Tecra 8000 - failure to CD-ROM - new installation disc?

The CD-ROM drive in my Tecra 8000 has a defect. It attempts to load a CD-ROM, LED is flashing, it stops, and then the drive LED is lit.
So I guess the drive is down.

What kind of new CD-ROM is suitable for this laptop? Toshiba only original ones?

Hello

Wow, the Tecra 8000 series is really old. Do you use yet this laptop?
It feels like the notebook would come from the stone age ;)

However, I think that the CD/DVD drive supports * interface IDE but not all readers would be compatible due to master/slave/cable select settings

It seems that the reader of DVD-ROM + Toshiba - SD-C2002 + would be compatible.
Not sure if you'll be able to get this disc because of the age of the unit, but probably the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country could provide some readers compatible optical disc

  • Tecra 8000 does not recognize the new HARD drive

I read on this forum and Google search, but nothing helped.

I think the disk on Tecra 8000 (Pentium II, 266 Mhz) is "dead".
I tried to replace it with another laptop to see if that would work.

The laptop does not, even if I put just like the original.
Y at - it somehow special or what I have to change something in the Bios?

    Hello

Don t need to change BIOS settings

As long as you use the compatible HARD disk, the BIOS should recognize the HARD drive automatically without big problems
What drive did you use? What size, interface, etc.

The Tecra 8000 is an oldie and I think that you could use only the 4 GB; 6 GB; 9 GB; 10 GB; 14GB IDE hard drives.

More large hard disks would be not recognized by the BIOS.

    Hey jmixmaster

This article describes how to easily order service packs on CD, replace Microsoft software or hardware, and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

    Hi there;

I lost the disc for my Toshiba Tecra 9000 laptop.

Exactly what software needs to be downloaded to the default configuration for one of these?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

What 9000 model do you have?

All the required drivers and utilities are available for download on the web, but if you mean you want to put the machine in its factory condition, you need the recovery disc that came with the machine.

If you provide the machine part number I can let you know what software has been bundled with it.

Try to change some settings in the BIOS.
In the configuration box, you can set the configuration of device option to all devices.
In addition, in the area PC card, you can try changing the compatible option CCIP or CardBus / 16-bit.

Play with these settings and check if a this will allow the card.

PS: Have you installed all the drivers that should be shipped with this card?

    Hey!

Since yesterday, I have my NB again at home and so far, I'm happy with it!

  • New OS for old Tecra 8000

    Hi all

I just purchased a Qosmio F10 and want to give my old Tecra 8000 (P2 300 Mhz, 8 GB, 192 MB of RAM) to a friend. This computer works fine on Windows 98 1st edition, and I again all the installation diskettes. I would like to reformat the drive to remove my identity and to upgrade the operating system to a version more recent Windows.

    My questions are:
-What operating system given the low specs?
-How can I reinstall Toshiba laptop features?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

TOK is quite right. Check on the Toshiba site what operating system is supported for your device as Toshiba specific tools are designed only for the operating system.

  • Tecra 8000 - installation of update of the BIOS & XP or ME?

I got the task of sorting of a s laptop Tecra 8000 a friend who is completely riddled with spyware and viruses. After killing most of the infections I backed up what I have to and decided the best course of action is a reconstruction of the BONE.

I don't know what operating system to suggest that it installs. Will install and make ME use Win98 drivers or if this is not recommended (I have no experience with ME)?
XP would be a better choice with its own pilots (reading the posts on here that SP2 causes slowdowns well)?
Either the OS above with a Bios Update will be necessary? If so the update of the Bios from 9, 30-trad does not require a 500 MHz + processor? The Bios will tell me the CPU speed?
I found information on how to install the updates to the Bios; I just check that I can install the 9.30 - trad on a Tecra 8000 with a processor more low spec?

    Thank you very much
    JBW

I installed the trad 9.30 on my tecra 8000 233 mhz without problem. European downloads have the 500 mhz different bios updates voor and lower. The trad version is for lower versions.
The American downloadsite have only 1 bios, the 9: 30 for all machines.
It confused me, so I took the trad 9.30 which is safe for all machines under 500 mhz.

Good luck... not to mention that I installed winxp pro on it and it runs smooth, I only dissabeld a large number of services that run in the background that wheren can't used to free the memory.

  • IDP_JMS_Bus / engine on the new installation of e-mail failure

    Greetings:

I'm trying to get a new installation of 8.2 in a WebSphere 6.1 win 2003 / SQL Server clustered environment.

Currently the IDP_JMS_Bus does not start, and SystemOut messages point to 'No current e-mail of execution engine'.

I tried to start the engine, without result on several reboots.

This facility has taken a number of attempts to complete due to errors in installation.

Can someone provide pointers on how to fix this installation?

I have had advice for the cluster, remove the SIB tables and restart the cluster, but do not try this without a verification it is recommended.

    Thank you in advance!

    Mark

If this is the case, looks like the messaging engine has trouble getting an exclusive lock on the message store tables in the DB (all start with SIB *):

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/LiveCycle/2007/07/what_are_those_sibtables_in_my.html

Since it is a new installation, you can drop them safely.  Stop the JMS cluster members, delete all tables SIB, and then restart them.  Watch the SystemOut.log of the members of the cluster for the messages that tell you that the messaging engine has acquired an exclusive lock on the table.  Only one of the members of the group will have this (since the messaging engine is a singleton and can run on one but not both of the JMS cluster members).  If you see this message, check the DB - SIB tables should be recreated, and you won't have this particular problem.

Essentially, must match the MEUUID in the table SIBOWNER and UUID of the messaging (as determined by the console WAS) engine.

  • Portege 2000 - new installation using the PCMCIA CD-ROM XP

I try to install XP on Portege 2000 using the official PCMCIA Toshiba CD-ROM drive.

Install the XP disk boots fine, but after that Setup copied the files it blue screen (BSOD blue). I'm not very tech savvy, but I think it means that the BIOS can 'see' the PCMCIA CD-ROM, but that the real image of XP loaded by the installation program cannot, probably due to missing drivers for the PCMCIA CD-ROM?

Then, I thought that maybe I could use F6 to load additional drivers during the initial installation, but it is beyond me to create the right set of files required. I know that you can download the Freecom drivers, but I don't know what are the driver files from CD to use and how to create from scratch the txtsetup.oem file right.

Does anyone know how to properly use F6 and load the drivers for it?

I found a lot of messages suggesting I copy the installer to the HARD disk and launch the installation from there. My problem is that the XP installation is an upgrade CD, so I will ask you at a certain time to insert a previous Windows CD and if at that time there I don't have a working CD-ROM drive...

First post on this forum so be nice - I did a search but not find a thread with a real solution, but of course if I miss a please report!

    Hello

I managed to install Windows XP Home the Portege 2000 using the PCMCIA reader but I ve used recovery disks original Toshiba which includes the correct driver for external optical drive.

So far I tried not to install Windows XP Home edition, using the Microsoft installation disc.

Maybe you should get the disks of facilities and not use this upgrade disk. I think that on this path, you will be able to install WXP as suggested when you copy data from facilities at the disk directly.
Have you tried to get the original recovery disc Toshiba WXP?

  • HARD on my Tecra 8000 P11 drive failure

    Hello

    I hope someone can help,
I have an old tecra 8000 P11 and the HARD drive failed, I tried re starting from the cd but says disc hard is not recognized or does not. any ideas?
Can someone point me in the direction of a compatible HARD drive replacement or original.

    Thank you

    Chrisp

    Hello

This is an older unit and it is not easy to give you accurate information but I found one that can be useful for you. Obviously, Tecra 8000 comes with different HARD drive capacities and the largest is 14FR. I don? t know which one you have now, but you should not use the HARD drive with too much capacity because it won't be recognized without doubt. I recommend you check eBay because there you can buy an and it won't cost much.

  • I'd appreciate it really any assitance on this, I can't save my favorites due to a failure of the system. I can access the drive crashed trhe data. Do my resident Favorites in a file that I can copy and then replace in a new installation, if so, where is

Windows broke down and I need to reinstall Vista. So I can make a backup of my favorites, but I guess that there is a file somewhere on my crashed disk that bears this detail. If so, can I copy this file and replace in my new installation of firefox. If this file exists, I would like to know the name of the file that I need to copy and that I could find it in the directory.

The anonymous gives path is for Vista not XP.
