T61p wireless connectivity very slow

My T61p seems to be very slow on my home network. I have other laptop (dell) that works on my home network, and it doesn't seem to have problems. I also have another system phone e.g. a DECT 6.0 device in my house. My bandwidth test reports > 5Mbps. I tried a few things mentioned in another post http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=8902 , but even that didn't help much. The wireless seems to work fine at work . no idea how to fix this or even solve this?

OK... I have installed the updates available thinkvantage, facts in so that the wireless profiles are configured for maximum performance and that did the trick. Speed a lot better now. Thanks to the members of the forum for assistance.

You do not receive a download for an Ethernet cable.

Make sure you have the right cable

And go to the site of the Modem Manufactutrer'e and are looking for the latest version of the Firmware/software for the modem.

Or if it's the drivers for your network adapter you are referring to:

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

The computer you are using now if you have an Internet connection with the other > download / save drivers > copy them into Flash Drive > transfer / install on another computer/laptop.

  • WRT54GL: Fast cable internet connection; very slow wireless

I have been chasing a problem for months and I am at the end of my mind.

I started with a cable modem Motorola SB5101 and Buffalo bison wrt-hp-g54.  For years, we had a (intermittent) desperately slow wireless connectivity.  Recently I started to run through Speakeasy.NET speed tests to try to find a motive.

Wire speed is consistently running 15-16 Mbit/s, compatible with the speed promised our cable package.

Wireless speeds were a different matter.  From multiple computers, they would sometimes as soon as the wire speed; then all of a sudden (from all wireless computers) the speed would fall to 0.5 Mbit/s or less, then the speed measured on our single wired computer remained at 15 Mbps.

Restart the router would mitigate the problem for a while, and then the wireless would fall up to 0.5 Mbps.

Wire speed would remain stable at the nominal 15 Mbit/s.

Well, looked like a bad router.  I replaced it with a WRT54GL hardware version 1.1.  I've updated the firmware to the last - v4.30.16.

I selected a channel (2) wireless network what inSSIDer 3 watch is not used by any neighboring router (i.e., no interference).  I have that checked regularly and am sure that interference is not the problem.  The router is configured for the wireless G only; WPA - AES.

The same problem occurs with the new Linksys router.

In desperation I replaced the old modem SB5101 with a new SB6141 cable, not believing there could be everything possible that could help but, this what the devil - we will eliminate it as a factor as possible and go to DOCSIS 2.0 to DOCSIS 3.0.

    The problem persists.

Thus, new router, cable modem brand new, constant wire-speed, without strong signals wireless, channel interference all around. but the problem persists. There has been no improvement on the old hardware I used.

All computers, but a (XP Pro) is running Windows 7 Pro.

The problem is not predictable, except that the speed degradation will happen sooner or later - and this is not progressive.  Suddenly, he fell like a stone and sticks to 0.4 to 0.5 Mbits/sec.  Reboot the router (usually) will fix it for a while, and sometimes it will clear up on its own, given enough time.

I ran inSSIDer several times while this is happening, but he sees no other no signal on the channel I use--in fact, none on adjacent channels either.

I checked from wireless to the router table and there is no other than our device, so it does not appear that the network has been hacked.

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on or suggest an action plan?

The only thing I can think is that there is something between the router and the computers wireless in the House which is eating up 95% of the bandwidth wireless - a sort of voting out of control.  But what?  I'm completely stuck.

Follow-up.  I changed the channel 1 wireless; After doing some research I realized that sharing a channel (as long as your signal is at least 20 dB louder) causes fewer conflicts overlapping channels.  I have not changed anything else.  I'm tempted to allow the break-up of the frame but implementation of that seems to be somewhat specific to the supplier so I'll let it be.  In any event the wireless speed now as fast as the wire speed.

The result is that since the re - install the Linksys firmware and do a hard reset that I saw not a single instance of the speed problem.  So I still don't know exactly what caused in the first place, but I'm glad that the problem has disappeared, so I'll just let things be.

    Thank you!

  • Wireless connection is slower than the hard line on WRT54G. Why?

    I adjust the wireless connection

    Base rate: all THE

    Transmission rate: 54Mbps

It is still slow as a wired connection. Is this because the WEP security settings?

    Best regards

    Chen min

Yes, WPA2-AES can go up to 300 Mbps (or more) on the bands of 2.4 and 5 Ghz as long as your wireless adapter supported this speed.

  • Wireless connection is slow.

    original title: slow wifi link.

My wifi connection has suddenly slowed way. Link speed was 150 Mbps (N, Belkin, N adapter on HP computer router). Now, sometimes it is as little as 5. Rarely more than 15. My other laptop on the same router is Gtype and remains at 54, so I suspect the problem is in my laptop. Tried each diagnostic that I can find. All say 'no problem '.

  • Satellite L505 - wireless connection is slow

    Curlie028,
I'm having the same problem with a brand new Toshiba Satellite L505 - Windows 7 64-bit with the Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless NIC.

    I've tried EVERYTHING.

[http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests/] starts at approximately 1480 Kbps speed of download and then quickly falls less than 300 Kbps. Cable LAN gives download speed 1480 Kbps all the time on my DSL connection. But when I use the Realtek wireless NETWORK card, the speed starts up quickly, while it tapers rapidly to < 300 Kbps.

My daughter has a Satellite A500 (not L500) with another wireless adapter. Sitting side by side anywhere in the House, his laptop, when accessing the same wireless router, always enjoys almost 1500 kbits/s such as measured by www.dslreports.com/speedtests/ - but not with my laptop!

I've done everything that I can to investigate this on my own - as you - driver updated, update the BIOS, turning off all the stuff of Norton Internet Security Suite, different browsers, you name it.

I even tried the settings "netsh int tcp set global", running the speedtest repeatededly that I made changes following the steps on this site: [http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=2574]

The only thing left to do is call the Toshiba Support and start their districts relentlessly until something gives... I don't want to return the laptop. I want them TROUBLE THE PROBLEM!

    Mike

    Hey Buddy,

You wrote that you tried as the driver update, etc.
But it would be interesting to know which driver you have installed. Please install the latest official page of Toshiba with Realtek WLAN driver directly. All the drivers from the Toshiba page are pre-tested for your laptop.
    Check this box!

In addition, it would be interesting to know if you are running your own Windows installation or factory settings.

The Norton Internet Security software isn t so fast. I recommend to uninstall and choosing another AntiVirus such as AntiVir. The firewall, you can use the windows one.

  • Wireless connection is slow after installing Windows 8.

upgrade to Windows 8 with digital download.  Now, the wireless download speed reduced to a crawl - 38 Mbps about 1mbps.  Download speed is about 2, 5-2, 8 which is what it is supposed to be.  Download speed when connected via an ethernet cable is well, just at the moment where the use wireless.  Downloaded drivers updated at Acer wireless lan, but nothing helps.

Help please.   I've noticed it seems to be a common problem there and existed well before the official release of win 8

Original title: download wireless speed severely impaired after upgrade to windows 8

    Hi guys

I had this problem too and the fix has been surprisingly easy for me. Here's what I did:

-Left click the Internet access icon at the bottom right (next to the audio icon), and then make a right click the wireless network, you're connected to and select "view the connection properties.

-In the Security tab of this window, click the encryption type drop-down list box and select "TKIP".
    -Press OK.
I had read this as a suggestion in another thread and it worked :)

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L650, which has an Atheros wireless card.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion G6: Wireless connection slow

    Hello

Given that I update to windows 10 my wireless connection is slower.

Test on speedtest.net in my house, dowload speed is at best 1, 5mbps and download 2.5 Mbps (which is strange uploading faster than downloading) and at the same time my other laptop Acer becomes 7, 5mbps download and the same 2.5 Mbit/s in upload. In my house, I have a service of the internet 3G / 4G.

    Hi @miguelsoare,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook g6 and issues with slow wireless speeds. Here is a link for troubleshooting wireless connection, if you need.

If the problem persists, I would change the channel on the router. Routers are able to communicate to your laptop on several different channels. Sometimes, this fixes the speeds.

Some say that it helps to fix this Microsoft Fix it.

Here is a link to help as well.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • Satellite L500 - wireless connection is very slow

    Hey all,.

I have problems with my toshiba satellite L500 wireless very slow. I restored the computer back to factory settings, reset the router and do not know what to do. The only way that I am able to achieve and increase speed of internet is by connecting the laptop to the router.

There are 3 other laptops in the House which is the same model, this laptop runs very fast. My router is a Thomson TG782T.

    Thank you

    Hello

First, I would try to update the WLAN driver. Download the latest version on the Toshiba site and then delete the old version. Reboot the laptop and use CCleaner to clean the system. Restart again and now you can install the latest WLAN driver.

I put t know what operating system you have, but on Vista and Windows 7, you must disable the WLAN energy saving function. You can do this in Windows power management if you change power management.

I had a similar problem and after removing the energy saving function, it worked fast and normal as on other laptops. :)

sometimes working wireless on my laptop is very slow. Our people at work said there must be a lot of people in my neighborhood picky backup me & that I need to put a password on the router. How can I do this?

original title: addition of router password?

The manual is expected to be online. If you have pain to find - know everyone here the brand name and model - it is likely that someone here can help more.

Basically connect to the interface web (usually via http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 web page with the username "admin") and change the password in the configuration / administrative to something (I suggest 15 + characters including letters - upper and lower case, numbers and symbols) and then find the wireless configuration and change the password for it to something other than the administrative password - but with the same suggestion.  If she uses WEP and you have all the relatively new devices (all purchased in the last 7 years) then I suggest change you in WPA.  If possible, replace WPA2.

Probably there is also a place where you can see who is connected.

What type of Internet connection you are paying for?  (Include numbers upstream and downstream, given to you by the service provider and the type...)

  • Very slow wireless connection

    Hello

I am owner of the Dell Studio 1555 and I Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini Card on my Board. There is a problem when I am connected to my router and Internet runs very slowly. The signal strength is excellent, I use WPA2 encryption. There is no problem to connect to the network, I had just to configure the ipv4 as IP, the door parameters and so on because the automatic setting didn't work. So I run my firefox and google charges pretty okey but slow. It is then impossible to surf because the download speed is something like 1 kb/s. When I plug in the ethernet cable so it's all good. I tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing has changed. I use windows vista. I also tried connection in linux ubuntu system, but same problem occurs. My friend uses a wireless connection of the router same and everything is going well for him. How to speed up the connection?

    Best wishes

    Simon

If you connect the laptop to the router (or the modem) with a cable? If it gives a high speed, you may need to change the channel is using your router. It's probably 11. Replace 1 or 5. Can significantly reduce the interference from other wireless devices connect speeds.

  • Satellite Pro L500 - wireless connection is very slow and unstable

    Hello

I bought a Satellite Pro L500 a couple of weeks (Windows 7 and Realtek 8191SE). I have no problem connecting to public networks, but I can't use it at my place, where I have a broadband cable connection.
The strange thing is that, in the same room, I have no problem with my old A105 Satellite (Windows XP).

It is also very strange the fact that, even if the signal is good, sometimes excellent, the connection is very slow and unstable (it disconnects when I try to browse the Internet).

    I have already tried:

    -Update the Realtek drivers.
    -Disconnect the firewall;
-Modification of the properties of the Realtek card.

Maybe it's a problem with the software or, on the contrary, with the material?

    Thank you!
    Poncet

    Hi Patrick,

If you can connect to public networks correctly, I think that this problem is related to your router at home. So I would recommend updating the firmware on your router. You can get it on the page of manufactured goods.

Also try to disable WLAN encryption and MAC address filtering.

By the way: you can access the Internet at home via a cable connection?
