Table as a global variable

It left me speechless.

I have looked through examples and the forum, but could not find a solution to my problem.

I am writing a program that has a table of values on the screen before and various under vi that update the values in the table.  I have to be able to read the values of the cells in the table, but I understand that this cannot be done.  So I try to use tables to keep the values that I want to read and just write to the table when I have to.

In any case, I need to create a table that can be accessed by all the sie.  I added a table to the gobal.vi control but when I select a sub vi I get a node of Blackboard, and if I have anything wiring him get a cut wire.

You have added an empty array to the Global Variable. Just add a numeric control to the table in the GV, and you will get a table of numerical values, which you will be able to use.

    You can use the same way, how you use the project variable, just you have to do a thin is #GLOBAL.variable_name for example: #GLOBAL. SMART_AL_FILE_NAME_S

    Note: Make sure you that while you use one variable overall in interface, indicator should be staged as you chose above the screen

    I solved it by using a library (Cluster Toolkit of Autotestware) to the GE in variant tables and depending on the type, I converted the variant accordingly and saved.  I guess that CVT would be able to do, but since I already use the cluster and they are "already here" it was more convinient for me to use this solution.

    As you use only the variables on a single system. There is no advantage to the use of unique process shared on Globals variables.

    Infact a global variable uses a little less processing power that a global variable as the implementation of a shared variable single-pocess effect is a global variable with the timestamp feature.
    If you use a shared variable single process, if you don't need the timestamp feature, then disable it to use less processing power.

  • Retrieve the label of a cluster in a global variable

    Hi guys!

    In my application I was using a bunch of Boolean values for the different types of errors that I could have in my Subvi.

    It was not really practical manage all of these clusters, so I decided to create a world.

    Now the problem is I can't extract the labels and values of this cluster. Before I spent as the thesis reference values, but I think there is no way to create a reference directly from my global variable (cluster).

    As you can see in this printscreen so I created a new table indicator in my VI. But if I add a new Boolean value into my global cluster, I need to create the cluster once again and it is not really practical.

    The goal is to list the errors in a string only if the value is true.

    I don't know if I'm clear, otherwise I can explain more.

    have you tried to insert a "to a more specific class" before the node property-ctl?

    Because you always want to know the names of the Boolean, you really should give it a shot to typedefinitions...

    As smercurio mentioned, if you described what you wanted to do, we could show you things that can be done using LabVIEW.

    For example, loops For may not be not necessary if you are trying to extract or manipulate data in tables.

    It is good that you have a job, but it would be better to learn the power behind LabVIEW.  Who knows, you can actually walk away from C code...

  • Impossible to go from baseline of connection via functional Global Variable

    I'm working on a project of producer/consumer based, which some parties have access to a MySQL database. After the connection to the database, I want to store the reference to the connection inside of a functional global variable. Then other parts of the project that need to use it can only read in the functional global variable.

    For some reason, the reference of the connection is not valid once it has been read functional global variable. It works fine if I have the reference directly from the connection to the request for enforcement VI wiring.

    I have attached a few screws that show the problem, but you will not be able to run them unless you have a database to connect to and hack you the query a little so he selects in your tables.

    SQL_whole_thing works very well. It connects to the database, returns information he requested by the query, and then disconnects. No problem.

    But if I run DB_Connect.vi (which stores the reference to 'DatabaseID_FGV' FGV), follow-up of SQL_Query.vi (which reads to the FGV reference), then I get an error saying that the reference is not valid.

    Your referance on the SR's "outdated" when implementing this way.  Essentially, this means that data in memory to this referance has changed because the referance was stored.  Just because you have changed the data at this location.  This prevents you from spend a refeance for the "old data" and crashing the calling application since the referance Rassi contains assumptions that are more adequate data.

    Consider upgrading this FGV powered Action.  This would be encapulate all the Actions you want to do to the database (connect, disconnect, fecth, writing etc.) and maintain the current referance on the AEs shift register.  Ben establishes a great deal for just this type of functional encapsulation in his famous nugget.  A must read for every programmer

  • Package global Variable - Collection - Associative Aray

    What we are doing is...
    (1) fill us tab_emp_sal_comm with big collect and browse in a loop.
    (2) check if the deptno success is available in the tab_emp_sal_comm collection.
    (3) if it is available to fill a collection called tab_emp_sal_comm_1 and push corresponding only files inside.
    (4) of the corresponding collection, we want to fill at the table of global collection of package which is again of the same type.
    (5) by default for each new call old values are replaced, but I want to add the global variable at each call and finally do a big update to the corresponding tables.
    (6) l_deptno will be a parameter and values will change at each call of this procedure in the code in real-time.

    For the sake of ease, given an example simulated the EMP table. Goal is to add the global table in the package. Because each call, the previously loaded values are replaced. I want them to be available and additional calls should only add the values in the next set of lines instead of over writing.

    How to achieve it, please discuss.

    (1) operator MULTISET, AFAIK, is to always give a dense nested table. To create a sparse nested table, the only way is to delete some items with the DELETE method.

    (2) using the 1... NesTableVar.count is valid only when the collection is dense. With the release of MULTISET UNION you won't have a problem. But if you have a loop in a rare collection, you must use another method.
    Below is an example:

    I have a report in a page and form in another page...

    If I clicked on the icon change in the report page it navigates to the form in another page...

    In this im report have "bill_amount" as one of the column, if I clicked on the icon change report page means, it will go to the form in another page...

    This form consist of one text field which is "bill_amount"...

    Since the report that I bill_amount for each entry, if I clicked on the icon change the means of the respective row, it does not appear automatically the respective bill_amount in the text in the form field...

    I created a report separately on the sql_query table... I created a form with a single field 'bill_amount '...

    Given that I na not create a report and a form based on the table... If I have created as it means if I clicked on the icon change it will show the datas respective in the form... since I created a report and form separately...

    If it is possible to create a global variable... who will bring the value of the "invoice amount" in the relationship and you will go the respective value in the form field on the next page...

    I don't want to put the value in the form field by restricting by request... She must take through the global variable...

    How can I reach it...

    The statement you quoted all Adobe documentation is correct.

    If you want to load the data into the tables before anything else happens, then have everything that happens to run via the function completeHandler... when the data is loaded and processed in the tables.

    the command: loadFile() runs before the trace ("2:" + images [4]); command.  The loadFile function is processed and loading process BEGINS... but begins loading does not delay the main treatment to continue down the line - the loading itself becomes a secondary/background task.  The order was to run the function loadFile and the processing of this function has been completed.  If you don't believe, then add a trace...

    If you add this trace, you will see the execution of function loadFile is completed and the following line in your code is then treatment... trace (2...)

    The addEventlistener method does not stop anything.  The addEventListener method code is assigned a monitor, not a traffic controller... it's say the monitor to indicate when the loading data are complete.  It does not do anything to stop the execution of the program.

    So if you want to wait until the data is loaded before anything else... it goes...

    I have problems with the passing of data through my device customized using global variables. I want to allow a user to select a RIO device address when you set up the system definition file. This is recorded in a global variable using the hand Page VI. I would later use this RIO device address in RT driver to deploy a bitfile. I can hard-code, but it is much more convenient to use a global.

    When I try to store the address of the global variable, it updates the value temporarily (I confirmed that the structure of the event recognizes the change of value). When I click the node of the tree to define system linked to the Main Page VI and then click on it again, the hand Page VI runs again. I wrote the code to repopulate the address of device of RIO with the last value stored in the global variable, but it is empty. I've included the VI global variables in my build, so I can't imagine why it can reset this value.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Have you tried to use the custom device properties to store this value instead of GVs?

    Configuration VI, you can set this property, and if I'm not mistaken, you can read these properties on the RT driver.

  • DLL and global variables

    OK, here's a strange problem.  I am very new to create the dll, so I don't know that I have just an installation problem.

    But I'm trying to pass a global variable of a host program to its attached DLL.  I got this job when I was the CVI 2014. I recently upgraded to 2015 and then started getting "undefined symbols" errors.  With some struggle I managed to compile again, but broke the variable connection in the process.

    I have compiled my DLL in debug mode so that I walk in from the test project.  Right now, my global variable exists in the test project, as well as in the DLL.

    Can I export the variable and the use of DLLIMPORT/DLLEXPORT?  Confused and curiously not to find anyone quite like this on the forums.

    EDIT: this post stack overflow described pretty well from my experience.  I am linking statically.

    Well, what do you know?  I found my problem.  This draft article and example WERE vital to the solution.  This article called, "using the Export method qualifier"was also useful.  I'll cut to the Chase...

    If you use a qualifier of export on the definition and the import on the declaration, LabWindows/CVI identifier export symbol.

    This is the right key.

    So in my example, it should look like this:

    Project that uses DLL.c

    varName! = 1 ;  a method to change this variable for local use

    Pretty easy, huh?  But wow, it took some time to find.

    Well I finally used the method "GetNthSubProperty" to work on each variable and I use the property 'Type' to know if it's a number, string, boolean, or a container. If it is a container, I repeat the process at a lower level... (see attached vi)

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to have a variable size buffer. Right-click in the textfield corresponding: the shortcut menu does not show an entry to select the global variable from a list.
