upgrade the BIOS without success. I also tried to put this SSD in external USB driver and plug it in Windows 7, Windows XP and Linux. Linux can see the partitions, but cannot format or mount them. I don't see this SSD drive using the Windows Disk Manager. Sometimes Ican see the disc in Windows Explorer, but still cannot read the data in it.

I read a lot of posts before asking for help. Now, I JUST want to save my hard drive SSD.

Any suggestion or solution would be very appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Please let us know how you arrived at this modesty, because many of us have used SSD in ThinkPads because firstly, they became available...

None of the above. You just had no luck with the particular SSD, period. If it's under warranty, it should be replaced by Kingston.

  • How can I put the inner workings of the T60P?

Salvation; I have an old T60P who unfortunately getting wet and stopped working.

The company I sent for repairs he had said he needed a new Board of Directors, which would cost £500. I'm not sure I trust them, but I can't deny that the laptop does not work.

I love the screen on the laptop, in particular the 4:3 aspect ratio (I am disgusted that you can get only 16:9 now), so I wonder if it is possible to modernize it with a newer processor and so forth. I remember years ago see a German site where they did exactly this with T60Ps and other Thinkpad models, but I can't find them and I don't know to what extent they would be able to take it.

So is this a desperate dream and I will settle for 16:9 (arrow)?

Besides even if I can't make it faster is there anywhere that I could buy a new card for a reasonable price? I'm sure that I could adapt.

    Thank you.

Oh, I would certainly save this machine... OMG, Yes!

    The basics:

    (a) you can use any motherboard T60p of 14 "or 15" screen standard unit (4:3 aspect ratio), whether the earlier with ATi GPU 5200 or the last with V5250. Advice of 15.4 "widescreen units will NOT fit.

    (b) assuming one of the panels of the aforementioned is used, you can upgrade the processor Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.0 Ghz), T7400 (2.13) or T7600 (2.26 Ghz).

    (c) you can also use a motherboard from a 14 ' 4:3 (non-large) T61/p units, but there are three caveats:

    (1) it is not truly plug-and-play. Some tinkering is needed, you will lose a modem in the process, a little pain.

    (2) If you go with the Board of Directors which has the Intel integrated graphics, video performance will not match what you are used to.

    (3) nVidia GPU used T61/p are subject to failure, so good graphics performance comes at a price to have a time bomb in your laptop.

If the machine was mine, I'd go with the jury T61 with Intel integrated graphics, but I don't really do anything that it is focused on the chart. I would never go with an nVidia GPU, but that's me.

    Good luck.

  • DVD Maker burn only video widescreen 4:3, regardless of the report parameter l / h

I use DVD Maker and you have imported a widescreen in avi format video.  No matter if I put the image 4:3 or 16:9 format DVD, it burns video part 4:3 anyway. The menu displays in 16:9, the preview plays in a 16:9 frame, menu burn in 16:9, but the video is burned in an image full screen complete with very large and skinny people!
The other parameters are NTSC and start in the menu.
What happened with a newer version of the beta version of Windows7 and now between professional.

Windows DVD Maker has a design aspect ration fault.

I created a DVD using opinion with 16 x 9 aspect ratio. When played on a DVD player connected to a 16 x 9 TV, it looks fine, but when played on a 4 x 3 TV, the video is wrinkled rather than Letterbox or cropped. Surprisingly, the DVD seems to substitute for TV or DVD settings. I created several DVDs more with different parameters and the results are always the same - test on 4 DVD players and two televisions. Then, I created a DVD with 16 x 9 and 4 x 3 content content. Not only were the 16 x 9 crushed on the set of 4 x 3, but video 4 x 3 has been extended across the 16 x 9! Yet once, either the TVs juggle parameters during the process of creating or viewing options or four DVD players has changed the results. In all cases content was stretched or crushed to fill the screen. The DVD created using Roxio Creator 9 (or similar software) with identical clips do NOT have this problem. The DVD resulting does NOT substitute devices that they are played on. I do not think that any new software should be less functional that many softwares for years, do you think?

Calogero suggestion that 'when deciding what image format to choose, consider the aspect ratio for the monitor or TV on which your slide show will be ironed' is absurd. Firstly, we are not talking slideshow - we could care less if the slides in the menu are the correct proportions - we don't talk video. Then, suppose you want to create a DVD to give to dozens or hundreds of friends and family for the holidays. You're supposed to find the type of TV each recipient? This is ridiculous. If I have 4 x 3 TV sets now but plan to get the big screen 6 months from now, you want me to redo each disc? Have you already bought or rented a DVD you have to tell them if you had a TV big screen, so they could decide what DVD to give you? Most importantly, determine what type of TV will be used does not change the fact that no amount of fiddling with the settings have an impact on this issue. The only choice you are using other software or use only 4 x 3 to be played on a 4 x 3 TV clips and clips of 16 x 9 to be played on a large tv screen.

First will work with and export no matter what resolution you tell her.  What the audience of the exported video?  You expect only to play on a surround sound setup as well?  If this isn't the case, it will appear very strange for people with only 1 Panel.

  • Normal vs DVD NTSC widescreen

    Hello

I'm using version CS4 of Encore and first on Windows 7.  My question is: How can I tell that my DVD project is 'standard' width or "widescreen"?  Or even just deduce that the proportions of my calendar?  And if so, what happens if I have several timelines with different proportions, or a timeline with an aspect ratio is not 4:3 or 16:9?

And the aspect ratio does really matter?  Is the format of the pixels (RAP) coded in the DVD resulting, or user stuck to juggle television controls to adjust the proportions of the image compared to the proportions of the TV screen?

Here is some information on where I'm going with this question: if I understand things, the NTSC DVDs are always 720 x 480.  But they can be either 'standard' (BY = 0.91) width or "widescreen" (PAR = 1.21).  In other words, a wide screen TV is quite normal TV with large pixels.  So, if I go with my old camcorder, 4:3 video, I probably want to transcode with NORMAL = 0.91, and I want to display the DVD resulting in the 'standard' width (or with black borders on the sides on a "widescreen" TV).  However, if I have a HD 16:9 camera video so I want to transcode with NORMAL = 1.21, and I want to display the DVD resulting with black borders top and bottom to the 'standard' width or fill the entire screen on Cree top television 'wide-screen '.

I found no parameters in yet that allow me to play with these settings.  Select file/Edit quality Presets shows the export settings dialog box, but the MPEG2-DVD presets make clear how they deal with the PARs.

    TIA - Bob

    Hi just return, Bob.

Just to add to what has already been said... Wide screen could have the same pixel considered as 4:3, but they are coded differently so you get horizontal additional information. If not correctly interpreted you get 'Danny DeVito Syndrome' or 'cinémascope Syndrome' function in what way you are gone - I see far too many TV systems set up for 4:3, 16:9, so everyone seems short & fat, and we used to see the opposite in CRT 4:3 days when cinemascope films were shown with all the world looking about 15 "tall and incredibly thin. It is surprising that people get used to it.

It's not really standard TV with a problem of weight... it just seems like it, and this is where the confusion can easily set if not careful.

Because still is a layer of abstraction tool, there is no need to worry about such things, as long as the film imported as assets are correctly interpreted before compiling your DVD/Blu-Ray (who uses square pixels, and various different resolutions are legal, so it's VERY confusing).

This is simple, fairly well - in the list of assets of your project, make a right click the film & under "film" make the correct settings (in first Pro CS5 is in a subsection of "Edit > film") for PAL/NTSC/4:3 / 16:9 options. You can monitor the changes that you make to them in the source monitor too.

    .

Your options are to or use the format of the header of the file, or force it to something else. In most cases, you must use the ratio of the file, unless dealing with non-standard assets in which case these should take a detour to Premiere Pro first bring them to DVD compatible ratios.

It is because even if still will allow you to import non-conforming goods, I've always found it is a serious mistake and a load of hassle delayed and who still works better & more firmly when fed with only DVD compliant assets.

    Hope this helps

No matter what I do, the search engines in the toolbar by default return Yahoo! Remove all but Google does not help. When you restart Firefox Yahoo is the default value. Similarly, new tabs and the home page back to Yahoo after the reopening. This is a new laptop HP with Windows 10 and I just downloaded Firefox. I spent a lot of time trying to solve this problem and about to give up and to switch browsers. I bet that Chrome will allow me to use Google.

Generally, changes in parameters are retained between reboots. If you change other preferences such as your home page, Firefox manages to retain those between reboots?

We have an article of general support on issues that may lead to changes to get lost between sessions: How to fix preferences that will not save.

    Two other thoughts:

    (1) some software utility/security/life private changes the folder of Firefox settings between sessions. This includes Advanced SystemCare and various programs 'homepage protection' or "browsing protection" feature. If you have any software with a similar feature, disable it until everything is set as you want and stable.

    (2) you might check all the extensions that could possibly change the settings when you start Firefox. You can do this on the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right side. On a new installation, it is usually empty, unless Firefox has detected the extensions that already exist on your system. Something unexpected?

  • I used 'Customize Firefox' to change toolbars show, and now the Firefox Customize, tab keeps appearing no matter how many times I close.

The window customize Firefox and tab guard popping open at seemingly random times. This continues to be no matter how many times I close.

One possible reason is that if it was added as a second 'Home tab' in which case it will be displayed in each new window (Ctrl + n) and every time that you click the Home button.

To verify that you can use the page Options, as described in this article: start-up, homepage, tabs and download settings.

Look for a vertical bar character at the heart of the area that separates the two addresses. A simple example with short URLS:

    https://www.mozilla.org/|about:customizing

The bar certainly can be hard to spot with long URLs, but when you find it, delete everything to the right of the bar, then the bar itself (I suggest to remove the last bar so things don't accidentally get it together).
