Task Scheduler troubleshooting: errors & inability to change in the Configuration of the system?

Hello!

I'm working through a major problem with Media Center and trying to clean up my system.   And I'm lucky to have the same problem with the TASK SCHEDULER.  I think that several tasks of windows have been removed, but I'm not sure.

I get occasional catastrophic failure, then an error for a task that the name of the State account does not exist, then an error indicating MCUPDATE is corrupt.

I don't know how far back this problem goes, but its at least a month.

I ran scannow sfc and sfc verifyonly and it states that the system is fine.

I can't seem to stop and restart the Task Scheduler in the Services, even if logged in as an administrator, all the choices are grayed out.

I ran the command cmd /k sc qc eventlog

I have WINDOWS VISTA sp 2.  So I wonder if a similar service registry key is available for VISTA.

Or is my different problem?

Thanks for your help

Hello RichardVV,

Try the following since you mcupdate is corrupt error.

Go to Windows Explorer for the path: C:/Windows/System32/tasks/Microsoft/Windows/Media Centre

and remove mcupdate.

If please reply back and let us know if this helped with your question.

This phenomenon was related to iaStorA.sys Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver from Intel Corp.  It is a buggy especially with SSDS driver or hybrid.  I'd install the most recent driver available, even if it is the same date that drivers become corrupt.

If you have a SSD drive or hybrid don't forget to update the firmware and you really need to update to win 8.1, you will stop to get the updates bit of time if you do not have.

    Hello

could a. you give the error message as well?
    b. are you try to create a system restore point or restore the computer to a previous state?

    c. Why do you try to restore the computer to a previous state?

We can try the following methods and check.

    Method 1.
Disable the security software and then try to run the system restore and verify.

    Method 2.

Let us run restore the system from the command prompt and check. Follow the steps described in the article below to get there.

For me, the problem was intermittent (same registry key would sometimes cause the issue and sometimes not - must be corrupted sometimes) so it was impossible to tell what program it was.  Fortunately, there is a newspaper, you can watch that will tell you exactly what registry key is slightest mistake out.  Here are the steps to get the newspaper, you must see:

When you see the error message, follow these steps:

1.) press SHIFT + F10 to get to a command prompt

    2.) stand C:\windows\Panther

3.) find the Setup.etl file and find a way to copy this file out of the system (I copied it to the partition D:\ and Ghost used to collect this partition and down the file)

4.) copy the file to another computer that has Windows 7 setup.etl corrupt system.  Place it at the root of C:\ for easier access.

5.) open a prompt on the Windows 7 computer.

6.) navigate to the root of C:\ (or anywhere where you saved the file)

    7.) type "tracerpt setup.etl o logfile.csv.

8.) close command prompt and open logfile.csv in your text editor of choice.

9.), look in the log file (near the end, probably) for messages that say "Failed to key"reg"process or one of its descendants" to me, the exact eror looked like this: "failed to process the"reg"key or one of its descendants: [profile \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Plugins\01000200\Profiles\@My] ' If you search for"«key reg"' or «failed in the process»»» You should find the failure.

10.) remove this software from your image, or how to get the registry key that does not work properly.

After that, you should be able to correctly identify any key problem and the elimination/workaround on your image.

  • I try to do the Task Scheduler open an Access 2007 DB on the network

    Hello

    Any help with this one?

I have a DB of 2007 access on a shared folder on the network.  I want 4 users to be able to start and DB that open when they are connected.

It works when you schedule the execution of a program that is located on the local disk, for example, open Notepad or a other prog.

    When I do the following...

Create the new task (no base)

Open task DB name > run when the user logged on (they must be in any case) use with the highest privileges = yes > Configure to Vista or server 2008 (using Small Business SERVER 2003 and Vista Bus)

Relaxation > in the journal to start GOLD > specific user or group (ME) check box selected = Yes

    Action > start a program > Browse to the program/script = x player database - name.accdb

Conditions - no defined (of course supply sector)

Settings > allow the task runs at the request - stop after three days (again, I'm not that long!)

Click RUN to see if it works. Nothing happens

All suggestions, anyione has done something similar?

Tried several variations on the settings, still no joy.

    Thanks in advance. McP
