TDMS plugin

I try to use screw express data storage to write of TDMS files but I get the error-2588 to try to open the file.

Here:

http://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361H-01/lverror/storage_error_codes/

the error code is translated into "Failed to register the use. The use of .uri file may contain information of invalid use. ", but the message box that reports the error says"Labview cannot open the data storage file.

I (re)? installed the plugin from the site, NOR unsuccessfully. I'm using Labview 2011.

Any ideas?

It's the opening and process of creation of the file which was not.

The VI attached shows the problem, although now, I discovered the reason for this. "Open data storage" VI insists on the .tdms extension is provided in the path while the VI 'TDMS Open' adds the extension itself.

I still think that the description of the error-2588 code is useless, or the error code is issued wrongly.

    Hello

    the functionality to open Excel files has been added to the ICU starting with version 1.8. However, the ICU in the manner described above upgrade you will register to use ExcelTDM and make it available through the _openWithRoot.vi in LabVIEW 2009. Simply install or DIAdem 2010 NI LabVIEW 2010 as a demo version.

    Looks like the plugin TDMS (latest news from: version 3.1, http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2944 ) for Excel does not work for Win7(64b). It installs ok and an icon is available in the Excel add-ins tab, but nothing happens when it is activated.

  • TDMS plugin for open office

    Hi all

    I'm working on my final year project at the University which includes a system that stores data in a file PDM, the only problem is I have Microsoft office on my Tablet and therefore impossible to install any additional exe on it. But I have a laptop that is running office open 4.0.1 and I downloaded the plugin open messaging for TDMS but it comes back with an error that States that I must use a version of open office that is greater than 2.0, has anyone came across this problem, if so is there a fix for that because it would be very useful in my presentation in the last year to show the actual results of my project.

    Thank you

    Hello

    If I'm not mistaken, you install the plugin from this link: http://www.ni.com/example/30951/en/. If so, please take notes that connect only to the amount of Open Office 3.3. If this gives you a warning that she must be greater than 2.0, maybe you can try to install Open Office 3.3 instead?

  • Alternative to MS Excel for viewing and the calculation

    Good evening

    I am looking for an alternative to MS Excel. My use case is:

    (1) collect data using Labwindows CVI

    2) store in .csv files

    (3) with Labwindows CVI to copy data from .csv files into .xls templates

    -some calculations of data is executed by ICB

    -some equations are in the Excel file and get automatically calculated after you paste the data

    -existing charts in Excel templates display data calculated after copying

    Given that the amount of files has grown over the years and data analysis is becoming increasingly heavy, I'm looking for an alternative allows

    (a) possibilities for visualization of data and the flexibility of chaning that later

    (b) calculation within the tool (I don't want to have too many equations hidden in some C programs)

    (c) integration in Labwindows CVI (I can change that... but not quite yet)

    Anyone have a recommendation?

    Thank you!

    Hi ZerMahlMeer,

    Tiara not only allows you to perform a multitude of analyses (very easily I might add) on your data, it provides even the ability to automate the entire data, analysis and reporting through Visual Basic Script.  Another really nice feature of DIAdem is that it copies the data that you import and saves it as. Files TDM that prevents overwriting your original data.  If you did, you might also the scrap of the generation of the .csv file and use the C API of TDMS.  This allows you to save data much faster because of the binary structure of TDMS files and then you can open these files in Excel using the TDM Plugin OR for Excel (free to download) and import natively in DIAdem.

    What you call sounds almost exactly what DIAdem is made.  The only transient pain point can be get used to writing VBS if you don't know the code.  However, most of the things that you do not want to refer to a script (for example data channels) can be simply dragged from DIAdem data portal to the script to generate the script code to access this item.  There is also a script recorder that allows you to perform activities of DTC using configuration dialog boxes and automatically capture this activity in the script, so the rise is also greatly facilitated.

  • PDM with timestamp and different design tab

    Hi all

    I would like to ask how I can get readings from two sensors of tension and save them in the .tdms format. However, these readings will be continuous and long, I need a file .tdms for daily management purposes. I would like once again to management purposes were reading for each hour of the day in separate tabs.

    In addition, if convenient, I would date/time next to each reading (total three columns - 1. 2 time.) 1 sensor # 3. Probe No. 3).

    I know that partial solutions to this problem are everywhere, but I'm not as competent in LabVIEW to gather this information. If you could help me I would be very happy!

    Thanks in advance!

    Different "tabs" in a TDMS files are for different groups (I assume you are using the Excel TDM plugin).  So all of the hours you need start writing to a different group.

    In order to obtain a data column for time, just write data in time as well as your other data.  I do not remember if you can write a value of timestamp for a channel, but at the very least, you can write a double for seconds.

    However, I would recommend writing waveforms or a time value and dt beginning as properties of each channel or group.  Time data can be calculated easily later and would really just be wasting space in your file.

  • plugin argument

    Is it possible to send information to a plugin (an argument)?

    I would like to select some options on a graphical interface and this affects the way the plugin imports data. I can do it later, but I think that the process would be easier and faster if the plugin did.

    Hi nkdemap,

    I talked to R & D on this subject, and it turns out that DataPlugins created with DIAdem 2014 or later (14.0 USI), there is a way to pass parameters to the VBscript code, but is brand new.  Here is an example of how to call the use, very similar to what I've already shared with you for a use from C++.

    Call Data.Root.Clear
    DataFilePath = "C:\Users\bradt\Documents\LabVIEW Data\New Data File.tdms"
    Params = "" & DataFilePath & ""
    Params = Params & "ParValue1".
    Params = Params & "ParValue2".
    Params = Params & "ParValue3".
    Call DataFileLoad (Params, "DataPluginName")

    You don't have to use XML after the filename part, if you prefer, you can use the delimiters for the instruction of Split():

    Call Data.Root.Clear
    DataFilePath = "C:\Users\bradt\Documents\LabVIEW Data\New Data File.tdms"
    Params = "" & DataFilePath & ""
    Params = Params & "|" ParValue1 | ParValue2 | ParValue3 ".
    Call DataFileLoad (Params, "DataPluginName")

    Anything you pass the Params variable will be available in the use of the new global variable ConnectParameter.

    Void ReadStore (File)
    Call Root.ChannelGroups.Add (File.Info.FileName)
    Root.Properties.Add "Description", ConnectParameter
    End Sub

    Remember, this only works if the use use ICU 14.0 or later version.

  • TDMS Version

    Hello

    I use the function import PDM with Measurement Studio 8.6. Now, I received a customer a PDM file. But I got an error when I want to load it. After that audit I discovered what was generated with Diadem 11.1. Of course the old version of DIAdem and other plugin could not read files. In Diadem I could not save it to the old format.

    There is no license check when I'm using TDMS. When can I import the new format with Measurement Studio?

    Best regards

    Andreas Lindenthal

    Andreas-

    There are two broad approaches:

    1. Use the MStudio Project Wizard to create a project in VS2005 and copy the .licx file (or relevant content) in your VS2008 project.
    2. Manually create the .licx for PDM file entry
      1. Follow the instructions in the help topic MStudio licenses without integrated tools measure the Studio .NET class libraries (the Studio help OR measure > .NET OR Measurement Studio class library > using libraries .NET class Measurement Studio > .NET class libraries Licensing > Licensing without integrated tools .NET class libraries) to create a .licx for your project file.
      2. This help topic is missing the entry for TDMS .licx (I'll file a bug report to fix this in a future version of MStudio). The information you need is: NationalInstruments.Tdms.TdmsLicenser, NationalInstruments.Tdms, Version =A.B.C.D, Culture = neutral, PublicKeyToken is 4544464cdeaab541
      3. Replace A.B.C.D, above the specific version of the Assembly that you are using.
        1. To determine the specific version of the Assembly that you use, go to the directory DotNET\Assemblies\Current under the MStudio for VS2005 (generally C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2005\DotNET\Assemblies\Current) installation directory.
        2. Examine the properties of the NationalInstruments.Tdms.dll file and find the Version of the file property. It is the version you need.

    Of course, it seems that we should facilitate this. I'll file a bug report to see if we can generate and install a .licx including the correct information. Then we could reference to this help topic .licx file.

  • TDMS of MDF time stamp conversion error / storage date time change

    I fought it for a while, I thought I'd throw it out there...

    Let's say I have a file TDMS which has a channel of labview time stamp and thermocouple 2.

    I load in DIADEM, I get this:

    Perfect!  But now let's say I want to save the PDM as a MDF file so I can see him in Vector sofa.  I right click and save as MDF, perfect.  I started couch and get this:

    The year 2121, yes I take data on a star boat!  It seems to be taking the stamp of date/time storage TDMS as starting point and adding the TC_Timestamp channel.

    If I change the channel of TC_Timestamp to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 etc... and save as MDF, I get this:

    Very close, 2012!   But what I really want is what to show of the time, it was recorded what would be the 10/09/2012.

    The problem is whenever I do like recording, date storage time is updated right now, then the MDF plugin seems to use it as a starting point.

    is it possible to stop this update in TIARA?

    Thank you

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

    You got it right that the MDF use written the time of storage to start MDF that is updated by DIAdem when writing time. We are working on this and will return to you, if there is no progress.

    To work around the problem, you can try convert TDMS MDF in LabVIEW storage vis.

    Something like the following, you can write your start time of measurement to the MDF file.

    Hope this helps,

    Mavis

  • Integrated Properies of TDMS files

    I found a problem with CVI 2010 SP1 built-in properties of a PDM file reading.

    Functions:

    • TDMS_GetFileStringPropertyLength with property TDMS_FILE_NAME
    • TDMS_GetFileProperty with property TDMS_FILE_NAME
    • TDMS_GetChannelGroupStringPropertyLength with property TDMS_CHANNELGROUP_DESCRIPTION

    error-6629 TDMS_PropertyDoesNotExist if these properties exist but are an empty string!

    I think that this error is returned only if the property is not really exist, not if it is an empty string.

    I have seen this with example TdmsReader provided with one of my TDMS files.

    Hey Vix,

    The file was created in CVI or LabVIEW? When you create the TDMS file in CVI, the name property is required or the TDMS_CreateFileEx returns an error. However, the TDMS vi open (with the create option) does not require the property name to set. So if the file has been created in LV, so unless the name property has been specifically created, then there is no. In the Excel plugin, if the name property does not exist, it uses by default the name of the file (the name property does not necessarily match file name).

    Since you have access to LV, you can simply add this property yourself with vi TDMS Set Property. It can also be a good habit of always set the 4 standard properties when creating files in LV TDMS

  • Simultaneously view several TDMS files?

    We store the data of 2 channels into 2 separate TDMS files, but I need advice / analyze the togther.  How can I open two or more TDMS files at the same time?

    Why don't you write just a VI that reads files, extracts the data of interest, and then displays the parts you want to see together?

    There is also a plugin Excel for PDM.  I guess you could open two instances of Excel and to compare the data in this way, even if I never tried.

    The computer I used has since died (dies the laptop so it can be used but only plugged the battery)... However, I think I still have all the files. I managed to load on my imac old parents (I am in Australia for a bit) and sites loaded there... maybe I'm missing some updates, but I could live with those they are probably minor.

    I also have Adobe CS5 with Dreamweaver - but I started to learn to use it. However if this is useful I have access.

  • How to remove a Mail plugin without having to open the mail

    I use a particular mail plugin that has been very helpful so far upward. However this plugin has just been updated so that the Mail does not open and I get the error message refers to a problem with the HockeySDK I see that has just installed this plugin. I am waiting to hear the developer about it, but in the meantime I can't use the Mail on my Mac. Because I can not open the Mail I can't delete the whole plugin in the normal way. Is there another way I can remove this plugin in the meantime, until this problem is solved?

    Hello, RobbieSnr!

    Thank you for using communities of support from Apple!  I see you are having some problems with third party plug-ins that you use with your Mail from Mac app.  I know how it is important to be able to use your communication by e-mail, I'd be happy to help you to get this working again!

    Because I don't know anything about this point the plug-in you use, it is difficult for me to tell you how to uninstall.  I had an idea to get your e-mail application to open, however!  First of all, make sure that you have completely left the Mail (no point below on the platform) app.  Then, hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and then as you are now, click on the Mail app icon to open it.  Now keep Shift during the charge of the Mail application.  The app needs to stay open for you, then you can remove your plug-in in the usual way you mentioned.

    You can find more information on this feature in the section called "when you open and exit an application" in this paper: automatically re - open windows, applications and documents on your Mac
