Tecra 730CDT - damaged BIOS

During the upgrade of the BIOS, the power went out and the upgrade was interrupted. When the power came back and tried to start the computer, I get the message 'beautiful' that the BIOS has been corrupted and there is a record of maintenance. Please tell me that this problem can be solved. When it comes to the computer seems to be unlucky and get hit by the unusual and unexpected problems...

The reason for the need for an update of the BIOS was that the HARD drive broke down and the replacement of 2GB HDD is not detected. I hope that the BIOS of uppgraded would solve this problem since the replacement HARD disk has been fully functional trials on another PC.

Hopefully any kind soul can give me an edifying answer.

No luck

Hello

Especially if the BIOS upgrade procedure was interrupted for the motherboard would be a shame. In this case, the second attempt to upgrade does not solve the problem.
But have nothing to lose. You should try it.
But if it helps doesn t well in this case the motherboard should be replaced.

  • Wireless - g card causes Tecra 730CDT to hang it

I am trying to install the Wireless-G card in my Tecra 730CDT. I first changed the BIOS of the CICP in CardBus for 730CDT to recognize the card. Installation works very well and I get network and Internet connection through a wireless G router and all work perfect for 1 to 5 screens. Then, randomly, the computer freezes and must be turned off manually. I tried 2 different cards Wireless-G (Buffalo WLI-CB-G54L and D-Link DWL-G630), and both do exactly the same thing. I also tried the 2 operating systems (Windows 98SE) and Windows ME and 2 routers different Wireless-G (a Buffalo and a D-Link), with the same results. I think that the 730CDT is 32-bit CardBus, but wonder if the problem is that it really is a 16-bit Cardbus. All expertise and/or experience with that? Ideas or assumptions? Thank you... it's SO close to work it's really frustrating!

    Hi Wayne

I think you expect too much of this old notebook with just 150 CPU speed MHZ and only 16MB of RAM. I have no experience with this, but I'm sure that there are not enough CPU for this configuration.

Like you said card is recognized and working properly, but if there are difficult tasks the laptop freezes. For me it's argument this processor have no enough power and abandons everything simply.

  • Tecra A10 - 12Z BIOS 1.6 wanted to move to 3, but 'not supported' - W7H32

There are many problems with this Tecra A10.

As Windows Xp is disabled, I tried Windows 7, which is too awkward, so I wanted to try the eSATA operating systems. Although I could install Lubuntu on eSATA it would not start (no hard drive inside most) to eSATA, but booted from USB.

Read in the forum and put the Windows 7 Home 32 disk inside again and downloaded the BIOS update only to get a response "not supported".

The A10 has a Windows Vista professional sticker slot, is the only OS where this Tecra can get BIOS updated?

We have no records of Windows Vista.

Installation of Windows 2000 or XP, it's really a lot of time, even for 9 x.

The last beta demoCD with eComStation, todays OS/2Warp, works fine on the Tecra, it has Windows integrated 3.11, is that not? Windows 3.11 on a SD card installation must be as fast and as possible. If there are drivers available?

ReactOS (freeWindowsXP) is usually able to boot, but it is still in the alpha stage!

As for flat BACK? There are the LiveCD with BACK.

You can also find Vista LiveCD socalled VistaPE CDs on the net, but their origin is unknown.

What is the best option? Is there only one option?

    Hello

    > Although I could install Lubuntu on eSATA it would not start (no hard drive inside most) to eSATA, but booted from USB
I guess that the BIOS does not support booting eSATA port but just the USB port.
But it's just an idea... that should be checked once more in the BIOS settings.
Maybe a BIOS update would also help.

    > Read in the forum and put the Windows 7 Home 32 disk inside again and downloaded the BIOS update only to get a response "not supported".

BIOS update may be run from under Windows system only. But the BIOS update also requires some software additional Toshiba which depends on the system.

In the case of Windows 7 or Vista, the value of added Toshiba package must be installed. In the case of Win XP, you must install the package of common Modules.

To be honest I don t understand what you want to do
Tecra A10 is a great unit. I have the successor called Tecra A11. I use Win 7 and its really awesome OS. Much better than the beginning of Win XP

  • Damaged BIOS on Tecra M5

inadvertently, I updated my BIOS with an old version 1.60, I downloaded the wrong version and now the laptop won't boot at all, it will feed into, white screen and the fan is constantly on, that's all.

I rang Toshiba, they said the BIOS updates are not covered by the warranty. I'll have to make to a Toshiba service provider and it might be a simple bios (1) cheap replacement or replacement of the Board of Directors (2) Dear system.

Anyone has experience with this issue before and could offer advice?

    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately, I put t see any solution to your problem.
It's not easy to tell whether the BIOS chip is bad. Of course, bad BIOS or bad procedure may damage the BIOS chip but maybe you're a lucky man and the chip must be only be flashed again.
As far as I know the service guy uses a disc special maintenance it flashes again.

However, there is no other way to contact the technician in your country ;(

  • Tecra 9100 - problem BIOS update/restore

    Hi all:

A few days ago, I (declining misguidely) tried to update the BIOS on my Tecra 9100. Now on startup I get the message "BIOS (Block1) is damaged! (Call the repairman). Technician: Place the maintenance disk in the drive and press any key when ready "." I tried to restore the BIOS by following the instructions on the web page of the BIOS (traditional method using a USB FDD) driver - put on with the key immediately to the left of the SPACEBAR key leads to the message "ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update floppy in the drive and press any key when you are ready to move forward. "The disk is regularly consulted and the laptop will beep every 10 seconds for a period of a few minutes. Then it stops, but should be repeated after any key is pressed. There is however, no change in the information in the form and no result just possible restart in the same error message on the BIOS damaged.

Anyone can shed some light on what might be happening here? I'm afraid that I maybe should I follow a few instructions on the screen (as the instructions for the update of the BIOS suggest) that I do not see that the screen is not active? So I can't hit the correct answers when required. Should I really the military and its maintenance diskette? Is this disk available anywhere if I can do it myself?

Any help or suggestions that anyone can give on this subject would be much appreciated - I don't want to go hunting a new motherboard unless it is absolutely necessary.

    Cheers, Chris.

    Hello Chris

I am not a technician, but according to your assignment, I'm sure that your BIOS chip is damaged. I'm afraid of nothing that you can do everything alone. I recommend you call and explain the situation.

I'm really skeptical you will find these special tools online.

  • Tecra S11 with BIOS 3.50 - USB mouse is not recognized at startup

    Hello

I installed the latest version of the BIOS in my TECRA S11 - U10, and now my "HID" device does not-that is to say my dongled USB wireless mouse. I must now remove the dongle and re - insert before the TECRA sees the mouse.
Boring, just about usable, but it's a PITA and I'm aware of always 'making/breaking' the USB connection.

Must be something to do with the BIOS and see devices HID on "start"?
Finally, I enabled Legacy USB in the BIOS device support, but still no joy. In addition, have tested the mouse on other laptops - works well at the start, so NOT the mouse.

    Suggestions, people? Thank you...

    Hello

Disconnect your USB mouse and go to Device Manager.
Remove all USB hubs and USB controllers in Device Manager list.
    Reboot the laptop.
Wait until all the USB ports have recognised and installed again.
Then connect the USB mouse and check how it works.

You should also test different USB ports available on this laptop.

  • Portege M100 damaged Bios

    Hello

yesterday, I turned off my M100 in now the switch as he begins. Given that the power light flashes orange when I turn it on and nothing else happens.
I read that this means that the BIOS is damaged.

Is there a way to fix this or is it really the end of my small M100?

    Thank you.

    Hello!

You should try this first: remove the battery and the AC adapter, wait up to an hour and then connect the battery and AC adapter. Now you can try it again.

In the worst cases, the motherboard should be replaced. To do this, you can go to an authorized service provider.

  • Tecra M9 PTM91E - BIOS update 2.0?

    Hey everybody!

I have the following problem: I bought Tecra M9 PTM91E.

After a year of successful use of the laptop, something happened with my video card or the motherboard.
He has been replaced in the service guarantee, but after that the cooler began to work very hard.
The says that it's because of the new BIOS version 2.0.
I cheked just the latest version of the BIOS on toshiba.co.uk and found that it is 1.9 for Tecra M9 PTM91E.

Anyone can comment that? Y at - it version superior oficial BIOS as 1.9?
Must the strongest cooler work after replacement card mother and update the BIOS?

    Thank you in advance,
    Dmitri

It's strange. Maybe the wrong motherboard was installed or was flashed the wrong BIOS.

  • Tecra R10 - 10J: BIOS update abandoned "this computer is not supported.

    Hello

    My laptop is a Tecra R10 - 10J PartNumber PTRB1E-00D002FR, 1.40 BIOS version 11/13/2008.

I recently bought and installed two modules of 4 GB RAM (8 GB). Enter the BIOS setup, I found 8 GB. Windows 7 64 bit also detects the 8 GB, but uses only 3.80! MemTest and diagnosis of CPU - Z are good for all of the 8 GB. I went from RAM modules from one location to another, but nothing has changed. If I replace a module of 4GB by a 2 GB memory, Windows 7 uses 5.80 is going well. Same result as any module of memory of 4 GB or slot I use.

I suppose that problem comes from the BIOS. The 1.40 version does not support memory mapped IO functionality.

So I followed the instructions on "http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/?download_drivers_bios.jsp?" to find the last good package to update BIOS for Tecra R10 - 10J. I downloaded and ran the BIOS310?. exe, but received the error message "this computer is not supported"?

Can someone tell me how to upgrade my BIOS or did someone has a better idea to activate the full 8 GB of RAM support?

    Thank you for all!

    Axel Limousin

    Hello

You must install the VAP (value added package) or if this package is already installed, you must reinstall/upgrade to update it.

Disable the Antivirus software and disable things of security such as firewalls etc.

    Hope that you're lucky...

  • Damaged BIOS 1 - Satellite Pro 6000 block

    Hi all

I bought a laptop, a Satellite Pro 6000, but after a few weeks, he refused to start and gave me the bios message 1 damaged block.

I downloaded the update to bios on the toshiba site, but it does not work.
I have an external floppydisc. When I put the .exe to upgrade the bios on a floppy disk and turn on the laptop with the ~ button, I get the message "ready for the update of the bios, place the update disk and press any key when ready."
I can hear the disk is searched, but nothing happened.

How do I update the bios or is there something else wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated!

In my opinion with the BIOS update you can't do anything wrong.
If you BIOS, update by following the procedure described in the document FAQ Toshiba and the BIOS update can not be done properly, I'm afraid there is a problem with the BIOS chip and it may be defective.

I can't say for sure, but if the BIOS chip is damaged, then you have a big problem.

  • Tecra M2 - updated BIOS is not supported

Hello; I have a Tecra M2 I want to update BIOS.

I downloaded it from the Toshiba site, specified for this model. But when I unzip in my book, there is a message that says "Bios Update v. 3.2.8. This computer is not supported. But my laptop is a 32-bit computer, and there is nothing strange about this... What is going on?

I need a help. (It's only a simple update BIOS...)

    Thank you

    J.

    Hello

The Bios Update v. 3.2.8 error message. This computer is not supported"might appear because the DMI information that contains the name of the laptop and other details of s notebook is wrong.
In this case the DMI must be updated.

The other reason why you are not able to update the BIOS, it is this tool called common Modules is not installed on your laptop.
So install it and check if you can update the BIOS

Last but not least, the reason could be the preinstalled OS, I hope you are using Win XP in order to update the BIOS

  • Tecra S11 and BIOS update 2.20

    Hello

I was wondering what is fixed in the new BIOS. Toshiba disclose no information about changes in the updates (why? "It is really a strange thing to do).

Anyone know what it does? This is the third update already and still nothing.

    Hello

It seems that these changes to the BIOS information are not available on the European driver Toshiba page.
I found some details on improvements and updates to the BIOS on the page of the Toshiba U.S. pilot but Tecra S11 is not listed. Maybe because it was broadcast only in the United States.

You could get in touch with a local ASP in order to obtain some information about the changes in the BIOS. Maybe the guys could provide some information then you could share with us
