  I recently started using Adobe InDesign and love it! I have a question around the table of contents. At the beginning of each chapter, we have a simple page with a box in it. (each chapter has about 10 pages). The intention is to have the content of the text become the title of the chapter box and have it displayed in the Table of content. The text box itself has several characters of new line in. When I generate the table of contents, InDesign creates several entries in the Table of contents (one per each new line in the text box). So my question is... Is there a way to specify that the content of the entire text box appears as an entry in the Table of contents. (I'd like to update the table of contents by hand to avoid any errors).

  So, you say that, break forced line and you want that all the rows in the table of contents? I think that I misunderstood.

  If this is the case you're going to the trouble of formatting of the table of contents, as the forced line break will carry you through to the table of contents (you can change the colours using styles or nested GREP and those will not set if you use a different style in the table of contents list itself).

• Update table of contents (frame) in the primary anchor text stream?

  I understand that a table of contents of InDesign should sit on its own page or in a separate text frame, so it can be easily maintained and updated.

  Fine and understand. However, I'm working on a project where I need all the content (from the illustration of the cover of the last line) to sit in the primary sequences of the spread of master - including the table of contents.

  Here's what I've tried: I open the Table of contents dialog, made all the settings and click OK. Clicking on will now create a new text frame with the table of contents, which can be changed by selecting this image by using "Update Table of contents. So far so good.

  I cut this framework and then inserted as a framework anchored in the stream text main, just as I have anchor a table, image, etc.. However, after anchor this TOC frame, I can not more updated by using "update the Table of contents. It is just another framework, not recognized as the table of contents more.

  Is there another way to have a 'live', table being updated content that will float in the primary text flow?

  I could make this work in CS6 (and I would consider another version that allows to drag the anchored object rather than cut and paste). Now the SHIFT key and dragging the blue handle in the main story, I could anchor the table of contents, and when the text cursor was in it I could update. Make sure you anchor in a separate paragraph that uses a style that is NOT included in the table of contents, or he'll start on update.

  The model that I inherited uses a method in which the table of contents appear in the main FM as an insert text imported doc. To create the table of contents, a table of contents in autonomous is created and then imported as a text box to the specific location in the main file. When this FM file is saved as PDF hyperlinks in the page table of contents do not work.

  -Am I doing something wrong, or is - what a limitation of text import crashing like OCD?

  For reasons specific to my application, I use books with a Table of contents file that imports the TOC file generated as a text overlay. And hyperlinks in the PDF file. I understand that, in general, the links in text ads that link outside of themselves are not active in the PDF file. But for some unknown reason, the links in my Table of contents work in the PDF file.

  So, I tested your case. I created a standalone table of contents for a single document (be sure to select create hyperlinks in the Set Up Table of contents dialog box) and then it imported by reference into the document. I created the PDF (print to the Adobe PDF printer) and the links work perfectly.

  Make sure that you have selected data Acrobat generated in the print dialog box, and THEN select make named Destinations in the links in the PDF Setup dialog box tab.

  I have also heard that if you apply a format of characters in a line in the table of contents, links will not work in the PDF file. It is another thing to check.

• Duplicate sections throughout the table of contents after generating the HTML5 multiscreen output

  Use: RoboHelp 10, version 10.0.0.287

  Steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. click on file > create > main layout (Multiscreen_HTML5)

  2 al ' Generate window click on [Save and Generate]

  3. wait

  4. click on [view results]

  5 results show swathes of the table of contents reproduced in other sections.  10 more times to repeat the generation before that the entire table of contents points are correct and I can publish.  This is not preventing me from doing the job, but it's certainly a time killer.

  Background: I inherited a working version.  I did not create it.  I have more knowledge of the HTML language, but I'm not a developer.  I didn't upgrade beyond RH10 option.  I have studied this many times, but have not been able to find a solution.  The only other thing I've seen sometimes are error messages related to the toctree.js file, but I still don't understand those.  Even when I have not, this past yet, but I have included this error just in case it may be related, although I suspect that it is a separate issue.  I don't currently have the line in the js file because this sample is old and I have not seen the question at least a month.

  Other Notes: I've seen a few posts on a similar question in the printed version, but, I do not have a printed version.  I don't know if that makes a difference, and do I know if anyone in the past that put in place or even where to go to watch.

• Bad Table of contents appears in the help file when published

  I have four on my Web server help files. When I try to access these files help, good welcome page appears, but the Table of contents that appears in the help file is the Table of contents of an another help file. My other help files work fine. Anyone who has ever met a similar problem and how to solve? It acts as the projects were merged, even if I never said to RoboHelp to do.

  Had to remove all of the help files on the Web server and republish. This seemed to fix the problem.

• Custom field highlighting the problem

  I have a custom field class that extends the field.  the custom class allows me to put a photo inside the field.  The problem I have is when I give him a click event, it accentuates not.

  OK, so as I said in the previous post, you can paint the blue highlight, but your bitmap image will then paint over clear tones.

  So that the nail is visible, you must set a fill around the bitmap. In other works, the measurement of field must be slightly larger than the size of the bitmap.

  You the best solution would have been to extend BitmapField (rather than field) and use the setSpace() method to set some padding.

  Otherwise, you will need to adjust the measurement of field in your replacement of subLayout().

• Table of contents missing after the publication in MP4 format

  I created a project and included a table of contents, I can review the project but and everything looks good, but when I publish and preview there is no table of contents is displayed.

  MP4 is a video format, may not have interactivity, table of contents is not possible.

• Don't see the index or table of contents when in the browser

  When I try to view a WebHelp Pro layout generated in a browser IE 10 +, I don't see the Table of contents, or index.  I downloaded and replaced two .js files, but it still does not work.   This has happened after upgrade from my old version of Robohelp 10.   Any suggestions? @

• RoboHelp 10 - is possible to change the icon of the TOC so that a 'book' in the table of contents. See the attached screen shot.

  In my current project for help, I have a set of topics that are specific to the use of our product in a country.  I want to change the table of contents of the specific book icon without changing all icons 'purple book '.

  I'm working on 11 of FrameMaker. How can I get my Table of contents (TOC) to display the chapter number and chapter title on one line. My chapter titles have the chapter number and chapter title on two lines, two centered at the top of a new page. I wish that my OCD to pick the chapter number and chapter name on one line not two. Thank you.

  If you'v created the table of contents with activation of hyperlinks (default) setting, and then simply hold the CTRL + alt keys and click on empty entries in your TOC file. FM will open the file containing the entrry and jump to the correct section.

• How to use the search bar 'Find' in the table of contents to find the script FULL of my course?

  My project contains voice narration with the support of chips. Start-up option "find" in the table of contents looks only bullets of text on each slide to specific words. Is there a place I can insert the full script (rather than the abbreviated chips) spoken by the narrator in my class so that the option "find" search in these words?

  Hello!

  Captivate, in fact the finding of OCD to retrieve and search for the text content of slide and slide labels usage.

  What you can do to get your full script to work.

  (1) add a text caption slide.

  (2) paste is your complete script. (From slide notes)

  3) go to properties of legend text-[disable] option which does not show in the output.

  In this way, you would have all your content on the slide to search for in the table of contents, but still not visbile to users, they would continue to see the short balls.

• Non editable field change to highlight the problem

  Hi all

  I have an edit non editable field in my screen. In order to make the difference between editable and non editable field, I put the bottom of the field cannot be changed to light gray as in the code below:

  Thank you. Overridding method drawFocus() and nothing doing, emphasis has been disabled on the fields and the white highlight was not. But once I reached the first or the last field of the white selection screen gets drawn again.  But the border I also assign the background of the field edit as shown below, and this solved my problem.

  Background bgNonEditable = BackgroundFactory.createSolidBackground(Color.LIGHTGRAY);
  textField.setBackground(bgNonEditable);

• Adobe Content Viewer on the problem of android devices

  Only, I had my first folio uploaded to cloud and tried to preview it on IOS and Android devices.  It works fine on ios devices, but on Android, it cannot preview images using url. for example: https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/homepage/include/style/homepage/home_for-business-edu-thumb-3 06x123.jpg

  But if I change the full html page (for example: https://www.adobe.com/), the device preview well.

  Any suggestion about my problem?
