Taken Max memory supported by HP G62-b50SQ.

Hello.

4 months ago I needed a laptop, and my choice was HP G62-b50sq. I am happy with my choice, but it came with only 3 GB of memory, and it is simply not enough for me.

I read a lot of reviews and specifications of this particular configuration, and in each of them, he says that the accepted maximum memory is 4 GB. Here's the question: why? The processor P6100, then it has a controller integrated DDR3-1066 memory and it supports 8 GB of RAM, so why this particular cell takes in charge only half? Or there is not enough physical space for double side slots inside to adapt?

There is conflicting info on the product specifications page and the service manual.

State of care product max is 4 GB.

Service manual says max is 8 GB (2 x 4 GB).

My advice:

Download and run the free memory Crucial Analyzer.  That will tell you how much memory you can install on your laptop.

I'm sure he'll come back and tell you that you can install 8 GB.

If for some unforeseen reason it does not work, then you can still play and buy a 4 GB chip and install it and see what happens.

Chips 4 GB DDR3 are not too expensive (under $ 20.00).

    Your PC would have the Intel 915 chipset.

    If the motherboard has no memory, each with 1 GB of memory, 2 slots then you're at the max.

    Locations of Intel 915 chipset memory cannot manage more than 1 GB of memory.

    The crucial memory upgrade link I posted said your PC had 4 locations of memory, so that the info is wrong.

    If you upgrade to W7, I recommend you only go with the 32-bit version on your PC.

    A 64-bit system requires more disk space and memory to run as a 32-bit system doesn't work - not double, but, with only 2 GB of memory, a 32 bit OS will perform a little better that will be a 64 bit OS, but who is to you.
