Tabs in Safari

I put Safari in place so that when I open a new tab and click on the smart search box, my favorites open and my frequently visited sites.  Today, that has stopped working. If I use the drop-down list option favorite the selected site url indicates 2 times in the smart search?  Can anyone help?

Thank you

  • Tabs in Safari for gmail eat much memory a lot. Why?

After I installed 10.11.4 on my 2012 13 "MacBook Pro with 4 GB of RAM, I found a lot of to use it. Recently, when I have frustrated its use, I checked the activity monitor and found that Safari tablets ONLY for gmail eats a lot a lot of memory, which seems ridiculous to me.

Gmail has been known to be a very light e-mail client. But I see that just by opening gmail inbox page, takes about 250 to 300 MB of RAM memory. And after a while (20-30 seconds) the consumption of memory goes up to 450 to 600 MB. I usually keep an eye gmail open in my safari browser all the time to check emails and not to close. (I do not use Mac Mail application, thinking that the Mail app will eat more memory than tabs in Safari). I also have emails with the normal text or advertising emails. No data high image or video files in my regular emails.

Here are the data of the activity monitor. Look at the memory for the process "mail.google.com":-the largest is 692MB taken up by a tab.

Answer please, if any of you are also facing this problem. Is this a bug of Mac OS or Gmail bug? Or if there is no solution to this.

    Hello...

See if that makes a difference...

  • Set multiple home tabs in safari

There is a feature in Firefox and Internet Explorer (I'm moving from a PC) where I can put several home tabs in the browser so that when I open the browser open all the tabs.  This is very useful for what I do as I work with various Web sites throughout the day.

I can't find a way to define multiple home tabs in Safari.  Does anyone know how or if it's possible?

    Thank you in advance.

If you open Safari Preferences-> general, you can set Safari to open all Favorites in their own tabs.  This could be an option for you.

  • Whenever I try to open a new tab in Safari, it closes in on my previous page. How should I do so that I can have several tabs open?

Whenever I try to open a new tab in Safari, it closes in on my previous page. How should I do so that I can have several tabs open?

What version of OS/Safari do you use?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • How to focus the tabs in Safari with AppleScript and avoid opening new

    Tell application "system events".

    activate an application "Safari".

key code 19 using the command to cmd - down 2 opened a second tab or activate it so open

    Open the location "http://example.com".

    tell the end

It works fine as long as one of them are real

    1. the 2nd tab does not exist yet in this case it will be the 2nd tab and open the url in this place. Or...

2 If the 2nd tab already exists, it will launch the 2nd tab and reload the page until the 2nd tab is already at the location of Web site, we want to be.

But if you say 2 or more tabs open and you run this, if the 2nd tab the DSI not already on the url, you want it to be it will activate the 2nd tab and then open the location of the site in a new tab.

What I want is something like

Code 19 - key using the command down

Set the location of the active tab for the 1 in safari request to "http://example.com".

But this obviously doesn't work. So, how can I know Safari to use only the tabs that I said rather than open new ones every time?

    Hello

To set the focus to a tab: use the "class" property of the window tab.

To open a URL: use the URL property of the tab instead of the command "open location".

    As this script:

    -------

    set theUrl to "http://example.com".

    Tell application "Safari".

otherwise (there is an active tab from the front window) and then make new document - if no window

    the window before saying

If (count the tabs) = 1 then - open URL in new tab

set the active tab (to make the new tag at the end of the tabs with properties {URL: theUrl})

    -2 or more tabs

the current value of the tab 2 - the second tab of the focus

the value URL of the tab current theUrl - change the URL of the second tab

    end if

    tell the end

    tell the end

  • Open the tabs in Safari only synchronize between devices

I have 4 devices. iMac, Mac Mini, iPhone and an iPad and I really like the fact that Safari can show the tabs open on all devices, but it does not work properly here.

The iMac will only sync with the iPad and the iPhone only syncs with the Mac Mini. This means that for each pair I don't see a place all three.

All devices share the same ID apple and sync to iCloud.

The problem started after I introduced the Mac Mini to the family. It is not a new (I think that 2011/2012), but before that, I saw all the tabs opened between the iMac, iPhone and the iPad.

I hope someone can enlighten me what went wrong.

    See you soon,.

    JS.

ON the Mac, open System Preferences > iCloud. Clear the box next to Safari and then reselect it.

On your iPad and iPhone, tap settings > iCloud. Disable Safari then turn it back on

Give a few minutes of re iCloud synchronize data.

  • Unable to close/remove tabs in Safari

Since Update 9.3.1 on iPad 2 air, there is no 'X' on any tab Safari makes it impossible to delete tabs. I stopped and restarted several times, but the tabs automatically re - appear. I have reviewed the settings, deleted the data from the cache and Web site. That's all I can think to do. Any suggestions?

On my iPad Air, with the same software update, the 'x' is clearly visible and works as expected. I have noticed subtle differences in the functioning of these two units, but this is a first for me, to have a real malfunction with the updated software.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

The x must be in the tab to the right. It is not tap two places in the upper right corner, then click the x on the thumbnail, or drag the thumbnail to the left to remove.

  • Tab titles Safari do not expand fully when I hover over title to label

Before my 10.11.4 ElCapitan updated, if I had a few tabs open in a Safari window and toss over a tab title it would display the full title of the tab for example instead of "start new Di... "the title could expand to" start new Discussion " Community of Apple support' in a small rectangle.

This no longer works with Safari 9.1 (11601.5.17.1) on OS X El Capitan 10.11.4. I'm stuck with the 3 points at the end of the title visible tab.

I am at a loss as to who to address. This feature was certainly for me under OS X El Capitan 10.11.3.

I had a glance through the file system for files related to Safari by using a Terminal Services session cannot make head nor tails on most of them.

Oh yes, MacBook Air 13 "

Try to uninstall all the extensions you can have, and then test.
